There is a "Sticky" right below the "New Thread" button.

^ plus one

OP I would advise you to first figure out your goals, then search and research your materials. Acurazine has tons of inforamtion on this car that has been out for almost 10 years.

Also, there is a thread (google 3G TL for newbies); that is another great place to start.

Good luck

Mods are pretty personal.
what are some things that you think the car needs improvement?

Do you need more power?
Do you want her to growl a sexy note when you press the skinny pedal?
How about handling?
Does she hug tight while taking a curve?
tires? a great summer tire can improve 0-60 times, braking times, cornering limits, etc.

and first and foremost; MAINTENANCE!
Does she need anything.
ALWAYS always keep her healthy!

Justin hit the nail on the head. Determine what you want out of the car and where you want to go, then you can figure out which mods you should purchase.

Welcome and this is a frequent question.

I would start with :

Maintence ( anything required ) ?
Off the bat I would do a oil/filter change.
Amsoil 5w20 with oem filter.
And 6 ngk plugs.

Then :

Cold Air Intake : I prefer Aem.
Pcd's : If you dont mind swapping the stock pre cats when its emsssions time. Honestly once there done once and shields are off its a piece of cake. Its the initial install that is a major pita even though ive now done it at least 10 times !
Suspension: either h&r springs and some koni shocks or ground control/koni or full coilover.
I strongly suggest these 3 brands as ive had experience with every brand for the 3g tl.
Budget ? Bwr ! Hands down. Want some adj. Go tein super street, want a serious coilover and dont mind paying serious cash ? Kw varriant 1.
Then I would do a full cat back. Either : custom, or xlr8. Or theres others : greddy, comptech, atlp etc...
4th : J-pipe. And no an aftermarket j pipe is not the same across the board.
I suggest either : atlp v2 $399 or xlr8 v2 for $450. I do NOT recomend rv6 v3 j-pipes!

Once all that is done it is often all that the avg person would want.

If you want more power... :

P&P stock runners, intake manifold and bore tb. Or do the 3.7 im/tb swap.
2) type-s cams or bisimoto custom cams.
3) xlr8 v2 UR pulley

Want even more power ?

1) p&p the heads
2) comptech supercharger
3) j&r turbo kit or custom
4) nitrous
5) engine management
6) build the engine

Etc.

Its up to you really. But I would start with cai/pcd/cat-back/j-pipe/suspension and go from their....

Just my 0.02 :d
