Yeah my AEM V1 bracket broke leaving a hole and so I bought the V2. If it wasn't for that I would still have the V1. Go check to see if yours is ok still, if its ok then no need to buy.

PEACE!

Usually they use K/N Filters...What you would do or what I do is I soak it in a bucket full of dishwashing fluid and water. Let it chill there for a while then you use the K/N kit to re oil it.

If its dry I do the same thing. I let it soak in water and then let it sit out and dry. Usually when it gets pretty much black thats when I clean it.

Its only worthwile to get the v2 if you dont have an intake already or yours is shot. There is no point if you have one and its in fine condition. For a few more bucks you can get a j pipe.

i agree, waste of $. not sure what you are running with now, but i would do pre-cats or j-pipe, crank pulley, or even 3rd cat delete before this upgrade.

as far as cleaning goes, i would follow the instructions set by the manufacturer. i actually bought another filter so i could have one washing and still have a good one on the pipe. if you live in a dusty area i would do it more often, but i think the manufacturer says every 15-20k miles.

There are a couple reviews in the 3G Garage as far as going from a V1 to V2 (me writing one of them). In my experience, it was worth it since I only paid $120 + new filter for a used V2.

I don't think it's worth buying a brand new one. Put that money towards a j-pipe or something that will give your car more performance for the money.

Since your car is black and your type s with the red gagues and all then the black with red lettering would look great or that candy red looks sick.

go get yourself kandN filter cleaner. Its a special detergent to repel dirt and such on any intake then has the oil to reoil it. It was 15 bucks and Iv'e used it about 5 times. 3 dollars for a new intake :-)
