@Pho The Nguyen decide to come out the closet and pull a trigger on a extremely clean 05 RSX Type S, I decide to check the car and his new place out. I am glad that I am not the only one has car hoarding problem
I got small update, finally I swap out the Tein Street Advance for BC Racing coil and manage to nail down all the setting thanks to @sockr1 . He is a master at making me spend money on this dam Blue Turd.
I didn't have time to do the swap (working 60-67 hours per week) so I turn the car over to a local performance shop who specialize in lowered/lifted vehicle. If you in Houston check out Sal's Auto Sport, the price is on the high end however it also included 2 alignments on a Hawk Hunter rack.
Everything went smooth, install and alignment done in the same day, the owner even stay late after the hour so I can pick the vehicle. I want to beat whoever did the suspension previously as workmanship is next to none, shit is all over the place.....
BC Racing comparing to Tein Street Advance is like day and night difference. Tein is nice for normal driving comfy being on coil, ride quality is generally good. However if you decide to push the car in corner the damper on rebound got overwhelmed which result in wheel hop (my setting was 2 clicks up front and 3 clicks rear from full stiff) and it still doing the same thing.
Meanwhile BC Racing is currently at 9 clicks front and 12 clicks rear from full stiff and it behave better than OEM Aspec, I would say it is stiff but in a good way. I really wish the front let me go higher in height, however as of right now the front is at maximum height. Thanks for the setting layout @sockr1
If anyone can recommended a good set of camber kit for the front I would be appreciated, I saw Skunk2 has upper control arm but I kinda hesitate do to quality. What do you guy run for camber control on a lowered TL as for me price isn't important, it's the quality that I am after.
After the suspension swap it become clear the shitty tires limit my ability having fun in high speed corner. Previously I had 2 Potenza (front tires) with a date stamp of 28 weeks of 2013 that ball from the inside do to the car being lowered. The rear set of tires are Iron Man.... FML to add insult to injury the waffle rim has slight bend on all fours. It not noticeable but I am super annal about rim and tires, oh well I bought a set of refinish 8.5 Aspec awhile back. The people who work at Discount Tire place are priceless when I back the MRP so they can get the other 2 Aspec rims as they are confused....
My goal for this car will be OEM+ build so next on the list is overhauled the braking system (rotors, pads and rebuilt all calipers), then the side A-spec will get send out to paint KBP color match and install on the car. Then the interior will receive some love as all seat cover will be replaced along with a brand new dash.
Here are some photo for the small update, I need to wash the KBP after 2nd alignment lol.
My son decides to photo bomb the new suspension stance...
I was gonna drill the rear deck for extension adjustment but I came up with the ideat fish it through seat belt slot.
Took the car to Lowes for some small project inside the house, I then realized Lowes blue and my Low Blue.
Last picture of the KBP have Waffle, I had to bring the MRP to carry wheels as I dont want to put it on the seats.
8.5 Aspec is on and long with all new OEM TPMS sensors and mounted Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. At this point I thought this is the KBP AZ whore
Fresh rubber and scratch free wheels.
Back in the stable and don't mind the messy ass garage.
Score a set of Aspec side + rear Type S lip with all the mounting bracket and hardware for $225 from a former AZ member, he used belong to Dallas Chapter meet.
Oh yes, 3rd set of Aspec as spare parts. This is what happened when you own five TL.
@nist7 Ming's KBP is the Acurazine whore...
but you are the TL whore for sho!
Nice work, man...
I did some research and you can do the spc balljoint on oem arm...but there might be clearance issues with being low...
I had the skunk that shit on me so eventually I ended up doing the ktuned from @Heeltoe_Automotive meant for a tsx and loved the quality.
Indeed. Mine's been sitting in the garage for a while now since we've had 2 snow storms in 2 weeks....maybe next week it'll be out. I'm just beating around in the red 06 TL for now.
@truonghthe How does the wife/family approve of your small car lot business? So. Many. TL. Mine says another one of the same car is
5 TLs! That's awesome. My wife would lose her shit if I got a 3rd car lol.
Well a 2nd wife then you would able have 3rd car lol.

Well I think for now I gonna let it sit as is at -2.1 in the front and will see how tires wear out. If anything I probably buyer a Ktune upper control arm and dial back to -.9 chamber

Wifey has no say so lol, I pay cash for all of them anyway and most other expense in our family. If you are a true asian then you should know, take care of your family first then your toys. Wife shouldn't able to say much after that lol.

