Would kinda match the neo-chrome lugs I got
No worries about being a dick, be a big of a dick as you want
And well, these caps don't add any extra steps to removing the lugs. It just plugs up the hole since my lugs are open-ended. Mutekis come with 17-to-19 adapter that goes over the entire lug so the caps shouldn't interfere
I was actually thinking about buying an electric impact gun. There's one for sale here... but not sure if I want to spend it solely for lugs (cause the thing is actually kind huge).

My new lugs+dust caps came in pretty quick.
Turns out the caps are actually too big... So I started shaving one of them to see how I can get it to fit.
The lugs themselves seem like any generic aluminum lug nut. Decently but... very light. Although this one is a little heavier than other brands I've seen.

Damn it’s been 3 years since my last post and I got... next to nothing done.
car sat there mainly in storage all that time. It’s only been driven less than 2000KMs (1,242miles) in 3ish years.
just recently put it back on the road and now keeping up with maintenance. Needs quite a bit of work as I keep finding issue after issue. (Repair one thing then next week another pops up).

wow. rude. nice to see you again too J
Here's your dirty pics.
I'm in the middle of an 07+ steering wheel swap. Did like 2 days of reading on Azine... and so many threads just left hanging. I tore everything apart and was ready to hook up the 07+ clock spring. Then... wow the connectors don't even fit! Totally different. Now I gotta figure out if it's the steering wheel connector that I should repin or the connector going into the clock spring.

For a while I actually didn't.
When I moved back to Montreal I took a lot of public transportation for the first year and a half of moving back. I drove the TL every so often (hardly). Then for half a year my younger sister lost her license so I just drove her Civic coupe for winter (and our winters are long so that's like Oct/Nov-April). Then I drove the TL once and got a ticket for... no reason. Cop just had it out for me. Couldn't find anything wrong with my car so forced me to get an inspection. I knew I'd pass the inspection--and if I did I'd get a certificate that OKs my mods. When I called the DMV they said $150 for the inspection---but then inquired about why I needed it then said it would cost $400 if I kept my car on coil overs AND I'd have to wait 5 months to do the inspection. That's just pure bullshit. (My coilovers were set to max height too so there was no tucking or of the sort) Now I'm in the process of fighting it. Then during that time I bought an 04 Odyssey to haul stuff around (wanted a wagon but the odyssey came up at an amazing price). Drove that for half a year before it started having issues then found another amazing deal on an 09 Odyssey.
Half of the mileage I drove in that 3 years was literally to go see Bruce to pick up parts lol.
During those 3 years I was low-key hoping someone stole or got into an accident with me so I'd have an "excuse" to get something else. But every time I looked at the TL and drove it I wanted to keep it.
Now I'm finally putting in work. Last year I even bought a cheap NBP TL with a blown tranny so I can use it for donor parts (and then part out the rest). Car is slowly looking new again. Being single as well (for the last 2 years now) also means more time and money to the TL

Here’s one of my favourite experiments I did for a local. White-tails with “galaxy themed” reflector. It’s made by hand and replaces the reflector. It’s also “3D” so it’s not a flat image. At different angles you see different layers of colours and reflections to the glittered “stars”. It was a one-off creation but I’ve been meaning to make a batch full and seeing if anyone would buy. And because these are hand made (from scratch) no two pieces will ever be identical.
I have another idea for the tail light as well... includes making scenes/photos like from Mario or the Simpsons even.

Example of scenes/images of what I gave in mind.
They would follow the same method. Handmade from scratch and “3D”. Like a shadow-box type of thing.

and yep! Y’know me! Always finding a way to be different and in this case helping others be different! Especially now with FB and instagram. Everyone’s car looks the same.
and... dang J, it sounds like you’re ready to sell and move on to the next again

Just did the 07+ steering wheel swap but half the controls aren't working.
Radio-mode button, Bluetooth and MID buttons on steering wheel are unresponsive. Haven't gone fast enough to test if cruise actually sets or not (the cruise light turns on though). I might have to depin everything and get a new connector.
OR maybe it's when I depinned the clock-spring connector from the steering column. I realized I messed up (wasn't supposed to) and then repinned everything. Pretty sure it's right lol.

BUT I have another 2x 07+ steering wheels. One 5AT TL-S and the 07/08 base. I'm just going to go the other method and use the 07+ clockspring and use a donor-plug. Waiting for some male-pins to come in so I can just use that to insert into the stock harness without tapping into wires.
And.... I've been good! Busy though! How ya been?

