Jeremy, I've got a better idea.....instead of just having the National Meet in South Florida, let's just have it at your place!

FL is the best...
We eat people and you hear about it, in the rest of the country, it's so normal they don't even put it in the news!
And our State is shaped like a COQ and we have no front plates or emissions testing! lol

The Jets training camp is actually right across the street from my office. Gonna have to walk over there some time and make out with Tebow. Maybe I can get him to autograph my hood.

Here's a little update for yall. I've been wanting to paint my rear calipers black for quite some time since they had to be replaced about a year ago. I got busy with school and this is how the rear right ended up looking...
![](http://i817.photobucket.com/albums/zz100/CLtotheTL32/Build%20Thread/IMG_0555.jpg)
Fcking gross I know. I recently started to notice that dirt and rust would accumulate on the face of that rotor even after I had been driving around and on the brakes and such. Turns out that the caliper was seized AGAIN, just like the one it replaced, and it was stuck wide ope, not allowing the pad to contact the rotor.
So along with an oil change and new wipers, the whole caliper assembly was replaced with a brand new one and I had pads on the left and right put on. Both rear rotors were resurfaced as well.
It doesn't end there though
![Bored](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/bored.gif)
When the car was on the lift, the mechanic noticed that the front tires were showing metal cord. Even though the tread isn't worn down terribly, the inner most "line" of tread has metal pieces showing. It must be due to camber wear even though I'm at around -1.7 up front and -1.2 in the rear. Pretty annoying.
So let's recap:
-New caliper
-2 new rear brake pads
-both rear rotors resurfaced
-two new tires; mounting and balancing
-alignment
-oil change
-new wipers
= almost $1000.
At least the rear calipers are back to being a dark grey "normal" metal color. Still annoying though.

this is what i suggest ya....get the brake package from Brakemotive...
$155 for rotors and pads all around
$100 for new caliper from Advance auto parts....
$30 for new wipers from Advance auto parts
$35 for oil change (Mobil 1 EP with filter) from Advance auto parts
$160 for lifetime alignment from Firestone
So you are at $480...for all new brakes and wiper and everything....finally whatever tire you like, 2 of those + mounting balancing shudnt be more than 300
![Shrug](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif)
EDIT: reread your post....you know if you do all those maintenance yourself, you can save up some $$$ for ACTUAL mods

Anil I have actual mods
and I guess you forgot that I already have RacingBrake rotors ![Tomato](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tomato.gif)
I have the invoice in my hand and here's how it reads out:
-Oil Change with filter ($19.75)
-2 Tires with mounting and balancing, 2% NC Tire Disposal fee, two new valve stems ($430.56)
-Alignment ($79.95)
-Wipers ($35.53)
-New rear caliper, new pad, machine rear rotors and drums, clean/lube, etc ($369.61)
I paid a little extra to have the tire here in 1-2 days instead of 5-7 because even though I don't drive too often nowadays, I don't like relying on other people or being stuck somewhere.
My parents and I have been taking our cars to this shop for over 10 years so they gave me $115 off as well.
As for doing maintenance myself, even though I'm confident I COULD do it, I chose not to. Knowing my luck I'll mess something up and it'll cost me more in the long run. This shop does great work and I would rather pay a little more and not get my hands dirty then mess something up and pay even more to fix my mistakes.

Ty...
honestly, you can....all you need is some confidence and a ratchet...
the TL is my first car and i took baby steps towards it....do an oil change (simplest thing to do on the TL) or do a cabin or engine air filter change....these job will give you the confidence and then you can take on spark plugs and brakes and suspension....
now if you were to mention about timing belt or water pump, i would say, fuck that, take it to the dealer....the reason i say is, if you are off by a teeth, you are screwed....my point is how bad can you fuck up a seized caliper ???![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
either way, its good to have/know a shop in the neighborhood which wont rip you off....

Yeah I've been considering ordering the new cabin filter and doing it myself. I'll probably do it between fall and winter because there's no point of putting a brand new one in now if I constantly have my windows down ![Tomato](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tomato.gif)
J has told me that the calipers are a piece of cake. I'm just so lazy![rofl](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)
Edit: I did the suspension swap with two other members. It was a headache but we got it done! I felt pretty good about that. I did my headlights and taillights too but those both are pretty much cosmetic pieces, nothing that can twist the wrong way and mess the whole car up

^^^ hhaha yup they are honestly a piece of cake and the AT calipers are even simpler....
but if you are worried you might mess up something doing an oil change, i suggest you do an oil change before you reach for that caliper LOL

I wish you were local, Ty...I'm really jealous that ebelp, SB and ddw all were close enough to get together.
With a couple of drinks, some music and some shade, we could knock that out VERY easily. I even have that mityvac thing to bleed your entire brake system in 10 minutes...FK. I hate seeing a struggling college scholar have to spend that kinda loot on repair.![Frown](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Why didn't you do discounttiredirect.com...they ship fast as fk, you woulda had the tires asap and probably saved 200 bucks...plus, showing wire, just take the streets no highway and drive as little as possible. Not the safest, but in a pickle, you coulda made it work since you might have been driving like that for the last thousand miles anyway.
ACCURATEin "CAME" in the photo gallery...ewwwww

My shop said their tire supplier had the tires in stock so that's why I didn't order them online. They called back a few hours later and said they only had one in stock and the other would have to be ordered![Bored](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/bored.gif)
And the metal showing with the tires isn't bad at all. They said I would be fine to drive to school tomorrow and back on Wednesday. I only saw one section with metal.
