so i picked up the car last night, it looks great and i'm very happy with it. i get home, and had planned on removing the purple from the wheels. i pull off the front passenger side wheel first and BAM! giant slice/gouge on the inside of the tire...didn't puncture the air tube...but def not safe to drive on. i ordered a new tire and should be here today, mounted and put on tomorrow.
how'd it happen? i don't know. but i'm thinking i'm running too much neg camber up front so i'm going to correct that asap. these tires only have like 8k on them, as i hardly drive the TL.
as far as removing the plasti dip/spray paint...here is what i did. jack up car, put on jack stands, remove all wheels and centercaps. hose down wheels with a generous amount of wd-40, agitate with a wheel brush, peel up one corner of the plasti dip, and pressure wash. it all came off very easily, except for the inside spokes. i'm thinking i was unable to coat those spokes with enough dip for the paint to adhere, so it's basically just paint on the wheel on a few spots. i'll remove the excess with a plastic razor blade and goof off/rag. seems to come off fairly easy.
yeah what can i say, it's not for everyone. it's not even for me. if i could go back and do it again i wouldn't. i miss the original PC gunmetal finish on the wheels. boredom is a bitch.
hey, nobody is forcing you to click on this thread.
sorry, ravi.
i can't help that it took this long. imagine how i felt for 4 weeks with NO car. sucked. now i have my car, and still can't drive it.
o rly? that's funny, i waited a month too!
everyone else, i'll get some pics asap as soon as i get the new tire mounted and whatnot. sorry for the additional wait.

a better question is what is austin doing with MY wheels???
nope, not brown. that's all you man!
that is sort'of what this feels like...i do apologize for this taking so long, didn't forsee a blown out tire happening yesterday.
yup i was amazed at how easy it came off, especially when i switched nozzles on the power washer.
