i do auto body work and to me it seems your freind either did not tighten the lugnuts like you say, or when he installed the coil springs he set the ride hight to low so the spring bottomed out...it dosent take much for this to happen..did he double check everything before you drove off? i know you must have been eager to get home \''

This is what insurance is for, no matter what they should cover it but they may go after your friend for their money back... but if they are nice they may just leave it alone. This is why you always double check someone elses work!

It's hard to check someone else's work when you're not really sure about it though. I mean if OP were as skilled as everyone thought his friend was, he probably would've installed it himself, no?

Yes insurance is for matters like this, but I also allowed and permitted this kid to work on my car so its just as much my fault as it is his, ive gotta take responsibility for my own mistakes. I trusted a moron and paid the price for it.

DPAT...I just stumbled across this thread on my lunch break...HOLY F*%$!!! I feel for you bro - I should have my megans by Friday, and hopefully I'll install them this weekend. But like everyone says its a lesson learned right? I remember one of the first times I changed my own oil years ago...the rubber gasket/washer got from the old oil filter got stuck to the car when I removed it. I didnt notice until I "finished" and started the car - oil was going EVERYWHERE! Now every time I change the oil, I check to make sure the old gasket is on the old filter where its supposed to be before I wrap it up and throw it away.

Live and learn I guess.

holy fucking shit.after reading EVERY post this is what i have to day
1.part of the reason i dont believe in dropping cars, espically a tl because of its stock ride height but its your car and i have no right to tell you what to do with it.
2.if the lugs were loose there clearly would have been a difference in the way the car drives.ive felt that feeling before and i love my car waaaay too much to take any chances so i pulled over and checked to see what was wrong.anywayz with that kind of difference you should of pulled over instantly but your young like me so i can see why that mistake was made
3. this is why i do work usually by myself and if i know i cant do it i let a shop take care of it so theres someone to sue when shit like this happens
4.someone commented earlier how you+your tl=accident magnet and after your car getting hit WHILE ITS PARKED i would of been superstitious enough to get rid of it
5.any idea when your getting it back?

I'm not getting rid of my TL just because I ran into some unfortunate circumstances, I dont care what people say. Thats there opinion, I enjoy and love my car therefore i'll keep it regardless of the bs i've ran into.

I dont really have much of an idea, all I know is last friday the car was taken to the shop... i'd assume 2-3 more weeks.

A crashed car to me is like if my girlfriend cheated on me, she will always still be "there", but it will never be the same..

I have seen countless TL's and I pointed out damage to some and told them that the car was in an accident and they denied because car fax was clean. Surprisingly enough, it was, but there was nothing he could do because he already owned the car and it was about 6 months later. Even body work, its very rare to see someone work on someone else's stuff like its their own. Now a days its a job, if its done within a time frame and looks good, its done. I have also seen quarter panels "fixed" but everything still isn't aligned correct, bumpers that are "fixed", but are pushed in too much and gaps between molding not line up right.

I feel for you because it would be hard to get rid of "her", but sometimes when cars are in accidents, its more of a head ache in the long run. Your front damaged not so much, that rear I would be worried about.

Funny story, when I had my STI the engine blew at 8k miles. So I brought it to get fixed and came back when it was done. The second I walk in they tell me I need to come back because when they dropped the car down on the lift, they left the door open and it can opened the door. Everyone makes mistakes, you really can't be too harsh on your buddy because like the OP said, if its riding too low then it can cause that and when your lug nuts are loose to begin with the wheel starts shaking/wobbling. You also had that wheel spacer, which didn't help much. Someone tried stealing my rims and I noticed because my wheel was wobbling VERY severe and I got out and checked. Needless to say, I was missing just one lug and one was loose, the rest were OK.

Hope everything works out, but remember its just a car, no need to get in trouble because someone forgot to tighten your lugs. I believe in KARMA, and its a bitch..

That's unfortunate too hear about your STI. I understand what you're saying. This is basically my first car that is mine, getting rid of it does no good, regardless if the car will never be the same. One of the incidents was out of my control, shit happens. I'm not too worried about it... life goes on and ur right about it being just a car.

EDIT - A crashed car is a crashed car, if my gf cheated on me... its game over.

Looks good, but wasn't the damage on the other side of the car?

Glad you're happy with it and you have your car back. Did you end up getting the suspension redone?

i'm sure that shit sucked but you got it back a few bucks and weeks later. this is what i've learned in owning things like a car. "There will always be repairs". Unfortunately yours was sooner than most. looks great, i see the ride height was fixed

Dpat...you're one of the few on Azine who can actually say their car was "SLAMMED TO THE GROUND"!! But seriously, nice to see you got it back on the road!
