Brembos Installed on 5AT (pic)
Just wanted to share that my Brembo conversion is finally complete. Here is a pic:
The curb rash was from the previous owner, not me
The entie setup was purchased used from the AZ black market for $500 and it included the calipers, crossdrilled rotors, knuckles, hubs, everything needed for the conversion. Unfortunately the calipers got some nicks in the paint during shipping, I might repaint them red at some point but they look decent enough for now.
I did the bedding process yesterday outlined here:
http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm
and it went smoothly. Luckily I did not get pulled over lol
Only things I had to buy in addition were some stainless steel brake lines, some Motul RBF 600 fluid, and I also purchased some new pads. I went with the Rotex kevlar golds. I read great reviews about them and I only paid $45 from buybrakes.com. Much better than $160 for the OEM dust pads.
Right off the bat I noticed a huge difference in stopping power, between the better caliper and the stainless lines, these things feel great!

Thanks Trew, no I don't have any pics during the conversion. I do however have a pic of the box the brakes came in:
And now you can see why some of the parts got damaged. I didn't mention it in the first post but one of the ball ends got damaged also and that cost me $120 to replace. Anyways the seller, whose name I will not mention, has been banned from the black market. Not just from my complaints about him, but others had problems as well.

What a packing douchebag!!!!! You should have met up with the seller and beat him over the head with the box of parts he sent you. Glad to see that you got it on the car and you are now a bbk club member.

The price....I got this setup for $500, + $80 for the SS lines + $45 for the pads. Pretty hard to beat that...comparable setups are like double or triple that price.

Sounds good. Maybe I should do the same thing, because at least this way it makes the car look fairly stock, while giving better braking power without killing my wallet.

Here is the full story I bought the brakes from him and it took him a full 2 weeks before he decided to ship them out. During those 2 weeks he posted more stuff for sale, including some Type S tails. I told him I would buy those as well...all seems fine. I get the tails before I even get the brakes and they are damaged. Corners are cracked due to crappy packaging, this was before I received the brakes so it should have been a sign of things to come. I sent him pictures of the taillights, I said I did not order damaged tail lights. I sent them back asking for a refund and I explained that since he shipped them UPS he could claim insurance for them and get his money back. I shipped them back the very same day. A couple days later I get the brakes and I send him a picture of how the box arrived and again he responds with profanity saying I quote "thats bullshit i didnt ship it like that". I explained that everything seemed to be intact with the brakes ( I didn't realize about the stripped part until later when installing) and that it was fine and if he could please just refund me for the tail lights. This is when he just stopped responding to emails all together. So he kept the taillights, kept my $150 and probably made another $150 from a UPS claim. So $150 plus $120 for the other part that was damaged all in all I lost about $270 to this guy. That and my calipers are the paint is not perfect, in the pictures he sent me they were in perfect shape however after they got bashed by rotors and stuff...yeah.

I tried extensively...
I prefer the Brembos and these calipers were supposed to be in great condition. Plus $500-600 is still less than $900. I was trying to save money, but yeah in hindsight maybe I should have gone with new, but then again I do like the fact that this is an OEM setup.

Paint the brakes the way I painted mine.....I did a DIY on it if you search using my name. They look so much better red and they really show the true size in that color.....You know fat women wear black dresses to look thin while skinny women wear red!!!
Paypal is a joke when it comes to claiming anything. I had the same problem with a sub I bought from a guy on E-bay and he didn't pack it at all with wrapping. It was damaged and paypal said I was out 200 bucks. Paypal sucks when it comes to claims. If you paid American Express, then you have coverage.

Very nice! I can't find a mod on your car I don't like...lol. Can't wait to get the TL-S tails I ordered and hopefully put them on this weekend! Also debating getting the A-Spec kit...did my taxes and am getting $784 back, and the group buy is $789...is it a sign?

And as far as the red versus black I completely agree, these do not stand out very much at all as they are right now and I think the red would bring them to life. I am debating getting a setup for the rear but I will probably just get some rotors that match the front and keep the stock calipers but paint them red.
Indeed how is your conversion going?

damn I read the parts you mentioned about the how he treated you...
I mean I wont lie... there have been instances where I've sold things on the blackmarket and I've been so busy at work to get to the usps...
but there is no excuse to pack shit poorly...
I remember being short of bubble wrap, and staples is a rip off.... so I grabbed some hospital blankets and tape and wrapped it in that... works like a charm... just asked kneedrager
