Yes..another exhaust question

I was just wondering if anyone has tried doing straight pipes along with 1 resonator? I was thinking of doing straight pipes from the 3rd cat back but with an AR25 resonator. No mufflers at the end, just tips off of straight pipes. Do you think 1 of the AR25's would be enough?

I like the sound of straight pipes, just not so loud

:sigh:

bro you can't run straight pipes and get a good sound, it will sound like shit

be too loud, drone and would make your exhaust innefficient robbing all low end torque

a better exhaust mod would be using the aero turbine mufflers with stock tips

+1 with Al, all low end torque would disappear and it would sound like an 18 wheeler...

^ Then his piping diameter will be stock

Yeah don't do the straight pipes... you need SOME back pressure for optimum performance.

Hmm..see I thought it'd be very similar to running off the header only with a good resonator to quiet it down. I know a little about exhaust pulsing and scavenging but honestly not enough.

I've heard some straight pipe V6s though that sound great! Without resonators! Especially the Accord video I found, thought it sounded good. So I thought either an AR25 or a 4" round 22" long Mag muffler underneath would tone it down to sound good.

I tried doing straight pipes on my 2008 TL Type S because I heard that it sounded good. It didnt end up sounding good at all. It sounded like a honda civic with the exhuast ripped off. NOT A GOOD IDEA. So I ended up putting the stock resignator back on and leaving the mid-muffler off. So right now it just has the mid-muffler taken off and replaced with 2.5 inch straight pipe, and now it sounds perfect. Not loud at all but a very nice sound. Just a tad louder than stock.

So being everything is stock minus the mid muffler - is there any notice in the car? I was thinking about doing this mid muffler delete and leaving the rest alone.

I see...did you have any resonator in there at all or no? I was thinking about having a BIG Magnaflow oval muffler (22" or 28") to quiet it down.
