XLR8 ftw?

hey wassup guys im James Jang 19yrs old (new member). I saved up from work and built my credit up to finally buy a car in my own name. I need a little advice on mods. my budget is around $1700-$2000. I have an acura tl 2008 premium fwd and want it be aggressive (faster, lil louder, and better performance). I did my research and found xlr8 exhaust system + xlr8 v2 jpipe. I know they will boost up my hp and torque but will they be the best combo for faster acceleration and top speed? All comment welcomed

Welcome to the forum.

The forum where you originally posted, The AcuraZine User Help, Support & Suggestions Area , is meant for problems, comments, and suggestions for the website itself, so I moved your thread to the car specific forum applicable to your vehicle.

James, that is a perfect combo!

(its very hard to make power in this car) but the exhaust pieces you chose, help out in the sound and power arena.

A little louder !?!? You better listen to vids first, because the xlr8 catback is agressive as fuck. I know i would be pissed if i didnt love my exhaust.

Congratulations James! I am in a similar age group. I'm 18, going to be 19 in a few days. I bought a KBP Type-S and I'm soon ordering the XLR8 V2 J-PIPe and Resonated Catback exhaust.

Should know by the end of the weeks how much difference the V2 J-pipe makes. UPS said it would be delivered today but it never showed...hope it gets here quick!

When I was your age, I was modifying my Chevelle. Back in the olden days, you could change heads and cam and gain upwards 75-100 hp especially if you already had headers, aftermarket intake a 4 barrel carb.

J pipe is more performance gains rather than exhaust tone you might hear a slight tone change but nothing crazy

Just remember that you won't be going fast even with bolt-ons with this heavy car. If you're into making the car stand out, get A-spec kit, drop, and some decent rims will make the car stand out.

In a world of 4300-4400 lb Chargers, 300C's, Taurus SHO's, 3900-4000 lb 4G TL's, 3800 lb Camaros, 3700-3800 lb G37's and IS 350's, I wouldn't say the 3G TL is heavy at around 3500 lbs. Especially since through bolt ons and other smart weight reduction, an easy 130-150 lbs can be trimmed off. Hec, the C7 Vette weighs 3450.

It's the relatively tepid power output, especially when paired with the 5AT, that cripples this car; not so much the curb weight.

Yep, have the XLR8 J-pipe and mid-muffler removal and my car is still pretty quiet. Little more tone at idle but not much. Still very quiet inside my car.
