I just tried BKF last Friday...best exhaust tip polishing method EVER. My ATLP tips look almost brand new again (after being through Colorado seasonal changes for almost 2 yrs) and that was after only working on each tip for about 5-10 mins. For $1.75 and some effort, you can't go wrong! I'm gonna polish up the tips again & hit the mufflers too when I have some more time.

Painting the inside of the exhaust tip gives it a illusion that makes it look bigger.
You were probably removing that painted surface thinking it was exhaust soot lol
