forget mods, you`re going to need to set aside 2-3k yearly just for routine maintenance.

Coming from a couple 5.5 gen Maximas (4AT and 6MT), it was typical to deal with P0420/0430 codes with the original precats. Sometimes a reflash would work, sometimes non-foulers worked, sometimes O2 sims did, and sometimes only swapping out the precats worked. Pretty mixed it seemed with non-foulers on headers, seems most ended up using O2 sims.

Just be a lot of work to find out my car is the one that gets a CEL but seems like the results are probably worth the risk.

My CEL comes and goes with the PCD's installed. I noticed it comes on mostly at highway speeds when I am not on and off the gas. Almost always comes on with cruise set.

Can't have a CEL here, won't pass yearly emission testing. No rollers but they do check for codes.

Valid argument. Although my CEL is RARELY on, and when it does come on is only on for a day or two then goes off for a couple of weeks. I still get the dreaded "Tighten fuel cap" alert on bumpy roads but no CEL associated with that so i'm good.

I never got a cel after I put on the pcds. Are your doodles whatever they are called pointing up? I mean straight up and tight.

I'd be okay with a random CEL, if it have a scan tool/Torque app you can clear it and if it stays off for a bit it would be good enough to get it through inspection, but that might get old quick. They're on sale for another month I'm probably gonna bite soon enough.

If I pull the trigger, it will definitely be the ceramic coated version. Had a DC Sport ceramic coated header on my old '90 Accord, really cooled down the engine bay.

304 stainless is very good at heat retention, I won't bother. If it was 409 or mild then ceramic coating is a must.

You'll pass fine; I did. It's when the weather temps. rapidly go up & down that causes the car to throw codes.

Otherwise, as long as there's no CEL, you're good.

I think ceramic coating is negligible.
as 350 stated, the steel already has great heat retention.

your engine bay is going to be hot regardless of ceramic coating...(explosions via spark and fuel are going off inside your engine)

to reduce heat, vent it out.

I take it the inspection station didn't look too closely at the engine, eh? Don't even remember if they opened the hood on mine, just hooked up a code reader and tested the gas cap.

When installing the pcds can you remove the rear primary from the top? In a DIY I looked at in the garage showed the newer accord pulling the cat from the top. I receive my HFPC this Saturday.

I recall when I installed my PCDs I first removed the heat shield and was able to pull the rear cat through the top. I know there was a lot of tetris going on just to remove the damn thing.

I actually went the other route, I bought the ATLP V2 jpipe/race pipe and replaced my RV6 V3 jpipe. I'm much happier getting rid of that rasp and I actually like performace gains on top end. I should be installing my HFPC tomorrow hopefully.

Unless they know exactly what they're looking for, I don't think most places are going to look. I think the code reader is all they rely on to tell them if there's cats or not.

I use the same place for inspections as I do for oil changes, they didn't say anything about my missing 3rd cat.

I have v3 PCD's, v3 Jpipe, and ATLP resonated quads. The rasp was very annoying at first so I bought a bigger resonator to replace the one that was already on the exhaust. It reduced the rasp by 85% and is more subtle now.

so keep my setup at ATLP non res + ATLP V2 Jpipe significantly reduces rasp as opposed to ATLP non res + Rv6 v3 jpipe?

Does anyone know if ATLP quad non-res with XLR8 V2 jpipe will create rasp? I search but all I could find was ATLP and RV6 jpipe.