Thanks! Hope to see you around---whenever I do actually post lol
Jeep-jeep or like those SUV-Jeeps? lol. Those "jeep-jeeps" are fun to drive without doors and all.
S4s are already pretty preppy as is. I'll have to check out your thread again!

Small update: finally met up with a fabricator a week ago. Although I'm debating on this one's engineering skills. He definitely has the welding and fab skills... but his engineering and thinking outside the boxness skills aren't quite there. Would have preferred my original fabricator in Toronto (6 hour drive away from me) but he's too busy and I can't sync up a good time to drive and meet him. Additionally I'll need to get a spare rear spindle before I leave my car off with this fabricator.
On another note... Got scammed by who I thought was a friend. All the signs of scamming were there but because I knew and bought from him before I figured it was okay. Just a coincidence. Then... yepp. Scammed. Turns out he scammed another local member too. Called him out on FB and he agreed to pay the other guy 100/week for 16 weeks. Says he'll pay me back after he deals with that. Which I'm highly doubting. What an asshole.

Dude, no matter how close a friend...
Right is right...
I always say, let's not jeopardize the relationship by taking
that sort of leap of faith.
I didn't see what happened but I know you're a top guy so...
fuck whoever fucked you.

So he messages me one day cause he saw a post that I was looking to supercharge my TL. He claimed he had a CT charger for sale that he got from Bruce but he since sold his TL and now has a TLX. Additionally he moved to Toronto (originally from Montreal). He knew it wasn't what I wanted (was going to stroke to 3.6L and then get Andy's Rotrex) but he had trouble selling the CT since hardly anyone wants it these days. So I agreed to buy it from him. He asks for a deposit. A few days later I sent it. I had a friend of mine arrange to meet him on Saturday to pick up the blower. Things didn't pan out so they rescheduled for Sunday. Sunday comes and he sends my friend a message "Sorry I unexpectedly had to go to Kingston since my uncle wanted the family to leave early to beat any traffic to NY" (Kingston is 2-2.5 hours away from Toronto and Montreal). He said he brought the blower with him but someone would have to pick it up in Kingston. The fuck? Okay, whatever. I told him I'll pick it up when he's back in Canada. He agrees but later insists he ships it so it's done and over with. I was reluctant at first but eventually agreed to have him ship it. I give him my info. He sends me the tracking. Said it's Sunday and it'll be updated in the system when they scan it---and that additionally they'll send me an email. I checked a few hours later (he's in NY by this time) and the tracking doesn't work. I knew that's not how tracking works so I get worried but decide to wait till Monday noon to see what happens. Monday comes. Tracking still doesn't work. No email either. Wednesday comes around... same thing. He messages me on Wedneday asking if I received the things. I said no--the tracking he sent didn't work. He said he'll check it for me. Nothing. Saturday (or maybe it was Friday) comes around. I text him at 9am asking "Hey, can you just verify you sent the right tracking? You never got back to me and the tracking still doesn't work. Something is off..." then HE BLOWS UP on me saying I was being impatient and ruining his trip in NY by sending a message so early. Seeing that I get PISSED. The entire week he's been messaging me at 7am straight through noon. When I was working and wouldn't reply he would constantly call and text me yet he couldn't handle a polite message on a Saturday morning? Fuck that. So I went on to the local FB group and asked simply if anyone had dealt with him before. I didn't even ask if he was a scammer at that point. He starts texting me saying why would I ask that--that he's not a scammer." Then I started saw a comment in the FB group. Someone said "yeah, he said he shipped me something. It never came and now I lost $1,600. This was almost a year ago." and then other comments started agreeing that his side to the story wasn't adding up and that he was likely scamming me and only stuck around for damage control. Eventually I get persuaded to message his girlfriend (who I e-transferred $2100 to via online banking). I did and tell her that she's now part of his scamming and if reported to the police then she could be held liable too. So he messages me hours later and freaks out on me. After A LOT of back and forth he said he'll try to pay me back after he pays back the other guy the $1,600 but with back surgery coming up (he has athritis--and that's why he went to NY). He apparently got the other guy to agree to getting paid $100/week.
Oh yeah... what I left out was when he was in NY he told me "sorry man when I get back to Canada I can't help you with this anymore" but he wasn't even helping me in NY. He was essentially saying "Yeah you're fucked. no charger or no refund for you." and the entire time I kept trying to give him the benefit of the doubt---I kept telling him "IF you really did send it... then it's not just me who's losing $2100. I'll be losing $2100 but we'll BOTH be losing the super charger".
Oh and another thing... he said he called them on Thursday. That he called the office and that they used the tracking he gave and they said it was "delivered" which is horse shit. Then he tried to spin it on me saying I probably received it but tried to fuck him. I then told him I had security cameras around my house and I can prove I never got anything. Then he determined it was probably sent to the wrong address. So I called the post office HQ and they said if I can't track the ID then no one can. It's not in the system so it's impossible the store could find it. So I got back to him and told him that. Then asked again, politely, that maybe the tracking he gave me was wrong... assuming he was telling the truth.
Then, yeah, after that post on FB and that whole drama he said he's going to try to pay me back. Which I highly doubt. Then I told him "Look. I don't even care about the $2100 as much. I care cause you fucked me and I thought you were a friend. You're tight on cash and got surgery. You can't work. So I'll make you a deal. If you just send me $1000 then I won't go to the police and I'll drop the rest of what you owe. I have a meeting with a fabricator and that $1000 can be used as my deposit." then he said he didn't need my charity. That "I'm like you---I care about what people think and if I said I'll do it then I'll do it."
But now the whole Corona virus shit happened and I don't even know what's going on.
And also. Nice! I always wanted a Jeep-Jeep. My friend had a few back in the day but it was also the Cherokee Sport. It was still fun. But the day I got to be in a virtually open Jeep-Jeep my life changed lol

