I just tried BKF last Friday...best exhaust tip polishing method EVER. My ATLP tips look almost brand new again (after being through Colorado seasonal changes for almost 2 yrs) and that was after only working on each tip for about 5-10 mins. For $1.75 and some effort, you can't go wrong! I'm gonna polish up the tips again & hit the mufflers too when I have some more time.

I wonder if that powdered Comet cleaner will work the same? I'm gonna pick up a can of BKF from Home Depot tomorrow. Nice Post!

LOL I'm pretty sure the inside of the factory exhaust tips are painted black from factory on purpose. At least that's how they are on all 04-08 base model TLs.

Painting the inside of the exhaust tip gives it a illusion that makes it look bigger.

You were probably removing that painted surface thinking it was exhaust soot lol

So should the inside of the type s be black as well? Should that be left untouched?

Yes, leave the inside untouched, unless you like the full polished look.
