Progress thread and NEW WHEELS!

How's it going Azine,
A few months ago I ordered a custom powder coated set of Varrstoens, after a few brutal months with a few problems at the powder coating company, I finally got them in and mounted! But first, a few progress pics (All the old ones are off of Instagram, sorry )

After 6 months of looking for a clean 6 speed with black interior, I finally found an SSM at a used car dealership nearby

After a few small "mods" like plasti-dipping the grille and rear Acura emblem, I got my first big boy mod, Tein SS Lowering springs

I never worked on cars before, with the help of some friends, over the course of two days we finally got the springs in and on the car.

My buddy picked up a clean RSX Type S with aspec , exhaust, intake, and coilovers

Got really bored with my car over the next few months, as a high school student with a really tight budget, especially while paying off the car, I didn't have the cash to do everything I wanted, so I sanded, primed, and painted my wheels white, and a friend helped me bake open the headlights and black them out. Got a sick JDM plate as a gift and after getting stuck in the snow multiple times while sliding around, the look of the front tow hook started to grow on me, so I left it there

A longggg time after that, I finally got a set of coil overs, Function and Form Type 1, now we all had way more experience working on cars so this took what seemed like no time at all.

That same Friday night, we lowered my car on the function and form coilovers, and my buddy's new edge mustang on some racelands. I had noooo idea how slammed these coilovers came in the box and my car was literally on the ground

Not even a day later, I brought my car back into the garage, and adjusted the coils up to a decent height, between being low, constantly rubbing, and the insane toe in the rear, I just couldn't do slammed

This is around when I got my new job, so I was able to get my hands on some wheels relatively quickly. I researched everywhere on forums and got XXR 530 18x8.75 on 225/35/18 Hancook Ventus V2 brand new wheels from NLmotoring and new tires from tire rack

Now that I had wheels, I really wanted to slam but between 18s and big tires, I couldn't go as low as I wanted, I tried to go low however, and rubbed my front fenders out pretty bad
So I sold my wheels, got back on stockies, and bought an NRG quick release. Neochrome quick release and steering wheel, and a black short hub

For the next few months, my paychecks went to paying off the car, I'm really thankful for my parents, I made a "down payment" of about 4grand and my parents paid the rest, I got a 0% loan from them and made payments however I wanted
Once the car was finally paid off, I got the wheels I had been wanting before I even got a car. MB Battles, 17x9.5+15 with 215/40 Yokahama S-Drive. (I originally wanted them when I got a 5speed IS300 but thankfully that didn't happen.) I also installed Inspire fog lights with yellow bulbs and the "quick-release" bumper clips in preparation for all the low. I fell in love and this is where my car really started picture whoring

I wanted to go lower in the rear, but I had gotten into a minor accident, some kid backed into me so I was sketched out about rolling that rear fender. We had to do quite a bit of work to make the front fit and I didn't want to mess with a freshly painted side just yet.
With these wheels, there was only one problem, I scraped too much when I got under my car and saw the frame, I got realllly worried. So, after curbing the wheels one morning, (half awake at 5 A.M. in a Dunkin Donuts drive thru, right before work ) I sold my favorite wheels. And had my headlights re-done by Bruce (EndlessRPM)

Soon after that, I put up a thread here on Acurazine and a wheel company out in LA contacted me, and after a few months, I finally got the wheels on! Varrstoen ES6 18x9.5+13 205/40/18 Front and 18x10.5+15 225/40/18 Rear, required a ton of fender work and like 7-7 1/2 degrees of camber in the rear.I also have base aspec front and side, and Type S rear. The front I installed with my new fogs the same day I put on the wheels. I also installed window visors (rain guards?) and a Honda Accord roof spoiler

I've got a ton of dents and little dings here and there to fix, and then I plan on wrapping the whole car Satin Pearl White and installing the rear Type S aspec with 4" quad tips

Car has certainly come a long way...nicely done

Actually prefer the 17's you had, flowed better with the SSM in my opinion. But your car looks great nonetheless.

I agree, loved the color but them being 17s was just ruining the frame, I hope this purple goes better with the satin pearl white when I wrap

Nice progress!

I can't believe FnF coilovers come low like that out of the box.

What if you finish installing the coilovers and then lower your jack, and your car ends up on top of your jack, crushing your sideskirt, or front bumper and your jack is stuck...

Hahahaha we were prepared and had blocks of wood under the wheels when we let it off. I was surprised though, when the car was still in the air and I had to tuck the wheel into the fender to get it on the studs

Thanks! Most of the previous pictures were taken by me haha the recent ones are by friends who would consider themselves photographers, I suck with a camera haha.

Update

So I got the aspec side skirts on a little while ago, and lowered the front just barely to try to fill up some wheel gap

(Steering wheels are overrated)

Right before I go to get the body work done so I could install my type s rear aspec and get the wrap on, I get the greatest check engine light Ran the codes, got 3 misfires, a random misfire, and a bad o2 sensor So I went ahead and did plugs (they didn't look pretty, 105k maintenance from previous owner supposedly included spark plugs ), and switched around the coil packs when I did the spark plugs hoping for the best, but of course that would've been way too simple of a solution. Few days later, check engine light is back, blinking at idle I'm gonna re-run the codes, I hope the misfires moved and it's just bad coil packs but I'm expecting it to be bad valves I'd love to make the car look perfect but while I'm doing head work I'm just gonna start building the motor like I originally planned on.

Right now I'm looking at Bisimoto stage 2 cams, Supertech valve springs and retainers, TB Motorworx Valves, AD Engineering adjustable cam gears, XLR8 lightweight stock size crank pulley, and AEM Series 2 EMS. This is just the first list I came up with from doing a little bit of research.

I currently have a short ram intake I'll be replacing with an AEM CAI, I have the RV6 V3 j-pipe and then a 2.5inch straight pipe, which I want to put a resonator and mufflers on. This is my first build, I'll be asking around more on it and obviously I'll be getting info from the performance shop in about a week but if anyone has comments or concerns about this list, please let me know.

I'm hoping my stock clutch can handle the power , I'll be finding out from the shop when I go there for a diagnostic. If my clutch can't handle the power right now I'm just gonna go OEM for my engine work because it's a fresh clutch I got in December, about 6k on it.

Long story short, the car's not gonna be looking pretty for a while but on the bright side, if everything works out, I'll be looking at a little more power finally instead of a car that sounds alright but goes nowhere

I do want to build the bottom end eventually, I'm hoping with a conservative tune and since I'm not making crazy power the bottom end will hold up until winter at least
