Dammit J, blew my cover. Guess I'll be posting those pics shortly.

Sure the V3 Tritons are better if you don't mind having turn signals brighter looking than your HID's. And also if you don't want your turn signals to work anymore and have to get replacement bulbs in about 3 months of ownership, LOL!

Had some free time and wanted to try doing something with the engine covers. I bought a few cans of white plasti dip and a can of clear coat and painted them.

I want to give a big shout out and thank you to Aaron (Sharksbreath) for wrapping my main engine cover with 3M Di-noc CF wrap. He did an awesome job and it came out fantastic. Thanks man!

I'm not quite sure how I feel about the outcome of the other engine covers though. I knew the white plasti dip wasn't going to match the WDP paint exactly, but I didn't think the difference would be so drastic. It makes my car almost look like an eggshell color in comparison because the covers are so white. I know white goes with anything, but having 2 different non-matching whites is making me question leaving them the way they are, or painting them a different color.

Originally I wanted to do a bright color, I was thinking hot pink to be funny, because after all, it's only plasti dip and it can be peeled off. But now I'm actually thinking of buying the Blaze Purple dip and spraying them that color to kind of match the neo chrome lugs.

I took a few pics of the covers in direct sunlight and then in the shade so you can get an idea of the color. What do you guys think? Leave them alone or maybe paint them purple, or even a different color?

I also gave the car a little TLC with a nice wash and some tire shine.

Chip doesn't "like" me...

Seriously though...your car has come so far, man. Engine bay does look fantastic...I don't think you should spend too much time staring at the color difference...or maybe lay a coat of WDP over the plastidip and then clear again.

I'm not a fan of the white covers on a white car, I think it looks tacky IMO. It reminds me of 10 years ago when everyone painted all the black plastics on their car the same as the body color and it didn't match. It looked like crap and made the car look cheap. I think a different color to offer some contrast and make it pop will look a lot better.

Thanks for the feedback guys, both positive and negative. Part of me is lazy and just wants to leave the covers white, but there is still a big part of me that wants to change them to something else because of the mismatch in color. Decisions decisions...

So, it turns out I'm not lazy. I went out and bought a couple cans of black plasti dip and I'm starting the project over. I'm just going to paint over the white instead of wasting time peeling everything off.

I'm hoping the color that I bought gets here by the end of the week so I can finish this up and take some pics.

You ever thought about adding a TL-S grill? I think it will match your wheels. I love the cf engine cover

I like painted engine covers; I'd go with silver gunmetal

I never really thought about adding one. Not that I don't like them, but I kinda prefer the more subtle coloring of the base grill.

Hopefully I'll have everything done this weekend if my shipment comes. Just got an email with tracking, but no details in it yet. I'll check it later and hopefully an estimated arrival date will be there.

I was thinking of doing that color actually, but then I think the silverish color of the 3.2 VTEC part of the main engine cover would clash with the gunmetal color of the rest of the colors.

Sorry, but I'm holding onto the other lugs and I will be using them with my new winter setup, which I still have yet to purchase.

Here is a sneak peak of everything dipped back to black for a base coat before my new color arrives.

Well this isn't exactly the progress I wanted to be making, but I went to Advanced Autoparts to pick something up tonight and when I started my car it was idling rough as hell. I tried restarting it and still a rough idle. It felt very sluggish and sputtering a great deal when accelerating, but would drive normally as speed increased. After talking with some members, we are guessing that there is some sort of problem with the fuel system. Or maybe it's just a bad tank of gas. No CEL's were thrown either. I immediately and reluctantly drove the car to Acura to drop it off for the night so they can work on it tomorrow. I hope all goes well.

On a positive note, the tracking was updated for the plasti dip I ordered and it should be here Friday, so the covers will be done by this weekend.

Here is a video of the sound it was making:

And here is the loaner they gave me in the meantime.

Thanks John. I'm actually in the process of redoing the engine covers a different color now. I liked the white, but it was just too bright in comparison to the paint and I didn't feel that it looked right. I should some pics up this weekend.

Lol, funny we call my buddy John the Honey Badger. Acura called and said it is the EGR valve. So I'm just going to do what Aaron and Glenn suggested and take it off an clean it and see how it goes from there. I'm still going to buy fuel injector cleaner and dry gas just to be on the safe side as well.
