ok guys i've had my iphone for a little bit know and i got sick of it just sitting on my passengers side seat. so i made a new home for it. i picked up the isimple for full control using the stereo and steering wheel buttons, i wanted video playback too, however there was no way to get video to play through that cable. so i improvised. and decided to place another plug dedicated only for video. i had the idea now i needed the design.

i thought this would be a perfect opportunity to test out my designing and fabricating skills. so i went to work and took some pics for you guys to get inspired to make your own. any joe can just go buy a pro clip and call it a day. not me! im all about custom on to the pics


wrapped my phone in aluminum foil to protect it from the fiberglass resin i laid some mat and resin over the whole thing.


heres the mold i made, i made two and fiberglassed the bottom of them together






dock frame out of aluminum


tabs are for securing it to the center cupholder mount

dock connectors, i had to make two of these


wrapped the tray in thin cloth material





















like i said anyone can just buy a proclip or something like that not knocking anyone who has them its just not me, never liked things popping out of my console, they look like they just dont belong. my goal was to make this look as OEM as possible, did i succeed? ill be installing this tomorrow. i'll post pics of it installed in the car later.

clean custom mod for your iphone. To bad i use my cup holder on a regular basis. But none the less that is a perfect example of custom clean iphone install. Nice thinking with two cables, one for music and the other for video I would of thought you would opt to go with a carpc thats the route i went.

thanks man, yeah two cables was the only way to get audio and video, that i know of to date. with this damn thing i've got a carpc, homepc, mallpc, anywherepc .

There's got to be a way to Tap into the iSimple wire/plug for the Video feed (it's there it's just not going anywhere)... then just set the iSimple to Aux1 and keep full control of the iPhone while it feeds the video feed to your screens... Just a thought...

having something super cool, custom and most of all functional for audio and video integration or some cup holders? no brainer for me.

i dont allow drinks in my car! bottled water is pretty much the only thing i drink while driving. dont really need cup holders for that.
