viet, those cars aren't really considered "tuner cars" to me.even the CL? really? lol I always thought the CL as a "classy coupe", I'm not into the "tuner" scene. I don't know if my cars give off that vibe? lol I love big body cars.and not just imports. What i would love: lincoln town car, 87 Monte SS, 95 Impala, Lexus LS430. But these cars are out of my range now for 2 reasons : money and practicality. The GMs and Lincoln will need time and money invested in them to get them how i like. and the LS430? or any big body japanese like the Q45, isn't really practical. I'm only 20, still trying to make my way up to settle in. Besides my CL, every car i seemed to "stumble" upon and do the best to get them "sexy, slammed, simple". THE STORY: i crashed my CL a week after owning.damaging bumper, radiator support, headlights. it was bad. and if any of you ever had a CL;parts are extremely hard to find.and i was only 16 at the time, working full time and still trying to go thru high school. I finally found a Cypress Green hood for $250! used! and so began the process of piecing my CL back together. at night the hood looked black, and my friend (who passed away) said to me "paint it black, along with the roof..so it'll look like a panda" and thats exactly what i did. My accord? sold to me by my friend.she was getting rid of it for a new accord, she gave it to me for $1100, i put the front end on,changed bushings and struts and sold it for $2800. The BMW was going to be my next "classy coupe",but gave me too many problems. I sold it just as my friend was selling his 02 IS300 since he had picked up an E60. I bought the IS300 for $3,000. Eibach springs, bilsteins tints and lighting upgrades. the IS is no tuner, its simple performance in a simple luxury package. Skipping over my 2nd CL, the TL was as well,an accident. They are very common, something I always chose to stay away from. ^hence the selection of weird cars, not commonly hooked up. at least around my way! (i know about all the forums, and plenty of people DO fix them up, just not around here, and not at my young age). I didn't want a TL, but after a month with no car, i was getting antsy, and would only settle if i could find a black or white 6 speed fully loaded. and then it happened. I still appreciate the "clean" civics, teggys but not the new ones. I mean like eg/ej civics, the DA integras, wagovans, but couldn't find myself sitting in one after driving cars like the BMW,Lexus and now the TL. So i guess; kind of like you it did open up my eyes a little.

Sharky, pretty funny you came in and mentioned it, John said you'd have an aneurysm in post 26 and you did.
hm i need ideas then. im looking for ways to protect the kit even a little, boston roads suck. especially since i want to go lower,. I snapped my lip on my CL coming down what looked like a smooth road,BAM! pothole. at that point i ended up buying 2 just to keep a spare. i was dedicated to that car. man.

^^^I don't like the wheels standing still, but do love them rolling that blue is cool.

Hmmm...well, if you're afraid of losing the aspec kit you're guaranteed to lose the home depot lip!

**update**

what's goin on guys. haven't had much time to log on lately but i wanted to update what's been going on with my TL. The car is actually going to be completely repainted in the beloved Nighthawk Black Pearl. Just waiting to hear back from the insurance company for them to approve some extra parts so the work can start. So, im hoping in the next couple of weeks, I will have a fresh paintjob!!

well the short story: my car was keyed last week. I called my insurance company as soon as i seen it, both sides of the car, hood and trunk were keyed pretty deep, they even hit the rear bumper, thankfully the front bumper wasn't touched. I recently got promoted to the Parts Manager for my dealerships body shop, so they're going to help me out with it so im not without a car for too long, and the tech thats going to work on my car is going to fix any dings/dents i have. also while it's in the shop- im calling a wheel refinisher to come in and fix the curbing on the wheels as well as repaint all 4

WOW dude...talk about some cosmetic enhancements!

Any other black colors that catch your eye?!?! If you need a full repaint, might be cool to do something totally different, no? Or try a different body style bumper and skirts?

I KNOWW!! I SO EXCITE (borat voice)and hmm.Actually, J i never considered any other color, i love the Black pearl, and i am excited to see how a freshly painted NBP job would look as i've never actually seen a new car with this paint.newer acura colors don't have quite as much pearl, and the older hondas/acuras with this paint code are..well,older? so the paint never looks the best it can maybe ?or maybe im just excited lol. i really like this color. and i don't know of any other style i want to go with. i like the stock body, and would only enhance it with a lip kit.

Also, my tape player stopped working, flips thru sides and then ejects itself. bummer cause i use this to play all my songs thru my ipod or phone.. soooo im debating whether to get my audio unit out for replacement, or just get one of those "i-simple" type solutions? anyone recommend the real best? i have navi, and don't necessarily need the ipod function, just a aux 3.5 would be fine for me. something simple. I can send out the unit for $100 thru my dealership for repair. and get it back in a few days. so whatever i get would have to cost no more than this amount. im debating whether to do this before or after my wheel repair? i was thinking: Wheels>Paint>Audio or vice versa.

ALSO: anyone that has or knows of anyone selling the OEM Decklid spoiler! PM ME! any color.

NBP is a very tough to keep clean color.....

if i would ever repaint my car i would look into either KBP or something like that....

but i do agree that NBP is the sexiest color when clean !!!

i feel any black car is hard to keep clean, everything shows. but when it is clean, its worth it. i like the KBP, but i wouldn't drive something with such a bright color, wouldn't feel right for me .
ill take pics of damage later,

^^^I agree with that.
My favorite color is actually carbon bronze pearl.

Or have them do NBP but add more flake than it calls for!
I would just look for an isimple for sale and call it a day...ipod or any 3.5 integration.

yea but isn't there different models that do different shit, i just want something to plug in. is it worth it ? or should i go thru the dealer for the repair?

meh, i don't know about the gold flakes. i was going to talk to the painter so he could throw in a little extra flake, like how he did on my front bumper, but i don't want to overdo it with any more. my front bumper looks SICK in the sun. looks straight up blue

Yes, it will still be NBP <3. lol He was actually going to go in today to start disassembly, if not early monday.Handles, door panels, bumpers coming off. I think I'm going to call and get a new windshield while it's in there too.He still has some body work to do, but shouldn't take more than a day or two since we have so many cars at the shop-it's impossible to work on just one. Mine is priority, but i dont want to rush anyone. Sooo, it should be prepped and ready for paint tuesday

uuf, i couldn't tell you man. I haven't really asked him how much he would charge for a job like this on the side. I don't mind telling you that the Insurance appraised the damage at a little over $4k in repairing the scratches, and repainting the entire vehicle. A lot of that labor goes into removing handles, door panels, moldings, skirts, bumpers, lamps, etc. not to mention prep time and paint. Obviously insurance wouldn't pay for the "previous damage", but when i asked him if he would mind repairing the dents and dings; he said not to worry about it.

You must be so excited to get this done...
I'm assuming your front bumper is getting done too!?!? If so, are you considering getting it all clear vinyld to protect it. If I had a front that had zero rock chips, I'd consider doing it.

Anil, where the heck have you been?!?!

front bumper was just painted a few weeks ago, i'll leave that alone since the paint will match. and yes im beyond excited, i can't wait till its done. J, i would NEVER put those clear bras on any of my cars. I guess it's not until you take one off that you realize how absolutely worthless they are. Any chips will still get thru to it,and taking it off?? Forget about it! It's veryy veryy time consuming, even with industrial strength adhesive remover, for the price of applying it,and the time I would spend if i ever needed it off, I would rather pay the guys to sand and re-paint any day.
