WRONG!!!

Type R's are an entry level sub that you can buy "OFF THE SHELF"... they do alright... but throwing more power to them wont help... They are more SPL oriented than SQ oriented... All the rightfully ported setups I have heard with Type R's have been louder and sounded better than all the sealed ones I have heard.... and trust me... I have heard A TON...

dude who even mentioned anything about putting those specific subs in a ported box??? I didnt. Entry level yea but for what they are if its tuned correctly they sound decent.... and trust me, Ive built a ton and heard a ton as well... and in order to find out if the sub belongs in a specidfic type of box youd want to know its ebp...its all left to physics and math in the end to designate its box........and trust me its very different when you start putting ports where u want and not where they belong or specificed by the manufacturer.... and take my word for it...the port would have to be huge for any speaker.....and thats y we use programs for box design and tuning...it makes life easier than seeing an equation thats 3 pages long and sitting there with ur thumb up ur ass going "shit i gotta do that before I make my port???"......if youve been to a massive club (anywhere in the world) "lets say"..... they have maybe 10-30 or more (regardless of size) very very very specifically placed subs to produced a specific note and the port is bigger than u think or have ever seen... ive worked on those too.
so now sound is pretty much judged in a few ways you have SQ lets say in the middle is loudspeaker where hmmmm 90% of people in a certain age group like to be because its the cool factor and SPL.....spl is just another level of stupidity with the dB's you can hit.... now if you're saying the type R's are focused more towards SPL you are wrong my friend.....they are focued more at the loudspeaker cool factor systems because of the young kids who have em and how easy it is to construct a box thats simply given to you in the instructions.

In the TL itself if you were to put in a serious system and wanted a ported box you would need to takeup about.....the whole trunk and im not talking about some lil box thats gonna give u port noise when it cant produce a certain note and all u get is a flappy noise and or distortion....and that likes to bake coils pretty often....thats why speakers in SPL contests have a short lifespan....but if u tune it right and are looking to stay within a certain range then you get more uses out of them.

and its fact sealed enclosures sound better because the subs can sustain longer throws of bass with less power...dynamic range is very important.. a ported box can only go so low and so high before it loses out on sound and power....because you only tuned it for A specific frequency.

I agree with everything Tripnbeats has said in this thread haha.

I have ONE 12" Alpine Type-R hooked up to a JL 500/1 and its in some dookie ass plastic looking box from Best Buy and that thing beats like hell! It tore off my rear view mirror in my CL-S. I've had it for almost 3 years and it sounds like day 1.

But back to the car...looks sick like I said in your newer post. Just keep it clean. I bet you are glad winter is finally starting to end so you can wash it more haha
