Changing it up...Painted Wheels.

So I decided to change up the stock wheel color. I love how 06tl4life had painted stockies. I hope you don't mind, but I used the same gunmetal color pattern.

I first used plastidip as a primer so I can peel it off if it didn't turn out right. I included a pic of me peeling it off due to an mistake. So if anyone has any questions on how easy it is to remove, you can see. I found some gunmetal color spray paint at Walmart. The exact color was metallic charcoal. I already had my center cap "A" painted red, so I just had to tape it off and paint the rest gunmetal. And a little glossy clear coat and I'm done. Let me know what you think.

I know everyone is going to say, "drop it". I'm just waiting on some extra cash to flow my way so I can purchase some coilovers. I'm thinking the HT-Spec function and form type 1's. My baby will be almost perfect once she gets a nice drop.

Wow, looks nicely done!

The best part I think is that you can just peel it off!

Thanks for the comments all. I'm really happy with how it turned out. I had an idea of how the color would work with my car, but it's even better than I thought!

I think one of my favorite things about your car is how the new wheel color and the front grille match. it has a very nice fluidic feeling for me.

I do have a ? for you though. have you ever thought of color-matching the "A" on the front to the car? IMO that would look drop dead sexy and would really tie into the rest of the car.

RRP is so gorgeous... especially with metallic or gun metal wheels.

Add a drop (sorry i had to haha) with a glossy black top and it'd be a done deal! Your car will be breaking necks in no time lol

The front grille is actually flat black. I'm thinking of painting it too. I never thought about painted the "A" on the front. I kinda like how the chrome pops, but now that you mention it, a color matched "A" might be pretty sweet. Thanks for the idea!

Thanks man! I've been envious of your look for a while now. Just finally decided that I should take a shot at it. I was tempted to try and trade for yours, but I don't live close enough...lol. I'm happy how it turned out. Just need a nice drop and I'll be really happy!

Very cool! Looks great.
Seems like a very good way to test out a look before committing to the cost of re-finishing.

It just looks like it. Parts are vinyl wrap. Parts are plastidip including the bottom of the A-Spec lip. I'm eventually going to take the vinyl off and plastidip the whole thing.

Wheels look great! Good idea using plasti-dip as a primer. I may just have to try this on my OEM wheels.

I wonder if plastidip would stick over putty.

I need to fix my curb rashes (from previous owner!) before painting them.

Where can I find BKF? I've heard the dollar store. Does Walmart have it? If so, what section? Thanks.

^^^ Dupli-color graphite wheel paint for the wheels and you can buy a bottle of red touch up paint for the center caps.
