Finally settled on some new wheels!

HRE 543Rs
Brushed Spokes with Clearcoat / Gloss Black Lips

I opted to get wheels with gloss black lips to go with my theme of Anthracite/Black.

Specs:
19x9 +35 in the front (235/35/19 Toyo T1Rs)
19x10 +35 in the rear (255/35/19 Toyo T1Rs)

Overall I am pretty happy with them. The rear fitment is almost exactly where I want it to be. My rear fenders are half rolled right now. I need to fully roll them so I can add some positive camber. Also I want to switch to 245/35s in the rear so I can a lil more pos camber and not rub. I think once I do that they will be perfect. The fronts need some work, my fenders are flared for my old Volks. I need to replace these fenders with some new ones and see how it looks and then I will go from there. Perhaps I will add a 5mm spacer to the front. We shall see.

Anyways on to the pics.

Installation at ATLP Mike's pad, big thanks to Mike for helping me get these on last minute. The night before Acurafest.

Got to Mikes house, oh thats where I left the wheels. Mike was taking good care of em for me.


Fronts are on! Thank goodness, plenty of clearance for the Brembos. That was one of my main concerns.




Time for the rears.


By the time camber was fully adjusted it was dark. So pics would have to wait until Acurafest.

As you can see front fenders are flared too much for these wheels. Once I go back to stock fenders it should look better.

Finally made it to the show!


I ended up taking Best Wheel Fitment. Which was totally unexpected and made a few people jealous I think lol. My fitment still needs a lot of work in my eyes but I accepted the award none the less. Luckily some of my more deserving friends did not key my car.

he wants me to get spacers, which I might get in the future. At least for the front. I need to see once I swap fenders how much more I need, maybe 5mm

Wow, thats really nice. IMO they'd look better if the lips were polished or brushed. Non the less this is something different and GJ thinking out side of the box.

Thanks Ted, yeah Aspec suspension is gone, Aspec rims are gone. All thats left is the body kit and my steering wheel lol

Those wheels look sick man. I wouldn't have guessed the black lip would look that good (one would think they would just blend with the tires and make the wheels look smaller and tires look beefier), but I really like it. Good call!

 

Thanks man, yeah I took a chance on the black lip and I really like how it turned out. I got a lot of compliments and a lot of people checking them out at Acurafest. I think the pictures don't do them justice, they look amazing in person.

Exactly what godizus said, i agree with... not really feeling the black lip.. blends in too much with the tire and makes the spokes look tiny... get 5mm spacers too, 19x10 +30 is flush for the TL.

Just being honest, some people just compliment for the sake of a positive comment for the thread...

But other than that, your ride is on point......

Hey Brian I appreciate the honesty. I still got some work to do like I said in the beginning and I know you understand how hard it is to get everything (wheel size/tire size/stance) exactly how you want it. Add to that my fender issues...haha anyways yeah hopefully I can get it all worked out so that in the end the fitment is perfect how I want it.

i didnt read any of the previous comments so sorry if i restate someone elses oppinion.

These are pretty baller rims i like em, but im 50/50 on the lips. While it matches the theme of the vehicle and flows pretty well, it keeps tricking my eye into thinking these have 0 lip with massively oversized tires but in any case, i think you succesfully pulled off a unique look

Thanks for the on the rims. And yeah the lips can be deceiving they need a double take. I would catch a lot of people at acurafest glance at my car and then walk back for a closer look hehe. I think in person they look sick so I am happy with them

haha damn they look dirty in that pic. I tried to clean em when I got there but I was going to pass out in the 107 degree heat after like 2 mins of cleaning lol so I dont think I did a good job

 

Not really feeling it, doesn't look horrible, but doesn't look great especcially the front lips (or lack of), just my honest opinion.

 

Appreciate your honesty. I wish the front lips were bigger also, but I was worried about clearing the Brembos first and foremost. Now that they are on I can easily see I have quite a bit of clearance that I wish could be added on to the lip.

 

That's a hell of a setup AA. The new wheels look good with the rotors too.

Badass look man. Your AM is clean as fawk. Those wheels are baller as hell too...must've been some $$$. I'm still on the fence for which wheels to get myself. You might have just made it a little more difficult...haha! The black lip definitely is different, looks good. AM colormatched would be SIIICK!!