Dude, my dad's cherokee sport drives substantially better than my WANGler. (credit to @cu2wagon )
Back in my EPhatch days...I had a guy meet me to buy the HFP wheels...we meet in a parking lot...he brought his hot gf. He's like, Ayo, cool dude, I can hit you with half the cash now (not what we agreed to). I was like, sorry man, no offense but I don't do business like that. All of it, or let's just go our separate ways. Well, he did pay me and got the wheels but then he sold the wheels on his car to another guy on the forum that he took the money from and never sent the wheels. I tried to call him to ask him wtf and he hung up on me. Shithead.

I remember the Cherokee Sport being incredibly torquey but y'know, something about driving in an open "WANGler" is pretty damned awesome too lol.

So my TL semi-died last month. It's been burning oil for like the last 5 years but nothing too crazy. I usually top off my oil every week or two. Well... I didn't drive it for nearly 2 weeks. There's no leakage or anything of the sort. I drive it in the morning to work, then circle back to run errands. Get off the freeway and sit at the red light... suddenly car doesn't move. Turns out it QUIETLY died. No weird sound before or during the drive or when it stalled itself. I'm panicking now cause I'm in the middle of a busy 5 lane road and people here are either jackasses on the road or complete "morans". Pop my hood, check for damages or any crazy leaks... nothing. Check fluids and oil was bone dry. The fuck? Luckily I had oil in my car. Poured an entire jug (about 4L--just over 4qrts). It wouldn't initially start. Eventually it did... but it wouldn't idle or it would stall. No CEL no misfires. Had to keep idle up above 2k. After two blocks of driving carefully and keeping revs up the car starts shooting white smoke. Well, that was probably my head gasket just now. Still no weird noises. Drive to my mom's. Leave the TL there and borrow her Infiniti EX35. 15 minutes later of driving... 2 coolant hoses randomly rupture and spray coolant and smoke everywhere. What the actual fuck? So now 2 cars are down. Had her sent off to be replaced. My TL just sat there as I tried to diagnose what was really the issue. Get home and see the car is keeping oil now but it's starting to burn through coolant. That's nice. Still no leaks or any of the sort even after hosing down and cleaning the engine out. Check the next day, car finally idles... CEL finally shows up... car starts to misfire on all cylinders... white smoke probably about x3 as worse as the previous day. Didn't even bother diagnosing the rest. Calling it done.
Now my options to fix are...
J32 from scrap yard for $400 and call it a day
or
J35a8 from wherever+tranny
or
J36 stroker build (no shop seems to want to install the 3.7 crank, bearing and rods though or even redo the block)
or (what I'm leaning to)
J35a6 with RL camshafts (I have RL pistons too but probably no point in installing them). Do I risk $400 at the u-pull/scrapyard or pay $1200 at the JDM shop for a guarantee engine? Hmn...
In the mean time I ended up buying a 2002 Volvo XC70. Great wagon... very slow on the freeway. WOT is amusing at how slow it moves. Ended up throwing quite a lot of money at it already when I should realistically be fixing the TL lol.
Volvo has (waiting for shipment) downpipe, exhaust, 19" wheels (nicer than both my TL wheels to be honest), springs, android radio unit, retrofits, new fogs, brembo brakes on all 4 corners, and eventually a tune since this thing has no top end power. I feel like the Volvo needs a good 50whp to really be more enjoyable and actually start moving on the freeway with minimal effort.
-----
Back on TL news. I was a huge idiot and accidentally made my 2 piston rear brembo templates... upside down. So I had to redo them lol. Sent them out to the fabricator and now he's working on it. Going to try to have him also make brackets for a 4 piston rear brembo set up (which should be easier than the 2 piston). As mentioned in my brake thread in the performance section...
I'm going to start experimenting with the TL brakes even more. I think I found a near plug and play solution for 6MT/TL-S users to swap Brembos and use a 14" front rotor. If possible a 14" front with my 12" rear+2 piston brembo should be the perfect solution for a proper brake set-up and maintaining as much of the stock brake bias as possible. Buuuuut..... That's all speculation as I haven't calculated the math yet.

