I'm doing the same conversion

I already had the 04 A-Spec kit but got in a small accident. So I upgraded to the Type-S front bumper, Type-S chrome grill, and Type-S front A-spec because I wanted more aggressive lip on the front

Moar pics of the drop though !

Isn't it possible to put a Chrome TL-S grill on a base TL bumper, right?

What I meant to say was that I thought all 07 and 08 grills were larger than my 05. So I guess you are saying the larger grill, which is also the chrome grill is limited to the Type-S.. correct?

My TL-S has a base nose with the TL-S chrome grill, so yes it DOES fit. This is a good thread for me because I am considering going with a-spec base lip or ditching my bumper completely and going back to stock Type-S.

decisions decisions...at the end of the day I do prefer the cleaner lines of the base a-spec lip, but i only wanna do this once lol

Too bad you are in the northeast. I'd buy it off ya if you were near Dallas. but thanks for the reply. I gave you a thanks. Because I may want to do upgrade to a 07 bumper with a chrome grill soon.. if I don't sell this thing.

wait.. yours is white.. wont work. haha I'd rather get a primered one

2 blocks from downtown Dallas.

Philanderer:

what does it look like straight on? Like from the front view? I'm interested in getting a better shot of the head lights.

sorry to bring up a kinda dead thread, but how much did it cost you to do the conversion? I have a 04 TL and want to mod the front bumper and grille to the Type S as well. Curious as to how much it ran you and what parts you needed. Thanks! Btw car looks great

Very cool. Who painted it? I saved these links too. If they don't like.thread resurrection then they can get other people. Not going to mention all the.money they make from.ads and other and still.can't fix the garage pictures or update the website.

i meant to say craigslist, not ebay.. Btw, I just thought of something. They always say "search is your friend" And some of the things that have been discussed, were discussed a few years ago.. Heck I've been here 4 yrs already.. But I also hear about this "no resurrection" policy.. Sounds like a double standard to me. Like access the previous posts but dont post ..Is this a mind game or something? You can't have it both ways. Either you want us to access the old posts and therefore post on the old one, or you want us to make a new post.. Don't tell me that's been done before if we cannot resurrect the old one.

You guys are severely tempting me. Those TLS bumpers look much more bold than an 05 base. Actually I already called a dealer on these parts last week. There is a local dealer in Dallas that has a wholesale webpage and I can pick up the parts, including the bumper without a shipping charge but I will have to pay tax if I do it locally.

Personally I think the 07-08 base bumper is simple and clean w/ the A-Spec lip. I like it better than the Type-S A-Spec bumper.

Here's another example of an 07-08 on a 05 TL:

The only thing I don't like about that base + aspec lip, is the fact that the sides of the front bumper flares out too much. A little is ok, like on the TL-s, but the aspec lip buldges on the sides and it looks odd. I want my car more streamlined and I dont want to replace side panels and such to make it all match. But I don't like it flaring out that much anyway, so why would I want to make it match even? Just my 2 cents, but the TL-S or more streamlined, simple, clean.. haha sorry.
