I love getting Sucker Punched in the kidneys

Sitting at a redlight today with my son. My light goes green but I wait as 3 cars run the redlight making a left hand turn. After the 3rd car the coast looked clear so I went. Out of nowhere a green 92 Camaro makes a left and plows me in the drivers side. As he hit me he started to push me around into opposing traffic. Thankfully I corrected and was able to stop before taking anyone else out. 3 witnesses stopped to help and tell the police what happened. The driver of the Camaro was a 16 year kid who thankfully had insurance. He was cited for running a red light and causing an accident. Now were waiting on the adjuster and Im stuck driving a damn Civic. What a crappy rental. Here's the pics. I'll post more later.

aw...poop on that stupid a** 16 years old
you know what you could've done though? left the car at your local dealership, and had them handle the accident ie contact your adjuster, etc. that way, you have the reliability of acura on your side + one of their loaners cars make sure they take the car to a quality body shop though...

best of luck! is your son alright????

You may not want to hear it now, but you're good and your son is too. Insurance will fix it.

Ya those stupid 16 yo. with their driving!

But I feel bad for ya man. Thankfully, I have yet to be in an accident, and I would consider myself a responsible driver.

I'm going to make sure I pursue compensation for depreciation of value since my car had never had an accident before and had a near perfect body

I tried that and got nowhere after my '06 was rear-ended. The line I kept getting was that Arizona doesn't have a diminution in value statute or a legal precedent. Not trying to discourage you; just giving you heads-up. I hope you have more luck than I did.

Here in NJ you don't get your license until your 17 years old and its provisional (can't drive past 12, no more than one other person in the car, etc.) for I believe till your 19 if not 18 and now they have to have a sticker on their license plate so cops can spot them.

Thanks everyone.

USAA is paying me directly for the damage and then billing the other drivers insurance for reimbursement. I think what I may have the Body Shop do is buy 2 doors from another wrecked car to prevent the use of body filler or to limit it as much as possible and to possibly save me some money. And it should save me future head aches from the doors not fitting right or body filler cracking(AZ roads are not the greatest). I'm guessing the damage is in the 5-6k range. Ill find out tomorrow though

Also insurance it paying for a new car seat. Thinking about getting one of the Corbeau ones

Just some advice:
The Civic is torqueless in the city. I had one as a rental when my car was at the body shop. But it makes getting your car back that much more pleasant, and you'll feel very good.

That being said, make sure you get a chance to inspect your car very thoroughly before you drive it off. And try to do it before giving back the rental. I returned my rental then walked to the body shop (down the block), only to find out the job wasn't to my satisfaction, and that it would need another few nights in the shop. The manager was very nice about it, but I was still left without a car for longer than I expected.

Check the background of each body shop. BBB, yelp, etc. It'll be worth it, and you'll have more confidence in your repair.

Other than that, best of luck

Definately plan one doing that. The insurance company is paying me directly so I will be paying the body shop. That way I don't have to pay them until the work is to my satisfaction. I went over there today to get some stuff out of the car and they went ahead and marked all of the damage with a yellow marker so that the appraiser can see everything. They said the whole drivers side will need to be painted. They found some damage on the rear quarter panel that I didn't see and on the front fender as well.

Got my repair estimate today. 5700 dollars! Gonna take 12 days from the time parts are received to repair her. The shop is gonna tear her down tomorrow. Parts are gonna take 3-4 business days to get it looks like.

On the plus side i was able to trade my rental civic in on a Mazda 3 today. Much better car to drive than the civic and the AC works alot better... Its 110 today
