Supercharged TL Vids

These are just some initial tests with my new camera when we were developing CAI systems for the supercharged TL (actually...as if you will soon tell...I was holding in with my hand as I had no stickipod yet nor custom mounts for the camera) and I thought people might want to hear a regular everyday takeoff from a superchared TL if they didnt already have one...sounds a bit different. This was taken when we were initially doing some testing on CAI system setups. This was not major competition takeoffs here....just a few different take offs on an undisclosed backstreet that we used for testing. I found these today as I was surfing through my PC at old media I had stored so I edited some of the BS out of it down to just some simple starts.

I can't wait to see the finished product for the s/c intake.

Your car sounds different from mine...could be the exhaust setup.

What exhaust are you running? I am running a normal Comptech unit.

Originally I was running the comptech but got intrigued by the wrx/evo/skyline/supra/is300 exhaust designs and decided to customize a single outlet HKS carbon Ti exhaust. It sounds unique.

Very cool! I remember seeing a thread about that. Do you have any sound clips at all?

Trust me....its faster with the supercharger than it is naturally asprirated.

Plus...hense the "This was not major competition takeoffs here....just a few different take offs on an undisclosed backstreet that we used ..." statement. This wasnt quarter mile track runs here....nor was it meant to be.

This kinda stuff REALLY makes me want a supercharger for my S. I really need to find away to eliminate the top speed limiter though if I take the supercharger dive.

I figure with the introduction of the S the aftermarket will respond with more aftermarket parts since the S is more performance based. Who knows though.

Benz do you have any pictures of your s/c CAI?

Maybe we should have an acurazine Comptech supercharger cold air intake design competition.

No offense Michael, but from the video, your car seemed very.... slow for a supercharged TL...
First clip captured 0-60 in 6.5 secs while the 2nd... over 7 secs......
mine does consistently at 5.0~5.5

in anycase good run

according to one of the car mags the type S does 0-60 in 5.7 I wonder what I can realistically get it in. I need better tires though... more traction

No offense taken. Trust me...it moves just fine....lol. They were not exactly competition takeoffs my friend! Just testing some CAI systems at the time for runability and a few other factors. I put down 307WHP on an automatic TL man....and its now slow? For a slow car...it sure moves fast and puts down some good HP to the street?

No seriously...those vids are just CAI test vids that much of it has been edited....not track vids. Plus...traction is a bit hard to come by my friend...when its 20 some odd degrees out and you are on snow tires...lol. Thats why they close drag speedways when it gets cold out! Otherwise...they would run all year!

No...I have no published pics of my current CAI setup. I can assure you that it isnt made from PVC sewer or drain piping though...lol! Its actually fairly simple. You will appreciate it when you see it.

God...dont we all! That has been one of the biggest issues for me right now. Traction. You really have to modulate the pedal or you lose too much to wheel spin...which is a total waste.

according to the magazine the 2004~2006 TL also does 14.2 in 1/4 mile but hardly any driver without good experience can get close to that number. According to the magazine, the 2004~2006 TL also puts down 5.7 from 0-60...

they are just numbers buddy, unless you really know how to launch and drive it the way it should.... most people get well over 6 secs on the new Type S

I see. By no means the car sounds slow, it looks very solid and sounds very good. I already have the AEM intake mods in there and it screams pretty loud... make more clips of the car once you get the new intake in.

nice videos man...i can't hear your exhaust but the whine is sweeet.

i didn't realize that there is such a big difference in gear ratio between AT and MT's.

i'm actually going to switch back to my stock tires for a while cuz i miss how fast my car was before i had 20's on.

Seems about as fast as usual. Just noisier. It took about 6 secs to 60. Not much of an improvement. And he had a rolling start. ..................

Dude....you dont read do you. They were not meant to be competition starts there guy. There was specific things we were testing on CAI systems....this is just a small snipet of the testing we did.....all it was meant to be. Plus....its like 20 degrees out buddy! One would be about stupid to be doing competition starts and high speed runs at 20 degrees. (note....about the third time I have mentioned this to you nonreading folks that just like to look and comment without reading whatsoever?)
