Alright, well if anyone has been following the evolution of the XXR-527 bandwagon, you've probably run across one of my many, many research threads before I slapped these on. Now, I selected the CONTINENTAL DWS 225/40-18 for it's stellar reviews and many, many successful miles logged on various sites.

Well, during a routine alignment check I had the heartbreaking news delivered to me that there's 0 chance that in spite of being well in alignment for almost the full life of the tires, they will not even hit 20k.

AFTER 15k MILES, I'M AT 2/32 ON THE INNERS, IN SPITE OF ALIGNMENT BEING WITHIN SPEC AND 3 ROTATIONS.

While I'm still nailing down the root cause, during the 4th rotation weekend, I could not help but notice that these f*cking tires are not centered one iota to the wheel.

I'd love to hear from other members on this...how are your tires holding up? CHIME IN!!!

IMAGE 1 - NON-CENTERED TIRE
Take a gander. CLEARLY you can see this tire is not centered about the wheel from left to right.

IMAGE 2 - OUTSIDE, PASSENGER FRONT
Still sporting a beefy 9/32 at 15k

I basically have the same with mine but I do run negative camber. I was surprised at how minimal the wear is on mine

^idk, about 8-10k maybe. -1.8 camber up front and -3 in the rear. Looking at those pics, yours look a bit worse than mine

I'm running Eagle GTs but I've only had them on for about 1.5 months. No excessive wear that I can see yet. Stock camber on mine.
Thanks for posting the issue. Have you spoken with anyone at Next Level or Continental yet?

Hey, Dave. Talked to conti, they are willing to give me 25% off a set, they claim it's my setup. I am really wondering if this all boils down to tire size at this point in time.

Ugh, this is seriously destroying my enjoyment of this setup. I've half a mind to dump the whole effing setup right now.

You guys think jacking the suspension up will do it?

20K out of some tires would be splendid! My last set...12K miles (Falken452's). And I had camber kits and alignments. I guess it's just the way things go...I too, would get alignments every few months...but was running some cheap ebay camber kits with sh*tty bushings...

Ridiculous...

Fiancee's 17" oem tires...AFTER car was lowered with springs and never aligned...51K miles on her oem michelins.
ME...ever since I've gone with low profile 17's...18 or 19's...BEST was 27K once...worse was 12K and everything in between.

Are you doing this out of frustration or because you have figured out something is wrong with the wheels/tires?

DING!

Yes. Look, this setup looks f*cking awesome, and everything about it is awesome, but the roads I'm required to travel for work (industrial roads absolutely DESTROYED by 18-wheelers hauling municipal waste), coupled with this goddamn tire wear that I did not expect, has me pushed to the limit. These days, I'm more focused on my son, and I need something that's going to last longer than 20k miles. I just don't have the time anymore to nail this down, it's just easier to reboot and leave it at that.

I know other may disagree, but I've put A LOT of time in to my car, time that I just don't have anymore.

^you will make someone a very happy person with your wheels. Sad you have to part ways with them tho..

ps: what were ur specific camber #s? It would be good info for others to avoid this issue

It's odd to see it in print, but in a very, VERY literal way it is heartbreaking to have to do this.

When I have a chance, I'll put the alignment results in to this thread. Good call.

How long is too long to wait on these wheels? I ordered my setup through NL Motoring on 3/15, and I checked my order status today and it said shipping sometime in May, WTF?!? I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks, but 2 months seems ridiculous to me.

Should I cancel my order and find somewhere else to buy these, or just wait it out? Where did everyone else purchase their wheels?

Also DM, sorry to hear about your situation. Sucks because your car looked absolutely SICK with those on. If I were you just throw your stockies or some Type S wheels on and call it a day. With a kid now you cant be worried about your tire busting on you with him in the car. Good luck bro.

Why don't you cancel your order and buy Dan's?!?!
Dan...I'm assuming you held on to your stock wheels, right?!!?

Yeah, I saw those also, still wanting the flat black wheels tho. I was on the fence about which ones I wanted, but I want to do the black/white theme on my car.

oh gay, white black theme is beaten to death. Black wheels get lost and you can't even tell what wheels you have. Get one of the ones for sale, and paint them white.

Well I have a white car (sorry that's gay I guess) and I already have gunmetal wheels that kind of look like the chromium ones, wanted to switch it up a bit. White wheels are ricer IMO and a bitch to keep clean with all the brake dust.

I may cancel my order and look for other rims that I like but I dont want to break the bank, and I'm super picky about wheels.

I was joking about white wheels, I thought that was obvious. Not joking about the black ones.

With my setup, XXR527 18x8.75 +35 235&245/40/18, I am roughly lowered 1.4" (F) and 1.3" (R). With this drop I still had some additional room when I switched to a 245 tire. I've posted some pics on BM and I have an album with some addtional pics too.

I miss how easy they are to keep clean, but it was time for a change and change is sometimes not an easy thing.

TLDude, what new color options are you thinking about for your vsxx? Or is it on the DL.
