My '07 TL Type Slow journey
#41
the new Type S either make or break for me either own a Acura or moving to another brand, lately Acura throw nothing but shitty line up, the interior is cheap and ugly. Oh wait we gona duct tape fix it by throwing A-spec badge on everything.
#42
agree completely, but the new type s coming out is going to be legit. it won't disappoint with performance (finally), but i hope it looks good too.
#43
Hopefully it wont be making 350 HP lol, knowing Acuras since 2009 lol. I laugh every time a new sale rep at my local dealer trying to sell me the RDX and MDX by saying this car has performance with 272HP (2017 RDX), I replied yeah indeed a performance if you still living in the year of 1999. All BS aside I only buy the Type S if the performance number is around mid 400 HP, hell the Q50 Red Sport already making near mid 400hp in stock form.

those cars sound fun! but for now we enjoy our acura tl haha

I guess I can say is waiting for the official number as 350 is pretty under dog, can't even keep up with a N54 lol. Oh and they better fix that RLX line up too, it getting bigger but didn't fix anything that was the RL "cons". I guess its time to looking into the F cars lol.

Right of course not but at least you can do little stuff and yes, the interior seems like it is better than the TLs. I like the steering wheel the RL has. Mine needs to be rodone and wrapped thicker but no local shop will do it and I don't want to spend a grand on a fancy one. Oh well haha

Truong I have a quick question regarding servicing for the RL. Since the transmission is the same in the RL and in the 07-08 TL, I should be able to order the same timing belt kit for the RL as I did with my 07 base TL correct?
#61
Thanks for asking man, Coming along slowly but surely. Just got done bending the new brake lines along with the line lock. Hopefully I can bleed them this week. Turbo was mounted but the actual mount needs to be adjusted. I'll make an update on my build thread with pics
#62
the RL and the TL share about 80% parts but some with minor difference, as for the TB kit they should be the same for the TL-S and RL. I m pretty bless that I have a large amount of parts on had that interchangeable between my 4 sedans lol.

So I took the TL-S out the garage 1st time after a month, my TL-S decide to give me loud squeak noise come from the engine bay. I pop the hood and notice the tensioner was bouncing like a trampoline, luckily I had a extra new OEM tensioner assembly in my "spare part" inventory. Thank god I didn't put all the engine cover back on yet lol.
45 mins later and the noise is gone. I gotta to do this in Texas 103 heat.... FML
I didnt put a support floor jack because I NEVER go under the car.
During the madness and that dam ratchet wrench WILL help you shorten the time on the job SIGNIFICANTLY.
Upon completion my son decide to photobomb one of the pic.

the car experience couple winter in New England (hence if you look at the "back in the day" plate) other than that is enjoy the snow free Texas. However we got heat damage issues that you guy won't experience.

That is true, we don't usually get a lot of clear coat on paint peeling and terrible faded interiors like Texas cars might. But gosh for once I would like to work on a car that has terribly rusty exhaust or brake components. Luckily I got super lucky with my Michigan owned Acura.

I don't mind the hot weather since it does't require glove/ jacket and shoveling the drive way lmao.

^^^ I tried to as regularly I seen a lot of affordable performance car on the market, I think the "newish" car itch slowly catching up to me lol.
As for the J pipe goes I would put penetrate oil and let them sit over night, how bad is the bolt being rusted?

Front nuts are 14mm and the rear nuts are 13mm. If you use air tools remember that otherwise if you spin the rear 13's with a 14 its a bitch to get off. I had to pound a socket on to get it off... With that said I replaced the rears with a 14mm nut when I put the new J-pipe on.

I do not remember looking at the nuts last time I had it on the lift, I just know it will be terrible so Im expecting the worse. That being said I have a lift for the next two nights so Im ready to tackle it. PCD's, jpipe, CVD mod with ss line, oh and new axles. Gonna be funnnnnnnnn

My dealer mechanic once said "Dam I couldn't believe you have THREE 3g TLs" lmao.
