Shoot...at $99 I'll jump all over that...I just want the image stabilization, rapid white balance adjusting, and clear sound with the wind mitigation thingamajigga...

I'll have to start digging...might be time to upgrade given how often I document stuff...might be a good gift from wifey. She's always asking me what I want...but I already got it all! hahaha...

Okay, took your advice...still need to modify the speaker and white balance, but not bad. Changed to 720P 60 FPS rather than 1080 @30...seems a little crisper!

Sound isn't great but for 5 year old technology, not too bad.

That's what I recorded in J. 720p @60fps with super view. Overall it's a good video and at least you could see your speedometer. In mine it was dark. If you could adjust the mic to reduce wind noise I wouldn't even bother buying another camera for the time being.

True...good thinking.
Thanks, man...this morning I took two videos, off the passenger window to see if it mitigated some of the wind noise. I also messed with white balance/sharpness and took one in 720 and one in 1080@30FPS. I'll check them out when I get home.

virb audio is fucking horrible..
Sony has a stereo mic - 2ch MPEG-4 Audio.
Virb appears to be mono mic with very lossy encoding.

Don't tell me you honestly thought that vid highlighted the virb. Past the wind noise the virb audio is numb, no clarity. Also check how jittery the virb is. If it has image stabilization it's piss poor. No better than a GoPro in my book.

yeah the mic is not as sensitive, hence I thought it might be ideal to put on the outside of the car and "avoid" some wind noise...but you make a very good point, the virb does lack that audio clarity!

also, yes, am not a huge fan of the stabilization on the virb...

Does Image Stabilization really works? Garmi VIRB Elite VS Sony ActionCam AS30V - YouTube
I think you have solved the dilemma in my head...time to look into the ActionCam

I'm not a sony fanboi.. I absolutely hate the gopro. When it first came out, I was like.. why are people paying so much for a camera that I bought in China for thirrtteee dolllars. They're a marketing machine.. kudos to them for building such a profitable brand. Action cam isn't without some faults, but they've had consistent firmware updates and have addressed many issues including issues with their housings. At some point Sony is going to screw it up to compete with the marketing machine, but for now, they seem to be doing it right.

makes sense Maj...I am not biased towards one product or another, I just want to make sure I get the best bang for the buck! Now to research which Sony model is a good buy haha

Chip, if the GoPro has nudes of the neighbor, you got a good deal imo

In all this I totally forgot to mention couple things:

1> even though you went in a downpour, your shirt had no rain...it was effin awesome to see...
2> I didnt realize the roof retracts and comes back that quick...WOW
3> are the rear rotors on the S just like on the TL? to remove the rear rotor you have to align the hole at 6pm and insert a flat head and turn the star wheel while rotating the rotor until the shoe contacts the surface...it was a pain while I was helping a local member replace his rear rotors...

Not only did he put them back in...they are NEW retention screws because I went to Honda to buy them after having to drill out and retap all 4 holes. I wanted them to be there since they were original...added a dab of anti-seize too.

Chip, don't kill yourself...the gopro ain't bad.

Sorry I'm just now checking out your progress. I'm insanely jealous and I knew I would start looking at AP2s again if I visited here too often

As long as you are going fast enough, you can avoid a lot of the rain from falling on you. However, it was starting to come off the windshield into the side of the car by the mirror and running down the door.

Yes, the top of this car retracts very quickly. I think it is one of the quickest cars to put the top back up/down, if not the fastest.

Nah, the rear rotors didn't require all the work to get them off. Those came off fairly easy. Hardest part of the rears was turning them back in and the frozen brake lines.

Yeah, as J stated, he went through the trouble of putting new ones in so I figured I would put them back on. Can't hurt to have a little extra holding them centered into place. I also put antiseize on them as well when I put them back on just in case for the future.

Thanks Tyler! Dew it! That way we can all be on the same page again with having the same car in common.

I wish I could. It seems like the house has been consuming most of my time and money recently. Once everything slows down I might look into picking up an AP2, but it'll be a while

Good news is that wifey already approved I couldn't believe it.

Click his name, then look for his threads. I can show you, if you like.

Penguin...you will not regret it. You were my inspiration to get one...and I know you missed out on getting one...buy them while they're between production and collector's items!

Chip, thanks for doing that...it would have hurt if you didn't put the retaining screws back in. You're going to think my car is SOOOO SLOW next time you drive it.

I'm hoping to find one early next year right before my birthday I really want Laguna Blue Pearl but they all seem to be out of my price range. We'll see what's available!
