What's the difference between XLR8 vs RV6 HFPC??

Like the title says, what is the main difference between the two's high flow cats?

RV6's is $569 while XLR8 is $299 ...

that is a BIG difference!

RV6 Performance | RV6 High Flow Precat Kit

XLR8 High Flow Cat - Excelerate Performance - Japanese and European Performance Specialists!!

They look the same to me, i was looking to buy a jpipe also and i went with RV6 just because i like the slight gains i saw from the dynos but RV6's HFPC and jpipe combo is hella expensive ...

The Xlr8 cat is a high flow third cat. Very few people buy this because many of the j pipes delete it. The RV6 cats are the primary cats for the car and will make some power. Straight pipe ( no cat ) deletes are available and cheaper than the high flow cats.

So basically the RV6 jpipe and HFPC package for $940 is worth it ?

You don't seem like you even understand what you are looking at.

On our TL there are 2 primary cats that come directly off the heads of the car. Our TL does not have headers because the exhaust ports are part of the casting of the cylinder head.

RV6 makes PCDs (Pre-Cat Deletes) or HFPC (High-Flow Pre-Cats) to replace the primary catalytic converters.

The XLR8 Highflow cat you are looking at replaces the THIRD (3RD) catalytic converter which is located after the factory J-Pipe.

So in order closest to the cylinder head first it goes like this.

PRIMARY CATS (Can replace with PCDs or HFPC) -> J-PIPE -> 3RD CATALYTIC CONVERTER (Can be replaced with XLR8 High-Flow cat or ATLP race pipe) -> CAT-BACK EXHAUST.

Now ATLP, XLR8 & RV6 all make J-Pipes that have built-in 3rd cat deletes meaning the J-Pipe completely gets rid of the 3rd catalytic converter. They usually run for about $450-$499

"worth" is subjective. To some people $940 is chump change, in which case, it is worth it. To some people $940 is over a month of work, so it's not worth it.

Now, how can we answer that question for you if we don't know you?

Sorry aha im new here, i only purchased my type s about 2 weeks ago so im still learning..

I was thinking of buying this, this week:

XLR8 catback exhaust for $1000
RV6 Jpipe and HFPC combo package for $940

Is this all necessary ? Don't feel like deleting my cats because i know its illegal here in ontario, but HFPC will work just fine right?

It should work fine.

Be ware that that setup can be quite loud, depending on what you consider loud, with a bit of rasp. To tone it down, you need to add a bigger resonator on the exhaust.

You should look into how strict the emissions testing is in your area in terms of wether a visual inspection is done. Not sure which j pipe you want to buy but, some eliminate the 3rd cat and that will cause a fail in the visual test. Here in California our testing is very strict.

This should clear things up a little. We have PCDs and HFPCs that replace the factory precats. XLR8's cat replaces just the 3rd cat. Our jpipe deletes the 3rd cat since there are no sensors and most place do not do a visual inspection.

I would try the jpipe and HFPCs first and see how you like the sound level. Based on that you think we can suggest a system.

Thanks for replying! I was in a unfortunate accident about last week and a lady rear ended me and bent in my stock muffler in... So good news is my insurance is getting me a new exhaust and its up to me which one i want!

Since your dual exhaust system been "out of stock" for a while on your site i went with XLR8, and for the Jpipe and the HFPC i went with you guys I'm trying to buy the combo but i don't know if there would be some kinda of a sale soon? is there a way you can hook a new acuraziner with a good deal for the combo ? Will greatly appreciate if you do! either way im buying both!

Yes our exhaust is sexy but very expensive. Shoot me a PM and I will see what I can do on pricing.

Loud cars get really old really fast. If you do any long distance driving at all, you will hate a loud exhaust well before you reach your destination. And raspy loud is even worse.

If you go the precat delete route, you can add another resonator to get rid of the rasp.
