DynamicJ32's Timeline/Progress/Ramblings Thread

Hello AZine!

My name is Mike,

I am not new to the forum but wanted to hold out on a progress thread until I felt my car is worthy enough to post.

My first car prior to the TL was a 1998 Volvo S70 which my dad had since new and had 308,000KM before we finally sold it.
To this day I still miss it.

July 2009
New owner of a 2006 WDP 6MT A-Spec Acura TL!

October 2009
!OEM Type-S tail lights my brother purchased for my birthday. Couldn't have been happier.

May 2010
First set of rims!
!19x8 Axis Decade wheels

April 2011
!Complete LED conversion
!Picked up a set of stockies for $280!
They had a lot of curb rash but I was not concerned because I had planned to paint them gunmetal anyways.
After a lot of hours sanding the rims down I used duplicolor rim paint.
2-3 coats of primer
2-3 coats of paint
!Purchased a set of Toyo Extensa tires (235/45/17)
Great economy tire, could have handled a bit better in rain and it was a bit hard of a compound

August 2011
!Window Tint - 20% Rear, 35% front
!Tein SS coilovers purchased off a local member and installed.

Summer 2012
Speedstar Pre-meet and Cruise
!Finally got the OEM Type-S rear corner markers

Some minor changes fall of 2012

!Black Inner Grille
!Black Roof
!Yellow DRLs

April 2013 - The Good Stuff
I spent the whole day yesterday lowering the car about another 3/4 - 1 inch all around.
!19x8.5F, 19x10R Linea Corse Dyna wheels
!Falken fk452 225/35/19F 245/35/19R

Well I hope you all enjoy my thread, hopefully I can update it as often as possible.

MAN! I'd love to see this thing in person one day! I'm up in the GTA a couple times a year.

ALL you need now is to mod your headlights and that'll be perfect!

I love the Linea Corse Dyna wheels! If I went with 19's again instead of 18's, these wheels were right at the top of my list. Great work so far, keep it up! WDP FTW!

I luv those wheels!!! Very nice set up. Do u have to run any negative camber in the rear to prevent rubbing issues?

Thank you, and yes there is some camber in the back. I do not have a camber kit, it is just the natural camber that increases the lower I go.
For all of those curious, yes I do rub.
It is not as bad as I thought it would be, only on steep parking lot/ driveway entrances and over big dips in the road. No rubbing under normal driving conditions.

Awesome job! Car looks excellent. What offset are those wheel's? It looks like you might be about -2 camber in back or so?

I have a 5mm spacer up front to clear the Brembos, so front is +25

Rear camber is natural, don't have a camber kit. I'd guess it is somewhere between -2 and -3.

I'd say the camber in the rear is no more than -2.5, I have a 19x10 et15 dropped 2"and my natural camber was at -2.1 and -2.4 when I went in for alignment

! Clay bar and full detail

So last week I finally set some time aside to clay bar and wax my car.

I usually do this once a year, but it has been two years since the last time I have done it.

For those of you who are unaware of the process, it is basically a kit (be Meguiars, Mothers, etc.) containing a bar of clay, some spray detailer and a few other items. While working on the car one small area at a time, the spray wax is applied and the clay is gently rubbed back and fourth until all contaminants are removed from the paint (tar, surface rust deposits, etc.) that is most noticeable on light colored cars and leaves a finish that is smooth as glass.

On the Friday I began to wash and only complete half of my car before I decided to stop. By Saturday, the rest of the car was complete and on Sunday I did a final wash and wax.

Total time spent on the car was approximately 15 hours.

Before and after pictures of the car would not do justice of how much of a difference has been made, however, here is a before and after of how my rear bumper looked.

I am very happy with the results and recommend it to those who have the time. It is very easy to do and greatly enhances the paint of your car!

Supposed to rain the next couple days here, will take some shots when the weather is better.

My brother had just come home, while getting on the car he watched as neighbor's friend backed into my car that was parked on the road.

It was a highschool girl who probably just got her license. We exchanged information but I probably won't be doing anything about it. When I got to my body shop he just pressed against the bumper and it re-clipped without any issue. Not a big deal since I had to go see him and order a windshield anyways.

Of course it could have been worse, but I'm more bothered at the fact that my bumper was re-painted not even 9 months ago and has been reversed into for the second time now (first in a parking lot and now this). So that's two small but noticeable (for me) paint chips/scuffs on a practically new paint job.
Can't win.

Drive safe all.

^ Exactly the reason why I'm so hesitant about clearing my headlights.

Knowing my luck someone would back into them the day after..

Dropped the car off today to have this dealt with..

On the bright side I'm excited to finally have a crystal clear windshield again.
