As for the Kia, I've had one of those as a rental. MPG was good, exterior los are decent but on the inside you're reminded its a Kia. Materials, Fit and Finish feel cheap.
Taurus SHO....not a fan of the interior and exterior aesthetics.
BMW X5 (dream car).......still too pricey used
Infiniti.......the M37 is the only larger sedan that comes into my search under $30k (don't want a G and the Q still seems to be too expensive). But who knew about the M37S.....damn, it seems pretty nice.
Lexus GS F Sport

You're right, the interior does suck...
My brother has an SX-Turbo and it's so much better than the 04-08 TL interior. You probably rented a base model, which we all know aren't the greatest. Check out the Turbo or Limited editions.
Can't go wrong with the q50. Then again I maybe biased
Got any pics of yours??

Actually i'm pretty sure it was the base model. Just felt cheap....not bad or unreliable or very ugly....just cheap
Backed out of my deal at the last minute literally I was getting a pretty sweet deal but I'm glad it happened that way. Decided I'm going to get sport model. It's crazy how much these cars depreciate in a year. I'm saving 10 to 15k buying used. I did test drive the GS 350 but I wasn't impressed. Too silky smooth and cushy for me
The Q's have been growing on me lately. Wheels and a slight drop and they are sexy. The software issues scare the shit out of me though. And frankly the engine is kind of dated.
Please God don't go from a hot blown 3G to a Kia. Lol
I must admit i'm really into this car right now. But it would have to be the S version and i think it looks best in black although i would love to avoid black this time around.
Not bad. Something about the front end turns me off a little. It's like too "bull-headed" or something. And with that front end it makes the rear end look "smooshed". Still has good lines though in the end and tech up the wazoo...
Do the M's have the software issues the Qs do?
Either way a Q or M would be a sizable upgrade over a 3G. And I'd take either over a 4G.
Edit: What about some of the new Buicks? Lol. No joke.

You know what, i've been thinking something similar. I do like the front end but with such a big front end the rear does look small/short. Something like those short assed Mercedes that have come out in the last 5 years or so which i'm not a fan of (i think its called the CLS).
Which brings me back to the E350.....it has good lines. Actually it has a similar sharp lined, wedge shape that i liked so much about the 3G TL.
I heard alot about the interior. The 2012s have alot of nice technology (panoramic roof wouldn't hurt either). Many people comment about how it feels like such a cocoon in there...isolated from road noise, in your own little luxury, high tech world.
I would like to have my own little luxury high tech world.
I saw a new buick regal the other day...sporty as hell, the factory wheels look like adv.1 20" with some brembo's behind. All I could think is THIS AINT YO GRANDADDY'S Buick!
I don't know why I have zero interest in MB. There's no good reason for it...even driving down the road today, I kept seeing them and I thought about this thread and your buddy pushing for MB. I kept thinking, why do I dislike them...they are solid and cool looking, pretty cutting edge relevant look...powerful.
Dude, besides your total dollar limitations, you need to consider maintenance. The Buick vs. Mercedes-you see where I'm going.
Before I bought the Corvette, I was saving for a Lambo. Then I googled "Maintenance Costs for a Lamborghini". 12 cylinder oil changes were $2,000! New clutches were $12,000 installed.
Yea man the Buicks are kind of nice. Lol. They look sporty, ride nice, AWD if you want, a smooth 6 or a nice turbo 4, can come with Brembos, etc. And I imagine they are cheap to work on.
I feel the same way about the MBs too J. I can never see myself cruising down the road on a nice Sunday in lounge clothes and a ball cap. Like I could see myself going to work in a suit in one...but not casual. But the interiors.... so refined...so quiet. They are expensive to work on.
Actually i would only buy used with warranty still left on it (maybe extended warranty). I am really trying to stay in my three main Jap products (Honda, Nissan, Toyota...or luxury versions of these) but i'm not excited about any of these for what i'm looking for right now. I would consider a 4G TL or premium version of Maxima but i would be settling and might regret it.
Regarding expensive to work on.....i really wonder how much more expensive it is to work on a mid-level Mercedes than other newer, high-tech cars. Technology in cars is making where your normal good-guy mechanic can do less and less. At this point a significant mechanical problem in a 2012 TL or a 2012 Mercedes is gonna need the right tools, equipment and know-how that the normal run of the mill mechanic i've been using for 10 years probably wont be able to handle. Now you would hope there is a price difference for parts but more and more cost of maintenance and repairs are getting more costly across the board. The main benefit to the Japanese car is that the probability of even needed the repair is lower.
Yes and no...in a way, I feel like the new technology makes it more likely to have stuff break, but then it's also easier to plug into and have the car tell you exactly what to replace. I mean, the times of scratching your head and trying to figure out the air fuel spark issues are pretty much over. just bam...this symptom or cel code...here are 4 things it might be...
With so many domestics sourcing foreign parts and foreign cars being made here...I think the line in the sand is getting a little blurry. If you like a shape, and it's within budget...they all got bluetooth and back up cameras now. AC seats though...that I need one day!

That wouldn't shock me.
Watched this car show last night...guy bought a 997T off an insurance claim where they totaled it because the seats and dash were slashed with a razor. He paid $31K for it.
Ok, guys i've thinking and reading and reading and thinking. I am really not sure what i want to do at this point. I am confused which car would best fit my needs and desires. European, Japanese, maintenance costs, sporty look, bla, bla, bla, etc, etc..
So i have decided to say screw it!! I am going to put the money earned from the sale of the TL into a money market savings account and allow it to earn 0.0035% interest. In 5 years i should have earned an extra $82 dollars which i can use to pay for an oil change for my truck.
oh, if you get that car you will likely get all the trim you can handle
You'll probably think it's dumb, but I was thinking the 07-09 MDX in lieu of TL (for automatic traffic and home depot ability) and keep the S2000 for manual tranny fun.
