TLS headlights on a '05 TL Superimposed/Overlay

This is just a trial to see if I would like my car any better with the TLS headlights.

I know it doesn't look very clean but its the best I could do in a short amount of time.

Let me know what you think. haha

Before

After

I wanted to make the TLS pic look like the yellow lights were on.. But I didn't jack with it.

well, I have already, but its not the same as my car.. like with silver grill, no fog lights, and a smaller grill.. And with my wheels. All that can make a difference.

I figure I can just get the headlights for now and worry about the bumper and grill later. We don't use fog lights in Dallas hardly ever.. but at least I can update them darn headlights for now. I also don't have a very good place to paint, but I do know how to do bass coat/clear coat. Its just a lot of work to do all at once. Money is not the issue. It's a place and time. I have one of them skinny garages that you can barely get out of the car. I need to move before I go painting anything. Actually, the main reason I keep waiting on modifying anything is because I keep tossing around the ieda of a Z06 in my head. Like I can't stop thinking about it. But I think the prices are too high and I think they just raised the prices somewhat for summer. So, I think it would be best to wait until the C7 comes out. Plus I need to buy a house. haha tmi..

Here are the after pictures. Google wouldnt let me rename my original After picture, so I reloaded the after picture with the lights illuminated and it changed the link. So the first post doesnt work now.

This illumination was what I was trying to upload. And it changed the link.

It looks good but I wouldn't spend my money on that. Get the A-Spec kit or a drop or something

I already do have the Aspec springs and shocks. Its the automatic for automatic. The front could be a tad lower, but it was dropped some. like maybe 3/4" at the time when I did the work.

with Aspec:

without Aspec below

It might have went down some? who knows. (before any says, I do like the wheels.. I'm not particularly interested in changing the wheels). Especially with all the horror stories I "see". haha

Do it!! Go ahead and get one. You don't need a house I've been looking at them too but I am looking mainly at C5's unless I can find a C6 for the right price

Z06 is the only way to go. If you get a C5 then you will want a C6. And if you get a C6 then you will want to mod it like a Z06. So just get the Z06 and save money and time from all the upgrades and mods and switching you'll do later.
But they want too much for this one. But they are all over 42k and used and something about crawling into a GM/Z06 just makes me think of my Camaro I had.. TIMESx2!! with double the headache. So maybe Mr. Goodwrench needs to take a break. Try this: Google Z06 issues or Z06 failure basically you want a 2008+ But Bluetooth only started in 2009.

Actually, I was about to comment on how the front of your car is over the curb lol

I absolutely LOVE the Type-S headlights on a NBP.

I find Type-S parts and NBP just flow so well together, like the gun-metal rims, and the dark tail lights, and the dark headlights, and the dark side markers... you get the idea.

I should have specified that I'm mainly looking at C5 Z06's but if a C6 Z06 pops up at the right price it will be hard to turn away from!! The main reason I got rid of my camaro was the need for more power. You can never have enough power

Get the Z06! Houses are boring, Z06 is way more fun lol

No but seriously, if you have the means go for it. Former Camaro owner here also, and I have always wanted a Z06.

The aspec I am referring to is the springs and shocks/strut assembly. not ground effects or wheels. I have no desire for those ground effects that flare out. And I like my wheels.

Separately, USR headlights are way over priced
http://www.uniquestyleracing.com/2020actljdmc.html
Thanks for telling me about them though.

These are cheaper and a better shipping price that the other guy on ebay with $50 shipping fee, but still, not quite realizing the specialness of clear corners
http://www.ebay.com/itm/07-08-ACURA-...sories&vxp=mtr

I was thinking more like these DEPO headlights on Amazon.
Here, a left and a right ordered separately is $456 (free ship)
Amazon Amazon

But for some reason if you buy them together as a pair, it jumps to $465 (free ship)
Amazon Amazon

And I don't think JnC upgrades my entire light. He just modfies the one I have. I think...

Never heard of any real reliability issues with the C6 Z06. There were a couple of recalls that applied to the first model year, but the issues were remedied. Most infamous of them all were the roof panels that separated and flew off.

Each year introduced various enhancements to the interior and options. But its a raw 505HP beast. Who gives a shit about the interior, IMO. If you want more refinement, buy CTS V-Coupe.

Well, everyone decides for themselves as to what is "worth it" but I would not want to buy a car that cost 40+ that does not have navigation, regardless how raw the horsepower is.. especially since I got this 2005 TL with navi. Plus you have to step up to an 09 corvette for the first Bluetooth ever. That's astounding since many cheaper cars had it in the middle 2000's. Now days even REAL cheap cars have navi and Bluetooth. But as far as reliability, I heard some 07s had some rocker arm.issues, but I posted on corvetteforum.com and they said just get the newest one you can afford. So, that would be about 50k if you got and 09 with Bluetooth which was the first year with Bluetooth. I think 08 had some drivability improvements too but still no Bluetooth. So moral of the story, I ain't buying a CTS and I'd rather upgrade my headlights on my TL which already has Bluetooth and navi and a new timing belt and only 66k miles and paid for, than buy a 53k z06 which is still loosing about 5k per year in value. And that could increase as the new c7 comes out in the fall, as some owners will be prompted to sell and add to the corvette glut on the market already. It's all downward pressure and they have a ways to fall. It's just not for me right now. Wrong time to buy and I want a house. I can already buy one but I want to pay cash. So I keep on saving.

TBH, even if it has Bluetooth, I doubt it'd be very usable because of the exhaust noise. My dad has an 06 Z06 and the combination of exhaust note and lack of insulation makes it hard to hold a conversation at highway speed. It's a raw car that is absolutely not to be confused with a luxury vehicle. It's pure performance. There's no way you'd wanna drive one every single day. But good for you on wanting to save up for a house. It's a great time to buy, no doubt about that.

I bet the newer Z06's are more drivable, quieter, than the 06's. 06 was the first year I think. Corvette owners say that the 08+ Z06 is more drivable, whatever that means. New transmission or shifter or suspension I think, not sure.. Anyway, regarding houses, Is it a good time? I'm not feeling it yet. Low interest rates have help to prop up house prices even though some markets have fallen, and some high end houses have dropped, still, the majority of houses are still over priced. Until they raise interest rates, which may be a while, I think house prices will stay still on the high side. If a person does not want to finance a house, then low interest rates does them no good. By the government lowering interest rates, it has help the housing to be more affordable, but all that has done is allowed sellers to retain a higher price because they think it is more affordable. But if a person wants to pay cash, then he or she wants sale price to drop, not the interest rate. So, I still have some waiting to do. But that is ok, I don't have enough "cash" yet and I have yet to find a house that is worth what they are asking and I don't know where I want to live.. Plus the job thing may roll again. So, planting roots is a tough choice. If I could narrow it down to City A or City B, that would help. But presently I keep juggling 2 different cities.

What I would like to see is the banks cut out the 30 year loan. This would reduce affordability but also put downward pressure on house prices, which would then balance out. Then people could actually pay off a house in 15 years rather than 30 and it would not cost as much if a guy wanted to pay cash.. That is one thing that needs to happen.
