TmaX's UA7 WDP 6MT - And so it begins all over again...
I got my 05 WDP AT TL w/ Navi back in September '10 with 105k.
It sadly was not cared for well by the previous owner so I started off with doing all the maintenance aspects.
This and reading up on future modifications became my focal point as I set off on what's turned into a journey of distinguishing my TL from the all the other stock ones.
Suffice to say the mod bug is upon me and the only limiting factor in the equation is the fact that I am still a student bearing university debt in my rear-view.
I decided it was about time I started a progress thread to keep track of everything and get some feedback. I of course welcome all constructive criticism.
Here's how it looked Stock + A-Spec Kit the day I picked it up:
![](https://lh6.ggpht.com/_5tFwFG3aQa0/TSxU5TaoR3I/AAAAAAAAACw/oYF1hejusWE/stock.jpg)
·
Following Mechanical Maintenance has been done since then:
Currently running on stock sizing Michelin X-Ice Xi2 tires as we get quite a bit of snowy and icy conditions here in Toronto.
I'd have to say they are holding up great and worth the investment as I literally feel glued to the road. The ability to accelerate and stop on snow/ice is on point.
The near bald stock ones that were on there simply did not cut it.
The only thing I have been lacking through all this is a proper digital camera and time to do a proper photo shoot.
Here's a few of the most recent pics I have.
Note the A-Spec suspension has not been installed yet as I just picked it up recently.
Also waiting to find a Progress RSB to do everything suspension related simultaneously.

Yes I know I'm lacking with pics so once the weather lets up I'll try to find some time to take a few more.
Hopefully I can bug a buddy of mines who has a DSLR to do a shoot for me as I feel I'm not doing my car justice.
There's some slight cosmetic damage to the front from the previous owner which I plan to fix up come spring.
Contemplating also fixing up all the stone chips, repainting the front end and applying a 3M Clear Bra thereafter.
I would also like to say that JnC's work on the headlights was above expectation and I get compliments on them almost daily.
Apart from that he's got the customer service aspect of his business down and I would not hesitate in recommending him to anyone looking to get their headlights modified.
He was very prompt in his email responses and kind enough to take pictures through the modification process.
Speaking of the headlights I will post some cutoff pics once I can find a suitable location and of course some spare time for those who had been interested in the Phillips Crystal Vision D2s Bulbs.
So here begins my progress thread albeit late at that but better late than never I'd say.
I will try to keep it updated and hopefully one day in the not too distant future I will have completed the journey of transforming my TL into my own work of art.
In closing, I'd like to extend a thanks to all Acurazine and all its members for being generally being a helpful bunch of individuals.

If you've browsed the forum there's no way you could have missed the thread but heres a link:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/custom-headlights-jnc-part-iii-796033/
I utilized his trade-in program. The Phillips bulbs are significantly brighter and the output is a much truer white than what the aging Osram bulbs were outputting.
Yeah the minor crack on the left came with the car when I got it.
The other small scrape on the right is from an unknown person in a parking lot.
Will be fixing it all up come spring as there's no sense in doing it now in winter.
Thanks Comptech! Best mod so far aesthetically wise as it cleans up the whole front of the car and gives it that aggressive look.
I've noticed people are more likely to get out of the way since I got them for fear my TL will hurt them.

You wouldn't believe some of the idiotic things I've seen.
It was worse when I was riding but at least now I got a cage to protect me from their idiocy.
WDP ftmfw indeed!
I got lucky with the A-Spec package but had it not come with it I would definitely say it would have been my first upgrade.
The most immediately noticeable difference amongst other TL's.
Thanks to all the above for their kind words of support!
I aspire to keep it clean and spring should bring about a slew of more major mods.
Tax Return season!

As far as tax return my first mod will be the RV6P V3 J-Pipe.
Debating trying their new quasi dual exhaust or sticking to the ATLP Base.
Awaiting some videos and user feedback as they said they will be doing a second batch.
Not mention I've gotta put something aside to pick out a set of new shoes for summer time as the stockies will be left on the X-Ice Xi2's.
Thanks ArthurL! WDP makes me smile every morning I walk to the car.

