New ADDICTION

Hey everyone, new to the forum, my names Matt, I'm 26 and from NY. I have alot of knowledge and experience with cars(maintenance/modding/racinge/etc.). I've always loved TL's but didn't think I'd be the owner of one until last week....I friggggin love it, not the most amazing car in the world but all around is perfect for me!

I bought my 2004 6speed non navi two days ago from a small dealership a decent friend from high school owns(He drove this car as his personal for about 3 months). The car has 70k on it, a brand new clutch, brand new rotors and pads, brand new tires, he threw a brand new K and N in it after I inspected the nasty dirty stock filter. Everything on the car works and it runs amazing, keep in mind I didn't realize the 3.2 v6 had so much pep, I LOVE IT! torque city....for a four door "sedan." I've had a decent amount of fast vehicles modded to the max along with three bikes.

The last few days I've basically been doing my background investigation on my new girl lol. Exhaust mods as of now I just see two "fart cans" on the rear which drives me nuts because I think the stock TL muffler look is unique and awesome. I couldn't made up for some sound and performance other spots as I see the car has three cats on it. Anyways.....the exhaust sounds pretty good but has an awful drone when cruising.
Suspension....it has green springs on it from my past makes me think they are te1ns. it's lowered pretty good but it rides amazing, handles amazing and it certainly doesn't bottom out.
Car was wired up for a aftermarket sub, the stock sub wouldn't work so I ripped the trunk apart diagnosing and checking it all out. Previous owner had a line out converter hooked up to the stock sub connections which is great so I pulled out the system from my truck(Kicker Comp 15" with a 900W amp) and installed it and it worked immediatley and sounds sweet maintaining the stock deck controls! love it!

I've detailed the crap out of the car, after the pictures which made a HUGE HUGE HUGE difference. I put the K and N in for now, looking into the AEM CAI, I didn't want to get the MOD BUG but it already happend. The whp gains for the CAI on this car seems unreal. So I'll have to check it out....I need to do some mroe research on the JPIPE and getting rid of these retarded mufflers. All the town deuschers want to race me everyday(Which I've smoked everyone....I've had no choice! HA thought I grew out of it.) I want to go with the quad tip exhaust, I'll figure something out eventually.

I was going to replace the timing belt soon, my side mechanic who is incredible will only charge me 100 in labor. But I see on here people say its good until about 100k. So maybe I'll give it 10k miles. Reccomend doing the valve adjustments?

Heres some pics....help me with some advice on what to do with this exhaust!

Picture I snapped with my RAZOR, same as above, few hours before I detailed her.

my own personal opinion, don't do quads. it's hard to get them aligned right.

somebody posted about some exhaust piping for really cheap. get some comptech or magaflow mufflers and a nice tip and have a shop install it all for you.

And welcome!!

Hey welcome aboard.

Indeed you do need to upload it to one of the file hosting website. We cannot see files from your Google account except you. You can upload them to Photobucket or Imageshack. Have fun

Looks awesome. I don't justify spending around 1000 on an exhaust....hopefully I can find something used or I will custom Fab something.

You can't edit posts on this forum?

Sorry guys been posting from my DROID at work all day....I'll update pics and what not this weekend or a little later today. You can't edit posts on this forum? Don't want to post them mid thread lol

Alright I'll attempt it from my phone.....I've already installed my system. Dropped in a K&N because my buddy was the dealer lol. Bought a keyfob for twenty shipped(I'm a hustler)...need to get this exhaust straightened away and get me a CAI. These jpipes seem legit. I customize everything. I'm a great welder and have access to a lot. I hope I can help a lot of other on this forum once I get into the swing of things and work slows down

This is before i detailed it which made a world of difference. Hopefully this works.

Welcome Matt!

Hey, start a free PhotoBucket.com account and save your pictures there. Then copy the IMG code and paste them here. Your pictures are still not working.

I don't want stock....I want a suttle exhaust coming out the back, I want it to sound good, just don't want that look. Performance and sound I'm all about it, as long as it doesn't have a horrid drone!

Welcome to A-zine. You will find a lot of tasteful mods that are easy and most are fairly cheap that you can do yourself.

And don't sell yourself short. A good exhaust on these cars sounds killer. I can't stop turning off the radio and rolling the windows down.
