i checked the carfax and it came clean but i found this in the glove compartment after i purchased it

Well let me be the first to say congratulations, glad you finally caught it. Based on the tiny bit of the RO you photographed, it looks like there was a malfunction in one of the crash sensors used to deploy the airbags, which was replaced under warranty. This is not necessarily indicative of an accident - probably just normal warranty work.

parts were 400 and labor was 500. and it came out to 1000 dollars. the warranty covered that?

Would be easier to tell if you showed the whole RO. Looks like the car was purchased in April 08 and repairs done in Sept 08, so almost certainly still under warranty. I seem to remember most of the warranty work on the MB showing $0 for labor, but don't recall.

Looking a little more closely, I see the words "rodent damage". So most likely a mouse or squirrel chewed through a harness necessitating the repair, so probably not done under warranty, and not the result of a car accident...

Judging by the Merc., you're in Tx? If so, what part?

Congrats on the car, though.

Again "Rodent damage" and it clearly states there that a wiring harness for the impact sensors was replaced at the engine bay. Not a big thing since it was already taken care of. It's just a bit hilarious when you think about it that the rodent had nothing to chew on that it had to go through the trouble of chewing a wire harness in a car engine bay. Unless whom ever was working in the car dropped a peanut butter sanwich and did not clean it up well heheehe. Nonetheless, congrats on your new whip!

I wanted a WDP/Black when I was looking at TLs a couple months ago...but decided to go with my CGP/Black...your pics are making me wish I went WDP!

Is it just me or does your car look slightly lowered?

Congrats on the purchase. Just a little FYI don't put all your faith into Carfax and anything Certified. It's nothing more than a false sense of security. Being Certified means the car doesn't need anything right this second. If your involved in an accident and don't report it, then carfax doesn't show anything..

Look at the Repair order and read word for word. The harness was damaged due to a rodent. This happens to a lot of people that drive all sorts of cars. Rodents like where it's warm in the winter, so an engine bay is what they like. Since coolant has a sweet smell they get drawn in even more. The silicone insulation on the wires are what they like for whatever unknown reason right now. They tent to break the wire completely, and chances are this was done in MORE THAN ONE LOCATION.

Replacing the harness is the best thing to do other than repairing the harness. The repair happend around 4,000 miles. Fairly early in it's life, the owner obviously drive like this to his/her nearlest dealership. Under diagnosing, the job was done under warranty. Since 4,000 miles the vehicle has gone to 28,000 without any further issuses. If electronic component would fail it would be instant.

As far as your other threads, you seem very nervous. It's only a vehicle, for anything 2008 I highly doubt speakers and everything else you mentioned would be an issuse. I would suggest you get extended warranty, only if you see yourself keeping this vehicle for a while. Best of luck, if you decide to modify your car do some research.

It's hard to find a clean WDP where all the body panels match. I was looking at an 08 last year that wasn't even titled with only about 100 miles on the showroom floor and noticed the quick differences in the body panels. Looks like you found a diamond in the rough!~ Congrats again!~~
