Introductory thread: 2004 A-Spec
Hey guysI am new to the world of Acura, I just bought a 2004 WDP A-SPEC with automatic trans with 110,000 miles. I paid $8,000 for it. I traded up from 1993 Nissan 300zx. I needed something a little more reliable and economical to get me to class and work every day.
I live in Wichita, KS. so with the recent weather I haven't been driving her as much as I would like but the roads are getting better and the weather is cleared up.
I just have a few basic questions.
1. The drive side seat heater isn't working while the passenger seems to work intermittently. I tried searching the forums for the issue but I only ruled out its not a fuse because the switches still light up. If any one could point me in the direction of some info on trouble shooting or how to fix this it would be much appreciated.
2. 105k Mile Maintenance- I plan on following a DIY I found on this website to replace the timing belt, timing belt auto-tensioiner, Idler pulley, Serpentine belt, water pump, coolant system flush and spark plugs. I think that about covers everything I saw a valve adjustment was recommended but some people didn't think it was 100% necessary any thoughts on that? Also any tips or tricks I need to know to do this?
3. I plan on fixing a couple dings and scratches on the car, I'm looking for the black gloss trim on the back driver side window also the trim on the middle console on both sides I found that online but it was incredibly expensive. Any body recommend me to a good parts website that isn't priced as high as a dealership?
4. I need a spare key made preferably one that will work to lock/unlock and start the car. Acura dealership told me around 225 dollars for the key and to have both keys reprogrammed. Any way around this or I am stuck paying $225 for a new key?
Time for some pictures. (sorry I will have better ones this week once I can get it cleaned up and all the snows gone)

1) driver's seat heaters....the heating element is probably broken.
3) OEM discounted parts...acktl05 (vendor here) or tim at peoria acura
4) key needs to be programmed...you can try and buy a blank key (heeltoe auto? or ebay) and then have the dealer program it only....however i dont' think you're going to get around it. the keys have chips in them.

Interesting I'll probably end up keeping it but I always seem to buy cars with weird stuff worth a decent amount of money. My 300zx came with the original titanium key that some Z collectors will pay $300 for.

I know I think they are ugly also, My college campus is notorious for door dings so they are staying on unfortunately.

Hey V, in the lower right hand corner of each post, the middle icon is a Multi-Quote button. It allows you to respond to more than one person in a single reply. Then it will look like this above.
Be sure to give it a try!
