Quick question:

Did the '06 have the Carbon Bronze Pearl (CBP) paint colour as an option or only the '07?

I am about to buy an 2006 TL w/ navi but I am not too fond of the colour. I am not sure what colour it is. Its not Metallic Desert Mist is it?

Same colors different lighting.

 

Desert mist is a light gold. Im pretty sure both pictures you posted are CBP...

 

i thought CBP only came in 07+? i could be wrong but i think that first pic is AM with altered lighting

 

Anthracite is the first pic. Second and third pic is carbon bronze pearl.

06 did not have the CBP.

Not sure but I think they are both the same color. Just different names.

i dont know about that. i think the AM is more grey, while the CBP has more of that bronzey goldish hue to it. very similar, but i dont think they are the same. but i have been wrong many times before. i just dont ever remember ever seeing that "glow" come off an anthracite TL before.

Carbon Gray Pearl Metallic Clearcoat NH-658P

which is a lot closer to the AM, but i think they are all different.

 

I'm not so sure I would call it Anthracite as it would have to be much darker.

It could also be the different lighting but it seems like the '07 pictures have more metallic flakes in the paint. I've searched on google for '06 paint options and no website has mentioned CBP as a colour option for that year... only '07+.

yeah its definitely the lighting.. you guys cant tell the diff from AM and CBP? its distinctive at least in person.. the CBP has more of a shine and bronze tone to it. AM is just gunmetal

There's no way it was repainted. Its probably a lease return.

 

well, according to the link i posted, the only years CBP wasnt offered was 04 and 05, but it was in 06+, and AM was not offered after 06. so if this site is right, it could be CBP.

either way, i am a fan of CBP

 

I like CBP as well. The first day I saw the car it was a bright sunny day and the colour was nice... probably not as nice as the ones we see here in the '07 models. I even bought the new taillights to go with it.... I know, even before I bought the car.

I'll go take a look at it again... but it seems like no one has a straight answer... not even the dealership!

I've got an 2006 Anthracite TL so

And CBP was only offered 2007 and up.

By the way the Type-S isn't offered in Anthracite so, that would mean the Type-S is CBP and the TL is Anthracite.

 

i think what you read is exactly opposite of what i wrote.

i did say that AM was offered in 06, just not after(so the car he is looking at could be that)

And i thought that CBP wasnt offered till 07 also, but that site i posted had it as a color in 06 (and thats what the car he is looking at looks closer to)

And you are right about the TL-S, but it also holds true for the TL in 07+ because AM was not offered, just Alabaster Silver Metallic

 

Ok well the only thing we're unsure of is whether or not the TL was offered in CBP in 2006, personally I don't think it was.

 

Yeah so if that's the case.... its not Anthracite and/or Carbon Bronze Pearl.

... if the colour is bothering me now maybe its not a good idea to buy it.

you know, i dont think i even know which color you didnt want, i was kinda confused what you were saying exactly from your first post. was it CBP that you disliked? or another?

 

Yeah what I meant to say was that I'm not too fond of the colour from picture no.1 and no.2

I do like Anthracite and Carbon Bronze Pearl but I don't think that TL falls in neither category.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong- Carbon Grey Pearl is the same as Anthracite and Carbon Bronze Pearl is a new color for 07 & 08??

 

Carbon Grey Pearl has a deeper tone than the Anthracite. I like it!

In the CBP category it seems like that's where my soon to be TL would fall into. I can't see any other explanation to it.

I have an '07 Carbon Gray Pearl and frequently park next to an Anthracite TL. The colors are not even close.

 

The 06 is definitely not CBP because that color was not made that year, unless, like someone said, the owner custom painted the car to CBP. As you can see, Anthracite is very gray. It is a hard color to match and it is sometimes where you will see darker Anthracites than others. The colors are not close really, the CBP is brownish.

The TL was definitely not offered in CBP in 2006. This color was released in 2007.

 

Perhaps someone has a CBP picture with an overcast sky.

Why not ask the seller to read you the paint code off the door jamb?

 

I have an 07 carbon bronze pearl. CBP was a new color introduced in 07 and they also had it for 08.

AM is definitely more gray. I have parked right next to one before and they are different colors. I can say that depending on the light CBP can look very similar to the AM. It seems to almost change colors. If it is a bright sunny day out, you can see more bronze color but if it is more overcast it looks more gray. That is one reason I liked it!

Also, the carbon gray pearl (only on 07 they changed to polish silver metallic for 08) is much darker compared to the AM and CBP. They are all different colors!

 

So I ended up picking this 2006 TL w/ Navi a few months ago and I'm damn glad I waited around for it.

It does come in a Carbon Bronze Pearl colour after all.

 

^^^not for nothing but those are the base light for 07-08 .. are you sure its 06. I belive CBP was a new color for 07-08. Desert mist was for prior years

 

ummm thats an 07 tl, unless the tails were changed. show ur front shots and we will let uy know

 

damn u know what it isnt an 07, u can tell by the tl badge in the back. 04-06 was straight TL 07-08 the TL is slanted..hmmm im confused now

 

This might help. Have own both colors, CPB 07 Type-S and 06 Anthracite. Had both a home until the 06 had to go for the type-S. Also now have a Porsche Cayman, keep the 07 company, think I have the best of both worlds.

in the newer pictures of the guys 2006 TL, it does look to be CBP. maybe it was a canada thing? that they had that color for TLs in canada only.

 

CBP and AM was both available in Canada for the 06 model year.
