I gotta clay my car. How long does it take to clay and then wax again?

Also, nice tints, too bad that's illegal in IL to have the front windows that dark.

All I've done is just wax or polish mine, but never have clayed it.

My front widow tint is illegal in FL too, but oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do, right? lol. I took me about ~3hrs. to wash, clay, and wax, but well worth it thou.

Claying in't going to improve the end visual result as such .. what it does is removes contaminats from the paint making it smoother ... then the next step would be to polish out any swirling and oxidization before the wax/sealant layer.

I clayed my car in about an hour .. then polishing was a different story ... keep in mind I do this professionally.

I understand what people are saying about the fact that a person's license plate is seen by hundreds/thousands every day on the road. However, let's say you piss someone off online who happens to be a very resourceful data miner. This person manages to find where you live and keys your car without anyone noticing.

Like any precautionary measure, there will always be a scenario where it proves pointless. Having an ADT-monitored house alarm does not guarantee that a house will not be burglarized, yet ADT still has millions of customers.

I have never clayed my car myself because I am too lazy, but I did have a local detailing shop do it for me. It was definitely worth it; the paint was as smooth as glass after it was done!

EDIT: Coconut, what part of Florida are you from? That area looks familiar...

errr, you have full control over those pictures. Just edit them in paint and reupload to your host with the same name, it will replace the existing pic you see above.

Sorry buddy to borrow yours, but I haven't had the time to shrink my own picture. It was the closest picture of my car and hey "imitation" is the best form of a compliment you can receive!

How much did you pull off with the clay? My ASM is 14 months old, I haven't had to clay yet.

I've had the car for about 4 months now, and this is my second clay job. Not much contamanents(sp?) were pulled off, but it just makes me feel better about my car.

I can't recall the details, but I believe it is possible to clay your car too often, leading to damage to the clearcoat. I'd do some research on that if I were you...

Just keep a good coat of wax on it. I don't hard wax everytime. But I do spray wax everytime. The paint is slippery as shit.
