Very nice update, Adam. Sorry it has taken me so long to finally look. I wanted to hear the video before replying and I got sidetracked.

How much power did the Stage 1 add? Car sounds pretty good did the intake make it a lot louder?

And congrats on the tattoo award!

What are your impressions with stage 1? Sounds absolutely awesome, car is coming along fantastically, Adam. LOVE the exhaust tips, and the wheels. I think that coils will be a no brainer for you, you'll want to tweak height and springs just won't make the cut.

Being part European, I absolutely love this hot hatch.

The car went from 256 to 310hp. It really woke up the car and it's a blast to drive. The intake roars when I get on it and the diverter valve sounds sick when I shift.

The car is much more aggressive now. The midrange power improved a lot and it just wants to go. I'm having a hard thinking about suspension right now. A nice set of coils costs anywhere from 1200-3000. I will lower it one day, but it's low on the list of priorities. I've sorta lost my passion for modding and car photography. I'm enjoying just driving it and spending my money on other things in life.

It happens. I have other things I want to do and don't have enough to mod as well. I'm going to try and meet up with my friend next weekend for photos. He just got the first 2015 STi in FL. I want to check out that beast.

No doubt, man!

Hey, I'm all for saving money and different priorities. Want me to ask your new girlfriend if it would be okay for you to modify your car?

Listen, I'll settle for some H&R Springs...that Audi S5 I borrowed on them wasn't SLAMMED, but had a phenomenal stance and rode very nicely. Go for it!

I'm leaning towards another set of springs that lower the car more and ride better than H&R's. One thing holding me back are my wheels. They are too aggressive in the front and will require some work to only rub a little bit. Part of me wants a new set of wheels that will fit better and be a lot easier to maintain.

I actually really love the simplicity of those.

I got you, you'll be rubbing more so you're telling yourself you don't want to complicate your life with lowering, it's not because you don't want it done.

I feel you...I know another guy going through something similar too.

More or less. There are a lot of things that come into play when you lower your car. Ride quality, noises, rubbing, body modifications, paying more attention to the road, etc. I'm enjoying just driving my car and not worrying about turning heads. I DO want to lower it in the future, I just want to do a lot of research to get exactly what I want.

Here's a comparison of SPM vs H&R springs.

SPM

H&R

Other things in my near future include a downpipe and front mount intercooler. I just need to figure out which one I like better...

No matter which one you like better, spray paint black please. Sleeper status.

I got you, and yes, the SP9RT29R springs do give it a nicer drop.

I like the look of a front mount. It gives off a "I want to be formal, but I like to party" feel.

Adam, holy shiet. That is impressive and only a stage 1. Incredible. I wish the TL was a platform where you could utilize the OEM FI to make it quick like that.

I need a ride in your car one day, big boy.

This is how the car should have been from the factory. The car doesn't require any mods to go Stage 1. It makes you wonder how much it was detuned from the factory... Hopefully I can make it over there soon.

Definitely down for another St. Pete meet! More Rolling shots, and of your R as Well!

Also, what is the "Dogbone insert"? What does it do?

It always blows me away how much the cars from Europe are detuned to meet US spec (safety?). Who knows...

but amazing...seriously.

The dogbone is a poly insert that fills the void gap in the tranny to prevent movement. It makes shifting much smoother and more predictable.

Yup - 310 on the Golf's frame is nothing to sneeze at; those things are ridiculously quick! Man I miss my old VR6

I'd like a video where I could ALSO see the road while you're driving so you get a visual feel for how fast you're accelerating. Jam your phone/camera into the passenger headrest!

This car is definitely peppy. I'm tossing around the idea of getting a downpipe and upgrade my fuel pump to go Stage 2+. It will put the car at 362hp 370tq. I'm just concerned about the long term reliability. I put on a lot of miles and don't want stuff to break on me.

I'll have to try that next. I want to put it over my left shoulder and get the speedo along with the road. I don't think the phone will be a wide enough angle to look good. I'll play around with it and see how it turns out.

New Update: Decided to trade in my .:R yesterday. It was APR stage 2+ rated at 362hp 370tq and was a blast to drive. The VW community sucked and I had slowly begun to lose interest in the car. After a freak incident that put it down for a month and cost me $2500, I fell OUT of love with the car for good. I was searching all over for a specific car and it turned up at my local dealer. I set up an appointment for the next morning and was able to make a deal on my new car...

2014 Focus ST with ST3 package. It has just under 11K miles, H&R springs, BOV, Green filter, black vinyl roof, and still covered by factory warranty. It has has some sort of boost controller that I'll be removing to get a tune. My local Ford dealer is mod friendly and really great to work with. I'll be ordering a roof rack soon, throwing on wheel spacers, tune, and calling it a day for awhile. I'm not a huge fan of the green accents, but I'll take care of those down the road.

Thanks for your help, Jeremy! Sucks I wasn't able to go through your friend. These cars are getting snatched up really quick on the used market. I also just spent around $1200 two months before that for a bad fuel injector and to have a carbon cleaning done. I was just over that car!

I miss it too. I found an 08 KBP Type S, 6spd, 120k miles for sale that I was all set to buy. I got pre-approved for the loan and was ready to drive up to GA to buy it, but the dealer flaked out on me and wouldn't return my calls to finalize a price. That was my sign to just buy something new with low miles and a warranty.
