its resonated, but that might be as close as we can get. Non-res sounds mean as hell.

I have the non-resonated version and its loud. There is definitely cabin drone, but I got used to it and it quieted down after breaking in. Or at least in my head it did. If you want a mean as hell sounding TL, get it. People know before I get to their houses that I'm there. You will be heard before seen.

Man I want a really sick sounding exhaust, but I don't want it to sound real raspy... I'm buying today so if anyone has a sound clip or vid that would be really helpful!

Alot of the rasp on wanderers car is mainly from the exhaust being pretty much completely open. If I recall correctly, he's got pre cat deletes, after market j pipe, test pipe, non res XLR8. Pretty much straight tube to the mufflers. It depends on the sound you want Acurastyle and what your future plans are for the car.

I actually got rid of almost all the rasp by adding the RV6 jpipe and RV6 resonated 3rd cat. The rasp is still there, but almost gone.

You should hear more vids of the non-res exhaust before committing. You don't want to regret your purchase later on. Whoever you're ordering from isn't going to process your order until the following business day anyways, that gives you until the weekend to finalize your decision. For me, I'm just waiting for the ATLP base exhaust.

OK,
I got a question? Where did the term "Whip" come from? Anyone? I know it means car. But where did the term start? There must be a story here????

If non res is too loud throw a res on there..

If res isnt enough volume for you have it cut out..

Easy as that..

This is how I would approach it too. I would just get the resonated version and then delete if it was not loud enough.

The non-resonated exhaust is certainly more aggressive than the resonated but it isn't really that raspy. That raspy exhaust note comes from deleting the cats. The drone that you can get at low RPM's is due to the exhaust not moving quick enough and causing resonance; that is why when you floor it the noise goes away b/c the exhaust velocity picks up. The j-pipe helps decrease the drone since it is speeding up exhaust flow. I would start with the non-resonated and put a resonator on later if you think it's too loud.

BTW here are some vids of a non-resonated XLR8 exhaust on a TL-S (AZ member s_heng_62).

Good Idea ???

So putting the non res XLR8 exhaust and J-Pipe on a stock 06 TL manual would be good enough for a nice sound upgrade? How much HP would these 2 add ?? Thanks, I haven't been on this site for some time, I feel like a newbie again, but thats OK. Alot of new stuff I have no idea about.

Thanks all. J.D.

The dyno on the XLR8 j-pipe showed 16 ft lbs of tq to the wheels and the exhaust made about 10 whp. You have to look at different areas under the curve too. Much of the torque was made down low.

Also you should change your sig to XLR8 Exhaust BB just manufactures it for us.

So there is no way to get the quad pipes on a 2006 A-Spec TL ???
I really want the Type-S look. ???

I just priced out the XLR8 non res exhaust for my 06 TL manual with OEM exhaust. $902 plus shipping. The J-Pipe is $380 plus shipping. So these will fit the OEM exhaust? How hard to install?

How much would the Vibrant High Flow cats add? Need 2 correct? What size would work with the Above parts? 2.25" or 2.5" ? $68 each is cheap, I thought High Flow cats were much more.

So adding the XLR8 exhaust, J-pipe, and 2 Vibrant cats to my OEM exhaust would be a good upgrade? I really don't want to add a CIA, worried about warranty and water problems? Or am I wrong here? Just want to add about 30hp to my 258-270hp ??? Manual 2006 TL.

It's an easy install. Shoot me an email and I'll put a package price together for you. You can fit the quad pipes if you get the Type S rear lip.

Yes the j-pipe will fit the OE exhaust. It would be hard to get the Vibrant cats to fit in place of the OE cats. You can buy the Random Tech high flow 3rd cat for about $300. It's a metallic substrate 300 cell cat.

Those vids are great. I had kind of ruled out this exhaust because of lack of videos out there. But this helps. Would love to see more posted up on youtube. I wonder how the resonated XLR8 sounds compared to a comptech when it comes to volume. I don't want much drone or law enforcement attention. Tac
