Nevermind.....I got to your images myself. I've also got them hosted on my space for the time being so you can show them off.

Looks good, congrats!

If I do get new wheels, then they'd HAVE to be ligther than stock.

I'm not sure I would agree with you. The majority of the aftermarket wheels I've researched are HEAVIER than the OEM's (of course, unless you're looking at a nice forged wheel or the like). The stock 17's are 24lbs each, which is not 'that' heavy of a wheel. I think saying anything aftermarket would HAVE to be lighter is far from true (unless I'm mis-understanding you).

My apologies, I completely mis-understood your post. I didn't see the "I" in your post. And I agree, I won't be putting a HEAVIER wheel on either, just not worth it.

I wonder how many TL owners here are willing to compromise speed for looks and handling?

Not me. Honestly, I don't understand how anyone can spend $2,000 AND lose acceleration, handling and braking. If I spend that much money, it better be about more than looks, which is why I'm trying to compile a list of aftermarket wheels that are lighter than stock. I'm leaning toward the above-mentioned Volk Racing GT-7, which would save me about 6 lbs. a corner.

Well, what if you find 19's that weigh as much as the 17 and then also get a tires that weighs less or as much of the originals. What would the difference be then on slowing the vehicle?

Looks pretty good... Is your car dropped? If not it looks perfect, I wouldn't mess with suspension.

Can you comment on how the tires ride?

If you could find a set of 19" wheels that weigh the same as the stock set, it wouldn't negatively affect performance. I haven't seen any 19" wheels that are that light but I haven't really looked.

The 19's look sweet, I think 20's on the AT might not fit! Any thoughts?

Keep up the sweet mods, Your one of the only guys making me think twice about selling my 04TL.

I've heard thier will be a grill kit out in a few months.

How about some big horse power mods?

Amazing! Do the rims clear the brakes without a problem? The clear headlights look even more awesome!

btw, the pics need just a tad more lighting

Tlover, I will find out tomorrow how much the ones I ordered weigh and will post, the guy told me around 27lbs and if I put proxes 4 on them they should weigh exactly like the 17. I would also have liked to find a lighter wheel but couldn't find one that would fit the brembos. But as long as I keep it the same weight that wouldn't be bad.

Talking Answers to questions

OK

(1) Didnt weight the wheels. But they are slightly heavier than stock, can tell you that. I lifted a stock wheel with a mounted tire and the Axis rim with the new tire, and the difference couldnt be more than 5 lbs.

(2) The car actually feels FASTER now believe it or not. These Nitto tires grip so much damn better, no more HOPPING with the VSA off like the crappy Bridgestones did.

(3) Of course the ride is going to be compromised swith 19" 35 series tires vs 17" 45 series. However, the ride is much better than I anticipated. I can "feel" more of the road in the steering wheel, but it is still smooth. slight high speed vibration above 75mph...but really not any worse than the crappy Bridgestones.

(4) I have not done any suspension mods. I have the Eibach pro-kit on order. should be installed on Friday after I get the fenders rolled (i am getting a slight bit of rubbing on big bumps due to the 1" custom spacers all around.)

(5) The rims with the 1" custom spacers clear the front brembos just fine, and actually I have about 1/4 to 1/2" clearance between the rim and caliper.

(6) IMHO the front plate really takes away from the new TL. Glad Nevada cops aren't anal about it, but I understand many of you need to put them on as you dont want to be cop bait.

(7) THere's a guy who did 20" on an 04TL that has a cardomain site. TOO BIG IMHO, esp chrome there will be a major performance loss, not to mention stress on the tranny and other components. Speedo will be off bigtime. This guy said he had to have his 20s custom made, and that sounds like $$$ to me.

(8) As far as BIG hp mods, there arent any right now. I did the Injen CAI, and thats all thats avail right now. I am hoping someone does an exhaust that has tips that look like the A-SPEC concept TL...those are friggin SCHWEET!

(9) Yeah, MR did the headlights for me. He did a phenominal job, did everything he said, and they look so damn sweet. Been washed twice and NO LEAKS or condensation thus far (still knocking on wood). Highly recommend him mr_@yahoo.com

(10) I personally cant see spending money to replace stock 17's with aftermarket 17s. If you are very concerned with performance loss, then go with a lightweight 18. Just MHO.

Thanks for the nice comments guys! Just wait til you see it with the 1" drop. I cant believe noone noticed my smoked side marker was missing on the driver side. More on that in another post LOL! My car is filthy as hell as are the rims and tires. Once i get it lowered, side marker replaced, detailed..i will post some good pics.

Hey Vegas_TL04, your car looks great and the rims are sweet, they look so much better on the car, it is always hard to tell what they will look like until they are on. I will post my pics when I get mine installed if they fit. I agree with you on (10).

thanks PROZZI. I saw these rims 2 years ago when I was getting my MVRs installed on my 323cic convertible at D2Technik in Alhambra, CA. I saw them on a TT and I almost changed my mind and got them. Well, now that I have the TL, I new they would be a perfect match. Even the old farts at my work who arent into modded cars shit when they saw them. They said, I really like the hypersilver finish and the rims really "go with" the car. "make it looks real sporty"

where r u located? If in vegas or nearby, my boy at Discount will hook u up. let me know...

My 19x8.5 HRE 547's weigh between 24 and 25 pounds each and the tires (235/35/19) definately weigh less...so I guess I haven't compromised.

WOW!! Those wheels look FANTASTIC!! Are you concerned about the rubbing? Also if you can forgive my naiveity, can you explain what fender rolling is, and how it will correct the rubbing?

Light 18" Wheels

Put 18 X 8 BBS RE wheels on mine. They are forged so they can be lighter and stronger. Weight is 20.3 pounds. Didn't want to go any larger diameter.

I'm a novice, why the spacers? Aren't you concerned about the impact on the suspension? I've thought wheel offset is critical to maintain.

Great looking ride.
