MAS Progress Thread (Comptech/Hondata/Aspec/ATLP/RV6/JnC/Sarona/.......)

Just got an email from Honda of North America. They apologized and agreed this is what the 2004 Acura TL was supposed to be like. Unfortunately the lowered suspension, flush A-Specs, blackened headlight, black grill, fog lights and extra power were not approved by the powers that be back then. I should be receiving a check in the mail any time now for the extra expenses I incurred while making the car the way it was originally intended to be. Haha.

Still looking great Marco.
J- get the SC!
When I get around to getting a new DD, I'll be going the SC route as well on the TL.

Guys, I appreciate it very much. I have to say, I'm not a fan of black wheels, at all.
I'm looking at other options though.....

Just read this entire thread over 2 days at work on my free time.
1. Your car is so damn clean. Love the wheel choices, love the mods, this is how a NBP TL should look. It's really given me some inspiration for mine.
2. Sad to know you're considering selling it, you must have second thoughts every time you walk to/away from it.
3. Screw you guys in Florida man!

The telephone area code here is "416" - 6 for short. I'm not a fan of it, but the music is good.

Yeah, apparently it comes from the 2 area codes the city has, 416 or 647 (6's in both) or... and I personally like this one better... is that the City of Toronto became so in '98 with the amalgamation of 6 municipalities to form one "megacity", as they called it.
Now, that may make a little more sense than what Drake can come up with so he was probably referring to the area codes thing... but personally, I'd like to think it was the latter.
Reminds you of drake because its wants to be black but there's a little white (or tan) on the inside? (ps im sorry)

Confusing Name Guy
Drizzy is definitely referring to the area code, he wishes he was deep enough to include amalgamation in his flow (and I'm a City of Toronto employee so I should know lol).
#1295
Also, yeah I'm not even sure he knows how to pronounce amalgamation.
MAS I believe you said your grill was NBP, was it professionally done? and NBP paint code i'm assuming?

Damn the "6" is in the houzzzz. Yeah boii, eh!! Wassap my Canadian brethren. I've been up there a couple times but never to Toronto, only to Edmonton, Ottawa, Quebec. Although i havent been up there in a long while since my last trip scarred me (-20F).
Thanks for all the great compliments gents.

I know its not #tbt but who cares. I guess its #FlashbackFriday. A post from 2 years ago....its been a fun journey!
So i started around 9am. I just started following the COmptech instructions from the beginning and skipping the items i had already done.
So here is what i did today:
-bumper off
-radiator hoses swapped
-spark plugs swapped
-RSX-S injectors swapped
-fan shroud shaved
-OEM belt removed
-alternator bracket swapped for S/C support bracket
Had 2 issues that delayed me because i had a trip to Home Depot for each:
-dropped one of the injector clips into the runner port (that one scared me for a sec)
-needed a large washer for the S/C support for the tranny mount
I know, i know....not a huge amount of progress for 9-6 but i was moving slowly and carefully as i haven't messed with a car like this since i was a kid and i would help my dad.
Here's a pic when i started:
Here's a pic at todays deepest point (when i was installing the injectors):
And here's a couple pics when i finished with a rushed cleanup so i could go out and have a couple beers:
Here's how its going to sleep tonight. I bought these rollers super cheap at Harbor Freight so i could work on it in the middle of the garage and push it over when done so my truck doesn't have to sleep outside. Got the idea from a co-worker.
Anyways tomorrow i'm back at it. THis time with some help from my brother-in-law.
Once again gotta say how freakin cool it is to mess with this stuff. I must admit today getting in deeper with this than i had before i started to get a bit nervous. Am i going to screw something up? Will this turn out good? I dont normally mess this much with cars but you gotta get out of your comfort zone sometimes. Gotta try things you are not sure you will be able to do. Life would be boring without the moments of self doubt followed by moments of accomplishment. ANyways, having a blast. Hope you enjoy the pics and my story.
Gotta go, beers are warming up while i type.

So i'm gonna start making my own meth.
Meth mix that is.
I hear your supposed to mix it with distilled water. Most mixes you buy are at 50/50. The guy are the speed shop was trying to convince me to run it pure but its highly flammable and i'm not crazy about the idea. I gonna be mixing it lower than 50/50....probably like 70% meth to give it some more help for these coming summer months.
Anyways back to the science project i go. Chat with you later dudes.
PS - Have fun at the meet tomorrow S. Florida crew.

So I'm trying to convince myself not to sell the TL. Putting the Aspecs back on for a while has helped because I have gotten plenty of compliments with them on. Now I'm looking to change something else to mix it up. I was wondering how long it has been since I removed the tints (good thing I have a build thread huh) and found this post from over 2 yrs ago. I never imagined it had been that long...especially tintless here in Florida. So Im considering to tint the crap out of this car, going 5% limo tint (Same as I've got in the truck). It bugs me that I can't tint the front like I used to do back when I lived in Puerto Rico (I hate the difference from front to side) but I think it is a simple, cheap mod that will change the look of the car. I will probably put the other wheels back on for a while because with the Aspecs it's all just too dark. Anyways some slight changes coming soon. In the mean time here is a quick pic in its current state from yesterday.

Don't sell the car.
Tint it...Darkest legal with front/back match is perfect, to me. 26% or whatever it is...
Also, I've been doing this for many years, Marco...swap tails, swap heads, lower, raise, aspecs... Gotta keep the look fresh and your mind entertained. I won't clutter your thread with my car, but took a few new ones last night I'm gonna post.
Keep it, man. I do truly think you'll regret it.

Yeah I had that full matched tint for the first couple years I had the car so this time I'm gonna try something different. Thinking 5% for the full blacked out look. Reality is I look the no tint look on it so well see if it actually go thru with it. I've also been considering for a very long time to brighten up the front end by putting in totally cleared headlights. I love the current headlight oem look but from afar the front can look too dark sometimes. Would have to buy an extra set like you have to be able to have the full flexibility.
#1317
You see how his headlights brighten up the front a bit more. It's got me thinking.
Almost a month passed by, Mounted the rear covers, refinished the head lights, and was able to wash and wax it FINALLY.
I also ordered a new pad and compound for my makita polisher.
Wish I had more to update, but work and locking in a new place has been rough. Trying to get some good photos from a photographer, along with some rolling shots.
These are just some shots I took with my Girls camera (Canon Rebel T1i). I didn't do much to change the settings, I was more worried about the sun going down. I love this spot and will go back to it, but only when the lighting is right.
Not the best pictures but I will play with the camera more and return.
