Put some new reverse lights in

I got some 1000 lumen Cree XML T6 LED's, and I thought what the hell why not use them as reverse lights. Unfortunately, with my window tint they're not quite as bright as I had hoped, but they look pretty cool.
Here's a pic from behind:

Yea, I thought getting HID reverse lights was ridiculous until I put some LEDs in and still couldn't see because of my tint.

I bought them from this seller on ebay, but he appears to be sold out. For $6.45 a piece I can see hoe he sold out so quickly.

Anyway, here's the link not that it helps that much

Nice. Now you need a nice backup camera to go with it.

A backup camera would probably help somewhat, but I think the biggest problem is the 125º viewing angle. I personally think I'd be better off with a narrower focused beam.

I just took one of those 1000 lumen LEDs and put it in a cheap Redline flashlight that was originally 220 lumens. I gotta say this thing is way better than the $50 251 lumen flashlight Lowe's had.

Did these fit without modification into the housing? Plug and play?

Unfortunately, they were kind of a PITA. They would fit through the hole the normal bulb goes through. So, I had to ghetto fab them; I just super glued them flush to the back side of the reflector. It definitely aint pretty, but it got the job done.

I was showing them to my friends, and I had them on for a good 3-5 minutes and one of the LEDs actually melted off the star shaped heatsink. When I was bench testing them I knew they got hot as hell, but I guess being enclosed overheated them.

In hind site I would run them at 2500mA or less instead of the 3000mA I had them wired for. I have one left, but I'm just waiting on a new higher ohm 25w resistor. So, they'll be back and I'm also trying to find a better method of mounting them.

I believe they would work, but our cars use 921 for the reverse lights. However, I think the contacts line up the same just the 921 is a larger bulb.

I'd personally go with the "Eagle Eye" non tower bulbs on this page:
