We only offer a high flow third cat, which will probably add 3-4 HP.

C. Add straight pipes w/ stock exhaust?

UNSURE

D. Add exhaust with cats stock?

10 HP/TQ

E. Add exhaust w/ hi-flow cats?

UNSURE SINCE WE DO NOT PRODUCE HIGH FLOW PRE-CATS

F. Add exhaust w/ Straight pipes?

UNSURE

G. Is it even worth it to change mufflers while leaving stock piping and what if anything can one expect to gain (HP/TQ) from that??

UNSURE

We do not produce just mufflers, nor just straight pipes so we are unsure of the exact gains of these modifications. Also, each car responds different to our modifications and each dyno will report differently.
WOW! Those are impressive numbers. Was unaware that a performance J-pipe would do that much on an otherwise stock exhaust system. The power gain to expense ratio is GOLDEN

I didn't really notice any gains with a RV6 V3 on an otherwise stock TL-S 6MT.

The cars to the floor all the time, but I rarely go above 3-4K. I'd think 10HP and 15 FT/LB would be noticeable.

Are all the direct before and after stock dynos on base TL's?

EVERYONE KNOWS that Honda's make their peak power in vtec.
from 5k-7k RPM.

I dynoed my six speed and found; while the jpipe adds power throughout the powerband, vtec range is increased.

so if you're only driving below vtec...you're not gonna get the "push you back in the seat" feel.
also, it takes about 30 horses to "feel" in a 3500lbs car.

I'm not talking about a 'push back in the seat' feel, the car is slow at any RPM and gear. I assumed I might notice some difference, and a few people were making amazing claims of massive low end torque improvements, which is what I was after.

I'm not complaining, just saying I didn't really notice any difference in how the car drives. It might make more high end power, but thats not really that useful for daily driving unless you drive in 2nd.

right!

unfortunately, people are always going to exaggerate on their findings. Just the nature of the beast.
thats why its important to add facts, instead of basing on what you "feel"

Yeah, well, that's Acurazine for ya. Some of the claims are downright laughable.

You wanna really feel that your car is faster, you're going to need to do full bolt ons, maybe do lighter wheels/tires and knock off a couple hundred pounds. (Not that hard considering all the performance bolt ons drop significant weight, ie: pulley, cai, all exhaust mods, suspension, wheels, battery, etc.) Lose the heat shields, underhood covers, spare, tools, rear mats, etc. Even then it's not going to blow you away, especially if you do it little by little, over an extended period of time.

not any real good ones showing exhaust note or anything, but here are a few that might have some noise in there.

Forget all these dyno claims... Can anyone chime in with personal experience of installing a jpipe....any brand...and then tell us if they DID or DID NOT actually subjectively feel that their car was faster or not?

I don't care if it makes 10 hp, or 15hp on some dyno...as others have said, those charts can be manipulated.... But bolting a part on and then going for a drive... The cars owner will immediately know if the car gained power or not....

Thx

^not really.

your mind plays tricks on you.
install a cold air intake and you automatically think you're faster.
Hence the term BUTT Dyno.

however; I did benchmark.
I raced my friend - both of us stock.

and then when I bolted on the jpipe; I did pull in third gear.

From my experiences in the past with modding every vehicle ive ever owned, 1 mod, other than a SC or turbo, wont make much difference that you will feel right a way. But its the multiple mods that make the difference. like the J pipe, add a catback and you now have 20-25 hp gain. if you really want extreme hp you gotta start out with a high hp motor. cant expect 1000hp from a TL

it doesnt matter the jpipe.
both will gain in 3rd gear.

buddy that I raced now has the xlr8 v2 jpipe.
and I have the rv6 v3.

I still pull in third because I have PCDs.

What if he had light wheels and he was 5'3 and weigh 105lbs? Just messing with you. *

he does have lighter wheels than I have.
I think with tires and wheels he's sitting somewhere at 30pounds per corner, while Im at 40lbs per corner.

his car is also an 05.
we're both 6mt.

But in 06 the ECU received changes... for the loss.
the 04s and 05s have a more aggressive timing than the 06.

we'll be neck and neck.
when I hit 3rd gear, it takes me a few seconds to pull.

Racing comparisons are almost as bogus as butt dynos as empirical evidence of power production. There are too many variables and such that come into play.

Dynos are proving to be equally misleading unfortunately.

Honestly, all the pipes make power. And you can definitely feel it.

Back in '08, I did a CAI. Felt nothing. A week later, did the pulley. Felt nothing. A few weeks later added cat back, still really felt nothing. A few weeks later, added ATLP V1 and race pipe and finally felt it the first time I pulled away from the stop sign by my house. Then I stopped at the next stop sign down the road, which is on a hill, made a left, and with VSA off, the tires broke loose much more easily than ever before. The car was finally making enough to feel SOTP.

Then in '11, I added the HFPC's and felt a bit more, but not down low like with the J/race pipes. I felt the HFPC's more from 5.5k and up. It wasn't running out of breath from 6-6.8k anymore.

In '12, I added lighter wheels and tires (10 lbs per corner) and didn't feel any real difference other than quicker handling; more of a dynamic feel than anything.

Then did the 3.7 TL-SHAWD manifold/bored ZDX TB/ported lower runners, and again, like with the HFPC's felt a difference in the upper part of the power band, but nothing down low. At this point, the car feels like it wants to keep pulling past redline. Time for a 4" intake and cams!

So, to re-cap, the J/race pipes definitely gave me the most noticeable gain down low, but I'm not sure it would be the same on a bone stock car, being as that I already had the CAI, pulley and cat back.
