My DGP Transformation

This has been a longggg time coming! I bought my 05 DGP TL back in 2006. When I first bought it, I loved the stock look and decided to stay with it. Being much of a newbie at the time (although I still probbaby am compared to you guys ) I really had no idea what I could do with it look wise. As time passed and I saw TL's all over the place I started getting bored of the stock look and wanted to do some mods....only problem was cash. About a year later after I bought my car, a chick hit my driver side rear panel and of course, her insurance wasn't going to cover it At this point, I was dyingt o fix up the car and make it look like new but still....no cash. And then I joined this site not too long ago and all hell broke loose haha. After spending countless hours on this site and going through every post possible, I was flat out amazed by the works of arts you guys have created . Some of these cars just made me drool and it was then when I finally caught the mod-bug After planning everything out and gathering ideas from this site, I went ahead and started the transformation. As of now, I've fallen in love with my car all over again and every time I step out of the car, I definately do a double take haha There's still tonss more that I want to do and hopefully I'll be able to get them done soon enough. What I've learned: the mod-bug NEVER goes away! I just want to say thank you to pretty much everyone on this site for your creativity, help, and advice (I'm not a pro photographer or anything like that, pics were just taken by me on my digital camera during the day)

List of Mods: A-Spec kit, A-Spec Gunmetal (18x8.5) Wheels, Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS 245 40R 18, JnC Headlights, AckTL05 Tail Lights, 20% Tint, Custom Lower Grills, Custom Upper Grill, Painted Grill, Painted Emblems, Debadged, Painted Calipers, Caliper Decals, Drilled & Slotted Rotors, A-Spec Emblem, Acura Letter Emblems, Type-S Sidemarkers

Future Mods: Tein SS coilovers, Roof Spoiler?, 15mm wheel spacers, Dual Exhaust Tips OR Extend OEM Tips, and then hopefully performance mods

ENJOY!

When I first bought the car:

About 2 years, a crack, and a dent later (lower grills were taken out to work on):

Lower and Upper Grill w/ Mesh

Painted Calipers w/ Decal, Drilled and Slotted Rotors

A-Spec Wheels (Gunmetal 18x8.5)

FINAL PRODUCT:

Damn you car is hot. OEM cleanliness. I would lower it a bit to minimize the wheel gap though.

Grille color contrasts the DGP perfectly, well chosen.

How is the ride going from 45 wall on 17's, to 40 wall on 18's ?

i had the body shop do it, I think it looks better in person than in the pictures. but after all, they're just painted calipers, hopefully i'll get enough saved to get a bbk

thanks man. Yeah that's definately the next thing, the wheel gap is killllinnggg me I'm probbably gonna go with some tein s-techs for now, price is reasonable. The ride is beautiful, I feel like it's so much smoother and def a lot less road noise. I love the potenzas so far

Dang man it looks like a totally different car now! It looks great! 18x8.5 Gunmetal A-Specs FTMFW!

I can't wait to get AckTL05 to do a set of tails for me

If you are considering dropping on springs, I would look into the TEIN S-Techs. I've been dropped on them for almost 2 months and I'm really impressed. I thought they would ruin my ride considering they are on stock shocks, but they are totally the opposite! Very very close to stock.

Nice Job On The Clean Up

But 2things....

1. 1" Drop (at least)

2. Lose the ACURA sticker on the rear door window.

Other than that....very clean DGP

thanks a lot man! yeahh, im in love with the gunmetals AckTL05's tails come out amazinggg, i've gotten tons of compliments on the tails alone whenever im drivin around. I'm sure the ones he does for you are gonna come out amazing. I'm definately gonna be going with springs, coilovers are just too damn expensive. I've been doing some searching and it seems like you and everyone else reccomend the tein s-techs, so I'm for sure gonna go with those. Question though, did you do an alignment afterwards and did you have to get a camber kit?

I want coilovers too, but the springs will hold me over until I can afford them

I've tried 4 different shops around here to get an alignment, but I'm too low to get on their machine. Therefore, I haven't gotten an alignment. I can tell I'm running a little bit of negative camber in the rear, but it's nothing terrible. The front looks fine. It's not low enough to warrant buying a camber kit, but I'll get one whenever I get coils.

Looks great. Question: Why coilovers over springs? Do you plan on installing the springs yourself? If you really have a good reason for the use of coilovers, disregard the springs altogether and save up instead. My two cents anyway...

Yeah, from what I've read it seems like a camber kit isn't necessary at all with the tech-s springs. I think I'm gonna go the same route as you, put the springs on for now, save up for the coilovers cause the gap is really starting to bother me

haha i hear you man. i think i stared at the dremel and then at my grills for a good half hour before i actually got the courage to go ahead and do it it's actually a lot easier than it looks, just realllllllllllyy time constraining

Honestly, I wasn't even considering springs until I finished the car and saw the gap. I've always had my eyes on getting the Tein's and saving up for them, but I just feel like as a temporary thing I could go with the springs and then get the coilovers later on since the gaps really starting to bother me. I guess we'll see what happens, but I appreciate the advice man, thank u

What do you guys think, roof spoiler? I've been thinking about it for a while now, on the fence about it. I'd love everyone's opinion on it