The car... feels entirely different. Incredibly fun to drive. I kept the J35A6 IM/TB for now as I have the J37 waiting for powder coating. So I have 2 plugs left unplugged. So no butterfly valve in the IM for me and whatever plug for the vac-line.
Kinda went overboard the last 2 months with parts... lots of good deals popped up and I went down a rabbit hole.
So... soon to come: CT Supercharger, Hondata, battery relocation, intercooler, wide body, new headlights.... maybe I'll finally get off my ass and start moving some of these projects along during the winter. My TL has been virtually neglected for the last 3-5 years. Just sitting there for an occasional drive. Finally dumped money to fix and mod it---but now winter is here

Small ish big ish update to one of my ongoing projects. Final mock up of my 2 piston rear caliper brackets finally done. Final version coming very shortly.
Soon is product testing... then sending it to others to help product test with me. And if all goes well---marketing phase. But it's come to my attention there are others who are doing this exact mod on Facebook though. Unsure if I spoke to them in the past or not. I would however LOVE to see someone put this kit in it's place and compare it between this, stock and the one dude's 4 piston Tesla caliper conversion.
I myself will be putting it to the test with an 'as-is' stock set up, stock with new base pads and rotors, new pads and rotors + SS lines, and then this kit with SS lines.

Null and proud of it
Ended up getting the J35A6. Installed it with: J35A8 RL camshafts, RV6 PCD and RV6 V3 JPipe.

Fuck facebook and all the clowns on there that think they invented the game.
If I still had one I would volunteer AND I would pay for the product because
as the end user with a passion for car shit, the backbone of that is little shops
with the same passion that put in the work research and money to get shit made.
If they don't like it they can order some fender grills from carID or something.

Unfortunately my indoor garage just barely fits the TL. I have about 1 foot length of working room from the front/rear.
In the mean time I can do the other small things to prep. Or... rent a hoist one day and just do what I can. It's got winters on so it's still drivable for winter.
Thanks for the very kind words J!
And yeah you know me---I love tinkering and making things work when they shouldn't. FB group is nice. But there's a lot of misinformation floating around there. More than Acurazine I'd say since it's much easier to regurgitate false info. There's also a lot of flakers there. Which is why I try to with-hold whatever info I can even while I'm trying to be useful. The other guy who ended up doing the same caliper mods as me kept probing for rotor size and bracket design. I happily pointed him to my caliper bracket thread here on Azine... but I ain't straight out giving him my own designs. That's whack. Wasn't just him though. Had a few other people probing me to give them all the info as if they deserved to know it.
Yeah I most likely changed it from when you last had it! I'll PM you my new one

You're an innovator and generous person.

EVO X Recaro seats in (tentatively).
My car is a mess 'cause it's been sitting in storage-as storage for nearly a year.
Found 3 holes from rust in my floor board which I need to take care of. One of them is right at one of the mounts for the driver seat. Sketchy.
Have to swap seat belt buckles and then figure out what to do with the wiring. Might take plugs from the old seat and use it as a donor so I can repin and make it plug and play to keep the heated seats and seat belt. Either that or I just connect it with pins directly into the connector. Airbag uses the same connector and is the same resistance. Would be cool if the seats also share similar system to our OPDS... speaking of which I might just shove the OEM OPDS system into the Recaros instead of the floor board (since there's holes in it anyway).
Also the brackets were fabricated and designed 1:1 of the TL... which resulted in the passenger seat sitting roughly 2 inches higher than the driver seat. This bothers the hell out of me. Gotta cut the brackets and have the fabricator reweld them (he was supposed to do that but didn't seem to readjust). In the end I should've just went with premade seat brackets... nearly ended up costing me the same amount of money.
Also debating if I should match the Recaro plastic trim to my steering wheel or go with a different type of carbon finish. Maybe the same material that will match my trunk (triaxial spread tow. It looks like the "floor" from QBert, classic 2x2 twill or go with a chopped/forged look).
