No worries, its all in good fun. I just actually have exhaust on my mind currently more than drop. The wheels are very flush so a drop would get me closer to the fender and closer to rubbing concerns. I'm enjoying absolutely no worries about that right now. No slow entrance into ramps and over bumps. No worries about dips on the highway. No worries about any of that stuff. Of course i am still considering a drop but exhaust is currently more on my mind than that. Actually with the TL i learned that the only way to get the absolute perfect drop is thru many, small adjustments over time with coilovers. So i'm not sure i would even be totally happy with just springs because i ignored the warnings and initially went the spring route already on the TL.....only to learn my lesson afterwards with the coilovers. KNow what i mean?

Do your research on springs. I agree that most cars don't sit right with them. I've seen cars that don't lower enough, have a reverse rake, or don't lower the same amount from side to side. A friend of mine installed springs on his MK7 R and it sits perfect! It's the first car I've seen that doesn't require coils to get the perfect stance.

No doubt, man...
check out if H&R makes a street performance coilover for you. Best coils I've ever ridden on (on my S2000 right now).

I'd love to see what exhaust you come up with.

That S5 and 911 were both on H&R springs and the stance was perfection.

I imagine those are the lower option springs available. I definitely wouldn't go that low. Too low for a Benz in my opinion.

Meh, i've always like a bit more gap than that anyways (even back with the TL). Now with the Benz i'm ok with even a little more gap than the TL. I think I'm a little OCD but i don't like the gap above the tire to be so much different from the gap around the rest of the tire (front & back). I like a somewhat even gap around the tire and i like to see a little bit of the tire. I also like not driving slow and worried always because of rubbing or scraping.

Would be but its probably very expensive. Actually you gave me an idea and i'm gonna swing by the muffler shop and tell the AMG owner that if he ever swaps his out that i would be interested. COnsidering removing resonators as first step.

I would think they do make coilovers for it but i'm just not ready to spend another $1k right now. Springs MIGHT end up nice but what if they dont. I am so damn picky (probably adjusted the TL more than 10 times before satisfied) that i would probably not be 100% and end up regretting not getting coils.

Based on my extensive experience with the TL exhaust i'm guessing i could achieve the low volume, deep tone i'm considering if i installed this........resonator deletes + magnaflow mufflers + vibrant quiet resonators.

on the TL it was easy...I stuck with TEIN...with TEIN I am maxed out and it's perfect. I couldn't adjust it any more and I'm happy with that!

Coils for sure...

about the exhaust...are there people already hacking up, paving the way? Or you'd be the first with trial and error?

I agree, i am not in a hurry to chop up the exhaust right now. Actually still only thinking about whether its a good idea and how much is enough. I have not been able to find enough info on this online. Most available info is for the 6.3L V8 AMG version of this car. Seems like the guys that buy that beast get into modding.....the old farts that buy the regular version don't seem to get into too much modding (or at least they dont document it much).

You don't buy a Merc to mod it...

Although I like the aftermarket wheels you got, personally, it takes away from the originality of the car.

Exhaust =

Again, that's just me.

I hear ya man, i think there is a real fine line of what you do to a car like this to keep its original design still be the main focal point. I think the wheels are subtle oem-ish look. Any exhaust sound (if i decided to actually do it) would be low volume, deep tone....probably close to what the AMG version sounds like. Besides that its pure white LEDs where they aren't already installed. I think that's it.

Mainly focused on enjoying it right now. Its really quiet inside. You dont even get the urge to go fast because your just comfortable, laid back in there.

I think the fact that you never see it done, is what draws your attention when you see one that is tastefully modded.

Tastefully is the operative word and I don't think a slight drop or a nice exhaust note detract from that goal.

Every car has to make a noise.. My Prius has a speaker that makes a noise .. Lol. Because it is too quiet! Toyota has it make a spaceship noise at low speeds for pedestrians! If you never heard it, look for a Prius in a parking lot next time lol and listen!

When I was young I wanted all my cars loud.. Now that I'm older it varies with which car I have. For that car a low rumble like an infinity would be good with me!

As for sportier cars like an s2000.. I want it to sound like an f1 car lol

Just wanted to throw this out there - Cruised with a CLA45 AMG last night and while I realize its got a turbo 4 in there, it was super loud, super deep tone. It also backfired like no tomorrow on downshifts. I was positively hooked, didn't want to peel off and go home lol. I think I drove 2 extra blocks beside him

I've also ridden INSIDE a C63 coupe, and its loud as hell. So I don't think a Benz necessarily HAS to be quiet and stately, albeit most are

So the conclusion is (and I totally agree) a subtle exhaust note is acceptable. Now to start my homework on that.

Next question (a sensitive one for me after the loss of my beloved Sarona) ........to roof spoiler or not to roof spoiler. That is the question.

W212?

Biggest question you have to ask yourself, Marco.

Are you willing to lose it? At $500...I'd say fuck to the now. But if there are painted replicas that cost $100...fuck it, stolen, replace, stolen, wire up to c4 and blow those fuckers up.

LEDs & Roof Spoiler ordered.

Still thinking about the exhaust. Not sure what to do yet. Not much info online about other people going down this road with this specific engine (plenty of E63 exhaust info). For the moment untul I decide on exhaust tone options I've been looking at the tips. There really is something I don't like about the oem exhaust tips. They are just to bland and boring. Would like oval ones I think. But in the mean time I think I'm going to paint them flay black so they blend in with the bottom of the bumper and bother me less (at least until I find a good alternative). Gonna try to do it tomorrow, before and after pics coming soon.

Roof spoiler installed ($160 painted, not bad). Exhaust is next, although it's been tough because I'm not finding good videos of other people's exhaust on the same car. Might have to roll the dice on one without having a good idea on sound. Considering some Borla cans, they seem to sound deep.

Thx man. I would've liked for the angle to match the angle of the trunk spoiler. I modified the Sarona for this when I installed it on the TL, but this one is way off and no amount of shaving would've gotten it there.

I also bought all the LEDs for the interior but i again learned the lesson about buying cheap stuff. I had heard so much about the eBay LEDs being the same as the premium ones but it's not true (at least not with what I bought). They are dim pieces of shit. I'll go back to VLED unless someone else has a good recommendation.

Lastly on exhaust I'm really a bit lost. If i could but some used ATLP cans I would. At least I would have an idea of what I'm getting. Really don't want to roll the dice but I'm running out of options.

No doubt, looks awesome.
About the LED's...I ended up liking the panel boards...smd ones...they are usually bright as fuck and come with the 3 different universal ends

about the exhaust...no telling how your particular motor would sound. Do they perhaps sell a performance upgrade like a j pipe type of thing...something that might give you a grumble without hacking the exhaust?

Remus make an exhaust for your car? Probably just tips, right?

My puddle light game is on fleek. Haha, not sure what it means but i think it's good. More pics tomorrow.

Ps - Remus (and Brabus) make good ones but it's pretty expensive.

So the factory bulb was so weak i didn't even know it had puddle lights. Was looking online and found it out so i quickly put some LEDs in there to maximize the look. Here are some pics, loving the look.

Here are some pics of the roof spoiler.

What a nice view I get when I come back home from a drive in the truck. Looking sweet.

Side note, I removed the resonator today. Unfortunately it didn't make enough of a change in sound so I'm gonna have to keep looking.

Ps - thinking about painting the calipers a different color (break up all the grey). What colors would you guys recommend?
