Unfortunately, the paint does not match 100%. So unless it lightens up considerably when it cures I am going to redo it.

flydog...nice job bro'. I think it looks really good. And I don't think the difference in paint is that bad. What about maybe painting the background of the Acura logo?

I was thinking about painting the background of the A. That probably would look better, but I wanted to try it in black first and see how it looked. I will photoshop it and post some pics later.Originally Posted by Steven Bell

Looks great! Did you paint it or have it sprayed professionally? You probably could have sold/traded that TL-S chrome grille out for a stock matte one before painting it...

IMO, the contrast looks good. Perfectly paint matched looks like too much of the same color on different parts to me. That or a satin or flat finish looks good.

Thanks. I did it myself. Bought the the paint from http://www.expresspaint.com/ A spray can of the base coat was $24.95 and I spent another $10 on primer and clear coat.Originally Posted by SRT-11

I've been debating doing that, just concerned that rattle cans don't adhere as well. I have a can I bought from automotivetouchup.com (they're similar to express paint, I've had good luck with them in the past) and I'm going to try painting the license plate/reverse light panel AM to match mine, then do the strip and A emblem in flat black. I was on the fence about the grille, but you've inspired me!

Looks good my only opinion is that the mesh behind may have been better left black to match with your black lower grille mesh. Unless you are planning to paint those silver too? If you do, at least leave the strip and fog surrounds as is.

The bumper has to come off. The grille parts are held together by maybe 8 screws. The hood trim is held on by 4 nuts that are accessed by removing the 1 1/2" rubber cabs under the hood.Originally Posted by fiore8072
was it hard to take the grille off? do u need to take the bumper off?

I painted the bumper of my 2G TL with the same paint and it held up for 2 years. No peeling and no cracking. Originally Posted by SRT-11

It is the same exact urethane paint used by Honda except in an aerosol can. They also sell paint cans for those who own sprayers.

which primer and clear did you use? did you use an adhesion promoter?
I think I just might tackle this myself!

I did not use an adhesion promoter. I just scuffed it with 400 grit sandpaper and use an automotive primer I bought from expresspaint.com. I used the same primer on my 2G bumper a few years ago and it held up fine.

The wheels compliment the color very well!
It's nice.