If you look at the previous page some idiot decided to get drunk blew two red lights, smashed a truck and bounce into my TL. Best part is that idiot has no insurance, I had full coverage so my insurance pay for all of the expenses and body shop gave me an aftermarket bumper but two OEM headlight. I would take OEM headlight over the aftermarket bumper anyway.
Very nice. Makes me wish I waited for a KBP to pop up
One of the reason why I bought this Type Slow MT this late, I only wanted in MRP or KBP MT with two tone seat. If NBP wasn't a thing, I would had one long time ago lol.

Thanks, any pics of the Audi duo?
Yeah, I enjoy NBP but it is very common to me. The two tone interior was a necessity for me regardless of color. I almost snagged a MRP up in Maryland before it had sold as I made the inquiry.

IMO MRP MT are rarer than KBP MT but I can't complaint much since now I got two sought after color of the Type Slow.

For sale i've only saw one MRP in my 4 months of searching for a 6MT. Surprisingly saw two KBP but both were too far away. One was in Colorado and didn't have the two-tone int, the other just nearly 200k on it so I didn't bother. As far as in NC is concerned I haven't personally seen any 6MT TL-S' for sale since I've had mine I have stumbled across a potential future toy/bundle of problems though, a Volvo S60 R lol

I almost bought a KBP MT with 150k miles some time back early in 2018 and the car was located in Durham NC, I was a tad too late from one of our forum member. When I bought the KBP there are one MRP MT locate in VA but that has Taupe interior, there are not many clean TL left here in Houston and yet let alone a clean Type S MT.
They are out there...problem is...pricing has gone up so much on them that you get yourself into pricepoints for other cool cars too.
Yeah....as years go by clean examples are less and less...you either gotta pay pretty penny or "settle" for maybe higher miles or with some needed TLC.
Definitely more of a nostalgia play OR like me and getting into the game like 10 years late lol....which is fine by me. I don't have issue with high miles as long as the seller is legit and core/major maintenance is done right/recently.
It's definitely hard pill for many to swallow to dump $10-20k++ into a 15 year old car at this point...I think it's all up to how you value the amount of enjoyment for your dollar. The allure of modern features is definitely high but for some that old school feel is worth the price of admission.
I wrestle with that a lot...if I should have hung onto it...
a few bucks back in the bank vs having a modern classic...
but again, I told you if I had cleaned it up any further...I would
have likely been unwilling to part ways with it. So it was a double
edge sword for me.
Plus, you know, the history and it being tied to my old life etc.

I feel like the Type S MT def hit the bottom of the depreciation curve, I can see it slowly going back up now. As far as for new car, I driven quite a few. Are they fast? heck yeah way faster than my TL. But non of them as that mechanical feels.

Yup.
People moving on from their 3Gs and then less and less are more clean examples and younger buyers getting into the game that may or may not be able to afford to keep it in real nice shape...means even less supply for a nicer condition 3G TL-S 6MT...so just because of continuing to dwindle in supply...the prices may stabilize at the low end and may be creep a bit or remain steady for now.

I see. Yeah the taupe interior was definitely a no-go for me personally. I found my NBP in Raleigh. Was online for maybe 1 day before I pulled the trigger on it; actually think a couple of forum members here had told me they were ready to do the same before I bought it lol but I agree, not many clean examples of normal TL's let alone any manual Type-S'. The more I see them posted the higher the price seems to be lol at least I have peace of mind knowing if I did ever need to sell it (which I never plan on doing) that I will be able to do so without much issue as for now, at 142k and *knock on wood* no issues with the car other than how it drives shifting wise, I plan to enjoy many more miles. Actually getting a paint correction next weekend to bring back that proper NBP shine

NBP is stunning after paint correction, but it only clean for 20 mins after initial wash. anytime longer than that is a dust magnet. I owned about 4-5 Honda NBP by now lol.

I don't blame you a bit of buying that AZ ****ore KBP, after all I think your probably is one of the clean example left in MT in KC.

Yeah....don't see too many 3G TLs around...mostly UA6 and UA7 autos...some TL-S and even less TL-S 6MT....i'm on a local KC TL facebook page but I don't do facebook much at all so not really in the "scene" so to speak.
Loooot of them are young kids seems like....doing typical young kid mods.....and spending basically entire paycheck to help fund the next mod or repair....
I've been pretty low key so far....life with work and whatnot is busy.....and I'm looking to get a new desktop build also so....that's been more taking my time.
Weather is FINALLY sunny and nice here....gonna be looking into getting mine nicely done. She definitely needs some TLC (looks good from afar...but some thigns need addressed to really make it "clean").
Still looking around for a really high quality painter to get the bumpers and hood redone/blended well and then some interior bits also...then it'd defintiely be really clean example for sure
