What INTAKE do you have? Why do you like it?

There are a plethora of stray threads and questions about INTAKE setups for our TL's on AZ.com. I'd like to bring them all together and know why you sport those pipes that you do.

Do you dig the loud vaccuum hum of the SHORT RAM and COLD AIR?

Or do you insist on the silent but deadly COMPTECH ICEBOX?

And.... Have you noticed any HP or TORQUE gains. Or is it just your imagination....

Intake modifications are fun.

Improved MPG in most cases.

And yes i dig the vaccuum hum that intakes yield.

A fellow NASIOC.com member quote on quote...'that TL sounds like an angry vaccuum'.

Angry vaccuum indeed!!! But the Comptech Icebox is actually as quiet as the OEM airbox. Only the standard CAI is competing with a Shelby Eureka 500.

AEM . . . . .

The sound. . . . . .

Ever since I installed my CAI, my MPG has gone down drastically. because my driving habits have been changed. I floor my car so many times everyday now.

Sorry, I forgot to add something very important.

As for the performance gains, I couldn't tell. After the AEM CAI and UR pulley installed, my car felt alot lighter than stock form and much more responsive. I raced my friend's stock TL on the highway 70-115, I pulled about 3 car lengths. (I let him floor it first also.) Obviously, the actual gains are there. I have a-spec body kits and 245/45/17 Pirellies, so my car should have been heavier than the stock form also.

I have the K&N, I like it. I never plan on using the short ram but its nice to know its there. I guess its given the car more power, cant remember what stock feels like anymore. Sounds pretty good, whistle isnt too annoying.

The growl of the AEM CAI is addictive and I do feel a noticable gain from it. Well worth the mod.
