Spiike's Chi-town ASM TL-S

Just finished my headlights today and I'll share some pics. Install was originally to be ZKW lense swap, angel eyes, clear corners, and color matched housing. But, I couldn't find the lenses at any of the junk yards around chicago, and I refuse to pay $300+ for two pieces of glass that I basically already have. Color matched housing didn't look too good after I took everything apart either.

For those that are going to embark on this journey, note that the wiring has changed from 04-06 and the 07-08. I wired my angel eyes to the parking lights which I might change to DRL's down the line. Here are pics of the wiring, I used tap-in's from radio shack that made installation a breeze. A box of 7 was like 4 bucks.

Driver's right blinker: the middle is ground and the red is parking light. The White is the blinker, which is reverse on past models.

Driver's left blinker: the middle is ground again and the red/white is the parking light. The red and blue is the blinker.

I just followed the directions from the million dollar headlight thread and the creating perfect headlight thread, and I was able to finish in less than 5.5 hrs. Baking the headlight was rather stressful.. mainly because I did this on my bmw and destroyed the housing by not using a wet cloth. That's a must. I took my time and in about 3 hrs everything was sealed with Nissan butyl rubber. Here is the finished product:

Cleared Corners. I think this is a must for ASM. There is some mild condensation which was expected right after the install. When you bake the housing and you look really closely, the lenses get covered in condensation. But that goes away as long as you dont have any leaks.

Some Angel Eye action. I didn't realize how hard it is to take decent pictures of the angel eyes. Either the picture becomes overexposed or underexposed. I'll take more pics during dusk tomorrow, so you can see an ASM TL-S in all it's angel eye glory. haha.

kit was from umnitza on ebay.

I would definitely clear them and paint the chrome piece black like I did. It looks so clean afterwards, and it sort of creates an optical illusion making the car look wider. I was like whoa... sweet.

DRL's would need to be wired to the high beam wire. I can take pics of it though since all you do is pull the 3rd fuse and turn off the HID's, but I wouldn't drive around like that everyday. I would hate to see that small DRL light on the dash everyday. It would be rather aggrivating imho.

Dusk pics will come tomorrow as long as the weather is clear.

How much did you get that kit for?
I'm trying to look for a new angel eyes kit that is specifically for TL-S.

Also does anyone know if the lens on the tailights can be taken out so that when they're lit, you can see little LED dots rather than the red lens reflecting it?

Sorry for bumping such and old thread but I have an 06 I am trying to hook up the halos to the parking lights and can't find a diagram anywhere.

I know you say the wiring is "swapped" but the black wire is not in the same place. I have the same colors so do I just use those wires?

Thanks!

lol the ONLY reason i did it is because i bought 2 sets of type s lights.... so i said f**k it time to slice n dice. took a really long time because the plastic is not flexible and you have to be gentle....and the plastic weld took a long time and didnt smell good so i took a lot of breaks so the fumes didnt kill me.....no probs so far with em (knock on wood)...the one thing that really still amazes me is how bright the turn signal is....even from a block away its super bright....the brake lights are double the brightness now.

Just wanna show some love to the angel eye family. Here's some of my threads.
I'm about to do taillight mod too, or keep the red, and smoke out the outlines. We'll see =D

i was going to take the chrome from the original tails n do it like that with the clear or maybe a red turn signal but the gunmetal chrome from the type s lights and the clear looked best on ssm....its all about the color of the car it doesnt flow well with some.