Of course I'm biased but ATLP is the way to go. My exhaust has made me fall in love with my car all over again. Do it.

Thanks SharksBreath! Your NBP TL-S is one of the cleanest ones on AZ as well.

your plans sound awesome. v3jpipe is a great mod, i love mine. any aftermarket exhaust (xlr8, atlp, rv6) you will enjoy. wheels are a great idea as well, they just get to be expensive after you add everything up.
subscribed to you your thread.

I like the fact that it also preserves the stock tips which I think accent the flow of the body lines of the TL.
I've got my eye on the AME Tracer FS-01's which another member ran with 18x8.5.
Debating if I invest in them if it would be more worthwhile to opt for 19x8.5 for the larger size or if I should stick to 18s to keep it close to an OEM setup w/ the A-Spec Suspension.
The only thing is I've only been able to find one guy that's selling them in the US as it appears they stopped shipping to the US for a brief period of time.
On a side note the Progress RSB has also been ordered through Excelerate Performance's Sale.

Will be picking it up sometime next week from the border so Install pics with A-Spec Suspension will follow soon thereafter!

The only problem is finding a set of them here in Canada as they are pretty rare.
There was a set that went on sale from the BM but I say the post one day late and it was gone the day before.
I'm just happy I stumbled upon it before someone else did.
But after already searching for 1.5 months I was getting impatient and just as I was about to consider a NBP I found this one.
Thanks Souljah

Great job man! Car looks great. I also just ordered a Progress rsb but from heeltoeauto for the same price. It will make a difference. But when you install it, set it on the softer of the 2 settings. Also, regarding exhaust, I just got the rv6 v3 j pipe and would suggest getting that along with the atlp base. Happy modding.

It's dropped on Eibach Pro Kit springs which looks good.
Thanks rockstar143!
Your NBP is fully decked out as well. Aiming to keep it clean like most of the senior members here.
Thanks kim!
Sadly winter has taken a toll on it and it's in dire need of a wash.
Going to take a pic tmrw before the wash for the Filthy TL thread.

From what I've been reading your right the softer of the two settings work best with the A-Specs and the TL-S FSB.
I would probably get the RV6 V3 J-Pipe and wait for a deal in the BM for the ATLP Base exhaust.
you gotta watch the BM like a hawk. things are there one day and gone the next, but you can find some good deals there. i've gotten tons of stuff already and saved hundreds.

If I can't find the A-Specs I'll have no choice but to go with an aftermarket set.
The only downside like you mention is the cost but I have a hard time settling for things when it comes to the TL.
It brings out the "like that-buy that" mentality in me.

A few updates to add to the thread.
![](https://lh5.ggpht.com/_5tFwFG3aQa0/TTtqFWqM-iI/AAAAAAAAAEk/MvMpLQk_YgU/P1000255.JPG)
Picked up the Progress RSB and the Type-S FSB the other day.
The box to the left contains the A-Spec Suspension which has been waiting for these Sway Bars for installation to occur.
Should have everything installed within the next couple of weeks but all this snow we're getting is making me hesitant.

The Smoked SideMarkers w/ White LED's came in from USR as well.
On a side note though it appears AckTL05 just got some A-Spec Rim's in stock here.
They are not the Gunmetal ones that I originally wanted but the price is definitely right.
Was looking for some pics on how either of these would look on a WDP with no success. Not sure if its because im sleep deprived but if someone could lend a hand I'd greatly appreciate it.
Found some pics of both for better reference.

Leaning towards the Smoked Chrome if I had to pick between the two though.
After spending countless hours looking into rim's on numerous other forums I'm leaning towards utilizing those funds for more performance related mods and keep up the A-Spec theme I've got going.
Not to say that come spring if I come across a good deal on a set of aftermarket I won't bite but for the time being I can see better places for me to divert those funds.
Primarily thinking aboout Ritchie's J-Pipe and an ATLP Base or Quad Exhaust.
