Spring pics. '08 CBP Type S new tint

I know its not like people havent seen tint on a Type S, but the weather is getting a little nicer and the car is clean so I took some pics.
The S is 100% stock with exception of VLED's V3 Triton LED's front and rear and now 35% tint all around. Its just about to turn 30,000 miles in a few days :-) Love this car! Best tinter in Chicagoland area Greg Weiss at Quality Window Tint in Warrenville (Chicago burbs)

Rear 1/4 windows done right!

Rear window also done right without cutout for 3rd brake light!

Kinda cool side profile shot

Haha exactly, I have been saying this for a while now. It really is as easy as grabbing an end and yanking it off. 5 minutes at most.

Your car is a perfect axample of how a TL should look "kleen and classy". My only suggestion would be to add 15mm spacers, a base A-spec kit and you will be golden.

Nah im not a fan of the whole spacer thing, atleast with stock wheels. Mainly because the car still has relatively skinny tires and with them further out just looks weird to me. I have tossed around the idea of a-spec kit, but I just cant get myself to like the front bumper kit for the Type S. I know you said base kit and some guys have successfully added it to the Type S which looks nice, but I dont want to deal with the awkward fitment issues.
Looking at those pics, I really think Acura did things right with the Type S. You can do nothing to the car and it will still look great!

Yeah thats why I say in your posts just go do it. Just use something that can pry the edge up just enough for you to get your finger underneath it. I used an old credit card that I didnt need anymore and that wouldnt scratch paint. You will have to clean the area underneath and possibly rub some double sided tape off if it doesnt go with the moulding. The first Type S I bought had side moulding and it was removed within 30 minutes of getting the car home for the first time :-)

Looks good sir!
I have a question though. Do you know what brand of tint film used? And did you measure % after tint done? Cause i have to redo mine again. I got pulled over for tint by state trooper 2days ago. He gave me repair order. Mine is 20% all the way around except windshield. I already removed front and rear window tint film. I still have to remove back window tint. 35% is regal limit here. I heard you get lower % result even if you get 35% tint done. Because window is not 100% clear from factory. I want to get right at that regal limit %. That's why i'm asking.

Nope. It was cool but the look never grew on me. There actually is a part that's still dipped though. You can't see in the picture, but the bottom gray plastic piece I left dipped. So stock it's gray, but now it black. Looks pretty cool as it matches the rest of the front end black parts.

Yeah I did. I listed both of my cars for sale and the new Grand Cherokee Overland got a ton of interest. It ended up selling for my full asking price so it was a no brainer for me. I'm enjoying the S.

No I did not measure anything. I asked for 35% and that's what was put on. I don't know the exact series of film but he uses Llumar films. 35% is the legal limit here in IL as well but cops don't hassle people for tint here unless you live in Shitcago where I heard they will ticket you for breathing wrong. Glad I live way out in the suburbs.

Thanks for reply. I think i'm gonna get Llumar or solargard film. I guess i have to find out to get legal limit % first.

Do they do 20 percent and tint on windshield too if asked ? I kno some places only do the legal limit. I need to redo mine cuz there is scratches everywhere from no moleskin and I need some tint on the windshield !

I'm out in Plainfield off of I55. With no traffic I can be downtown in 50 minutes. Gregg will do anything you want to your car. Look up quality window tint in warrenville (near Naperville). He has a shop there.

you got lucky.

I just pulled off passenger side molding and there is a large amount of residue left over.

I've got a 3m adhesive eraser but my drill batteries are all dead ;/ hopefully once i have a full charge i can make short work of it.

You know your gonna be shocked when I tell you the first two pictures were taken with my iPhone 5 lol. The rest with my Sony Cybershot TX7 point and shoot. I took a ton of pictures with my Sony and once I got back inside all of them basically sucked. I never really liked this Sony camera and am ready to get back into a DSLR. I used to have a Canon Rebel T2i and that took phenomenal pictures. Maybe I will start looking for a T4i :-)

JT, unless you want better video capabilities with autofocus or higher ISO, stick with your T2i, it works just as well.

Canon has rumors of a 70D releasing soon

And to help, I use this site to compare cameras

http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-Re..._EOS_Rebel_T2i

Obviously the T4i is going to win, but for taking photos, it's not that much better. There's just a few nick nacks you may want that the T2i doesn't have.

I am pretty sure he ditched his 6mt because he didn't like how the clutch felt and how the car shifted gears.

That being said, now I'm jelly that my rear quarters don't have tint behind the molding.

Like I LOVE CARS said below kind of sums it up. The first 08 Type S 6mt I owned developed a very weird surge during acceleration during warmer months. I bought the car in the winter and it did not do it. Then towards summer I noticed you feel the car sort of pulsate as you accelerate. Dealerships acknowedged the problem but could not fix it. I tried swapping every sensor imagineable myself with no luck either. As long as I was going to have that car it would drive me nuts so I got rid of it. Thats why I then bought another 6mt Type S. This car drove perfect, but not even 4 months into ownership the clutch started slipping. I bought that car from the original owner as well it had about 60K on the odo. Clutch repair cost a pretty penny, and on top of that I could NEVER get used to this clutch and throttle setup. Dont get me wrong at times its a blast to drive, but for daily driving I said enough of this crap. I also had my eyes on the new 2011+ Grand Cherokee's so thats what I ended up buying as a replacement.

Thats good to know thanks for the info. If thats the case then maybe I will look for a slightly used T2i since they seem to be relatively cheap now. I looked on craigslist and people are selling complete packages with additional lenses and all. That might be the way to go.

Yeah thats why I have this guy Gregg always do my cars. He does the best work I have seen and he doesnt cut corners as far as how he trims his tint. Its funny, some shops actually tell me its not possible to tint behind the weather stripping

What did you mean by 1/4 window done right? doesn't everyone do that part(mine is tinted there also)? Also, is your 3rd brake light dim because it has to shine through the tints?

We finally have a pic of you here on acurazine now haha but just a reflection off your clean car!

and the accord still there? thought you had it posted for sale awhile back.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about this. I hope he doesn't mind me posting pic.
My TL was like that. You can see it on rear edge. Not completely covered. A lot of shop does it like that. I'm gonna do it right like his TL this time.

Yeah what he said^^^ A lot of shops will not push the tint behind the weather stripping on the rear quarter windows and what your left with is a rather noticeable 1" un-tinted section going from top to bottom.
As for the third brake light, output is not effected all that much. Remember its only 35% tint so plenty of light can get through. I prefer to have that area painted because like the rear quarter windows, I wanted a fully tinted window with no areas that stand out. If I went and took a picture with the brake lamps on you would think there is no tint there.

As for the Accord yeah thats my wifes 04 sedan with 6spd coupe wheels and 35% tint :-) I did list it for sale back when I was unsure what I was doing with my three cars, and it was the 2012 Jeep Overland that ended up selling.
