GP16's *Show Off Thread* Mystical Photoshoot! [Updated 7/24/17]

guitarplayer16's Showoff Thread

Bought my 04 SSM TL Auto with Navi in April 2010.

It came with the rare 18"x8.5" gun-metal A-Spec rims.

First mod was really "cleaning" up the car, such as restoring the headlights, replacing misc parts, etc.

August 2010
I purchased the A-Spec lip kit for it.

More pics:
http://photos.acura-tsx.com/forums/s...d.php?t=789645

November 2010
I put the stockies on with new winter tires (Blizzak LM-60)

February 2011
I bought white LEDs for the license plate, doors, and dome lights.

April 2011
Put back on the A-Spec rims.

April 2011
I ordered a whole bunch of parts to retrofit Accord fogs with Type-S grills.

The process was very tedious, and required a lot of testing and fitting and trimming.

The results:

Before:

After:

August 2011
Blacked out headlights with Type-S diffusers

October 2011
120 SMT LED Turn Signal Bulbs

Old vs new:

Both:

Picked this up also:
Type-S A-Spec Suspension

November 2011:
Installed A-Spec Suspension

Then put on the winters:

January 2012
Upgraded the license plate LEDs to Cold Cathodes and installed trunk LEDs with Cold cathodes.

February 2012
White Footwell LEDs

(they look blue in this pic)

Random:

March 2012:
Put the A-Specs back on

Got the car tinted 35% all the way around with F1

April 2012
Replaced the VLEDs I did earlier in February 2011 with ebay 5050 led boards

Installed iSIM73

Installed Shock Sensor

That's it for now!

Cheers.

wow very cleanly modded and your taking your time with everything to make sure it comes out clean. I like

Can you tell me, link, or PM me where you bought the 3m 1080 CF vinyl? I'm thinking about vinyling my interior sometime down the road, and was just wondering where you got it from so I can get a idea of how much i'm going to have to spend

Thanks vietxquangstah!

I bought it on eBay from metrorestyling.
They also have a website you can order from.

It's 1'x5' for like $25.

Everything came to like $36 for me because of shipping.

VERY cheap.
I quoted someone local and they wanted $10/square feet.
That means $50+...

And that's for normal Di-Noc too! Not 1080!

Hey thanks cjTL!

Your car's been a HUGE inspiration for mine.
You still have to post your update thread!!!

I'm loving the A-Spec suspension. I love the height. Not too high and not too low.
Again, my old shocks were bad/blown so any replacement was better heheh

I need to go out tommorow and get more quotes on how much to paint the sharkfin antenna!

I'm sure your ride looks cleaner than mine (condition wise!).
Paint chips, rust, paint mismatch, etc. sucks.

I got them from yourkeylessremote on eBay for like $54.
That was an amazing deal, but now another seller has an even better deal (OEM too) for like $40.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...#ht_500wt_1180

Such an amazing deal I want to buy like 5 of them just to do local TLs and have a backup set.

thanks broski!

I worked on the grill today!

First time ever using vinyl.

The bad:
I cut into my bumper twice (the gray part of the grill, attached to the bumper) when cutting the vinyl but they are small lines that can't be seen from far.

There's three splices but I don't care because you can't tell (only had to splice to do the bottom of the "A".

The one that will bug me the most: When trimming the vinyl around the grill, the vinyl wasn't held down so I cut and it went short.

I had to stretch the vinyl to cover the "shortage". You can see the warped pattern up close. Impossible to see from far.

If I were to do it again, I'd take my bumper off and disassemble the grill. THat way I could wrap everything and trim everything without messing up.

Do you guys think I should re-do the grill?
Or just drive around with this first attempt for a while before re-doing the grill?

Lemme know!

GP- that looks great! Don't redo it for now. It's difficult to get perfect, especially on the grille. I'd leave it as is. The question is- are you happy with it?

After taking these pictures, I'm happy with it!

It's far from looking like your Di-Noc grill, though =(
Hats off to you for doing so well on it!

Nice! How long did it take you to vinyl that center piece on the car? I completely removed my bumper and disassembled the grill trim pieces and it still took me a good 2 hours to just do the center "A" bar alone!

Top, middle, and bottom trim pieces all together were about 4 hours! Even though I spent so much time on it, the center bar still looks crappy!

I think it took an hour.

I lost track of time.

My fingers were about to fall off. My garage is so damn cold.

It came out nice man, good work as usual. I was going back and forth between vinyl or plastidip, just settled on plastidip for the grill and vinyl for the roof + spoiler

Not considered a "mod" but I love it.

In my eyes, the button side could use some contrast (like the paint underneath).

Or maybe just paint the buttons brushed aluminum.

The texture is awesome and 3M 1080 carbon fiber which is glossy reflects light soo much better than normal Di-Noc so need for clearcoat to get a nice sheen effect (As you can see in my pictures).

Oh, as you can see this keyfob is very worn. It's from an 04 LOL
The "A" emblem on the back is chipped on the bottom and buttons are pretty worn. You can't even see the lock/unlock icons.
Thought about getting a sticker for the icons...

It was indeed a pain.
Probably took me 1-2 hours!

This is my second time wrapping something.
It's VERY wrinkley at the top and bottom so I cut a small piece of vinyl and just wrapped it around the seem to make it look better.

Yeah underneath the vinyl my keyfob looked BAD.
Paint fading, button icons faded (still are LOL).

I want tiny stickers made for the icons to stick on the buttons.

I bought mine from metrorestyling on eBay.
Best pricing I've seen and FAST shipping even to Canada.

I like the tube they put the vinyl in too LOL
