Catback system

I have a 3rd G TL (06) and have searched the posts and have not been able to find a definite answer to the best exhaust system for my base TL. I have to keep the cat on the exhaust and looking for an nice sounding exhaust that does not have that annoying drown noise. The sound clips you get to hear are usually outside the vehicle, Would like to hear from the anyone who can help in my decision. Have listened to, Tanabe Medalion, ATLP, RV6 and one other that has left my mind.
Appreciate your input.

Are you looking for just a change in the tone?

Yes, maybe some performance enhancement. I know it is limited due to the performance of a stock system.

Any differences are nil in the power department except for the true dual. The true dual has the capacity to flow more, thus allow for more power.

Just get a shop to replace the mufflers and maybe resonator.

If you want a catback exhaust with no drone and a civil exhaust note your only option is the Tanabe Medallion Touring.

Every other exhaust will have drone.

Just get a J-pipe (one of the ones that deletes the third cat), remove the mid-muffler completely, swap the stock resonator out with a Dynomax. Better gains than a cat-back and other than maybe OBX, less expensive. Bit louder at idle with a deeper tone, more aggressive sound without drone or excessive noise and zero drone. My car is still very quiet at freeway speeds. Maybe Accord mufflers deaden sound a bit more than the TL but if so, probably not by much.

I would honestly just get PCD's and remove your resonator. It won't be raspy at all. Unless you remove the third cat .... Then....woah!!! U need to put a resonator in there somewhere.....
With this setup it wil be calm while cruising and have a nice soft aggressive tone while wot.

Then when your ready for an exhaust .... A real exhaust upgrade... Get a Rv6 true dual.

Hmmm.. that's not what we've found. We've found that installing the PCD's makes the exhaust highly raspy. Eliminating the third cat hasn't add much rasp at all on all the TLs we've done it on here.

IMO he should either do the Tanabe Medallion Touring if he wants no drone or as mentioned above our XLR8 V2 j-pipe, which will eliminate the third cat. Both will give him a civil exhaust note with no rasp.

Hey Excelerate! Which part of the Tanabe eliminates the drone that exists with all the other systems? It looks like it has a resonator and mid-muffler. Is that correct?

It's the technology in the mufflers, the mid muffler and I believe it also has a resonator. We also use a technology called Purge Resonance Technology in our systems to cut down on drone but it isn't completely eliminated in our system.
