XLR8 exhaust resonator cone

Has anyone installed this on their exhaust? How much of a sound difference is it, with the cone installed? Also, due to the channels in the resonator, would it cause a lost in horsepower?

The resonator cone was tested and the there was a negligible decrease in flow which did not result in any hp loss. It should decrease low end resonance (drone).

So where along the exhaust should I have it welded? Also, which way should it face when it is welded on?

The tip of the cone faces the flow of the exhaust (the front of the car). You can have someone tack weld it in place (4 tack/spot welds should be fine) and we recommend placing it in the first pipe (closest to the cat) after the resonator. Just unbolt the clamp and drop the pipe there and you should have easy access to it.

Josh - would this work with the ATLP exhaust (non-resonated)? If so, any idea what kind of results could be expected? It's still too early for me to make a decision but, if I do decide to tone down my setup, I'm wondering if this would be an option. I was assuming I'd try either a high-flow 3rd cat, resonated test pipe or a full resonator. But, I wondering how this product would compare.

Technically it should. It's not an item I'm selling. It's an item I offered for free to my resonated exhaust customers who wanted to eliminate that small area of low end drone they were getting. In fact all my future resonated exhaust systems will have the cone built into the system.

In your case I would just recommend a resonator.

^ Thanks for the info and the recommendation. May be in touch to discuss options if I decide to make a change.

It def. helps with the low end drone when you cruising/ and very easy to install+remove. Felt no power loss.

check out my XLR8 cat-back w/ the cone in the black market!!

Well I am ready to talk to Josh...I will be ordering the p2r TB spacer...Plus the manifold spacer that they offer with the cat back system...The spacer they claim to gain hp...From past experience spacers dont do that they only safe gas...But if i can keep heat soak out...Its my way to go...and of course the cat back...Josh finally made it in making it look flush for my 08 MT Type S with acura's under body kit. Expecting 275whp ill be happy with that

Spacers give gains; it increases the volume of air in the plenum...As far as how much HP dunno; but it helps your car breath alot better...i think he has the port and polish runners w/ the manifold gaskets..

Doubt it; the rasp is from the grade of metal the pipes are made with.
